  1. SK , you are right as every situation is different .
  2. I agree , when in doubt a new rotor is best ,
  3. No hard feelings JPI as you are a = like the rest of us ! :D
  4. There is a method of turning the rotors while they are still on the auto [ rather than turning them off the vehichle ] that produces a truer balance and they finish with circular finish when pads are replaced as to wear the new pads to the like new rotors instead of to the new grooves produced by old fashioned lathe work . I had mine done at a toyota dealer 20,000 mi. ago and still true to balance . Only my opinion as the best way to go .
  5. Just trying to help , I can get a stock replacement headunit for you e-mail for details AS THIS IS NOT THE BUY / SELL FORUM
  6. Try a OPTIMA YELLOW TOP battery deep cycle $125.00 , good luck with the dealer , maybe they will put the OPTIMA in for you if you ask real nice.
  7. Lexus offers a spare kit [ doughnut tire ???] and the pressure sensors can be used with any tire you choose to enjoy on your SC , Lexus also says that the most miles that you will get out of the runflat tire is 20,000 I DISAGREE [ only my opinion ] the pressure sensor is not possible to disable . And the headlight issue -What is your concern , breakage ? The only thing that would occur is fogging of the lenses or burnt out bulbs fogging - 10 years or more You will never have to replace them . dc
  8. Welcome to the lexus community , The tires will last 40,000 - 60,000 just do not drift around and stay away from fast acceleration , drive the car with care , you have a beautiful auto and it will treat you as you treat it , regular maintenance should always be kept on schedule , run flats are really not the best choice but do offer a feeling of security , seen as they are new get your wear out of them and then look at your options . I am not really convinced that tire pressure monitors are really necessary , check pressure with a reliable guage at gas fill or once every two weeks which ever you feel comfortable with . I personally choose Michelin tires , always smooth and reliable . Hope this helps you . B)
  9. Does anyone know of a repair of the rear defroster on a 98 gs300 [ built into the rear window glass ] only 2/3 rd's of the glass is able to defrost ,lexus dealer says replace the rear window !! thanx in advance , dc
  10. the rest of the pix are too big to post , does anyone know how to compress or change file size so I can post ???? thanx in advance, dc
  11. OK , here is the real deal the bulbs have two contacts on the base , they plug into the socket that fits into the circuit board with a 1/2 turn , the contacts get worn and weak from agitation , and expansion and contraction over time and the only way that one is going to control this activity is to pry ever so slightly the contacts of the bulbs out to make sure that they are in full contact with the base that holds them in the circuit board [ see attached pix ] the replacement bulb # is 8640 EIKO BULB , I have them in front of me as I type , sku # 3129340982 these are the replacement bulbs for every backlight in the cluster there are 4 lights behind the tach and 4 behind the speedo in the 92-96 es300 I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS MYSELF AND HAVE ALL AND EVERY PIX FROM START TO FINISH FROM THE REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE , [ the file pix are too big to post , if you want them e-mail or PM , IF YOU NEED THE NEEDLES REWORKED THERE IS THE KLUDGE FIX -PAINT THE NEEDLES FLOURESCENT AND WIRE A COLD CATHODE TUBE [ BLACKLIGHT ] UNDER THE FACEPLATE / there is a thread that explains this in great detail or have lextech.org do them for you THIS IS NOT ADVERTISING , just the only guys that will do this that I know of .
  12. This will help , contact lextech.org you will be able to send your existing cluster to them and they will put in new backlights and rework your needles to a desirable color [ yellow , red , or stock amber ] the cost is around $120.00 for the yellow and more for other colors . Y ou can drive the es without the cluster just make sure that the tank is kept full and follow traffic for speed [ I know this sounds weird but it is true ] . I had my wifes 93 es done and everything is like new . I have a extra cluster if you need one to get you by for the rebuild it takes about 10 days from shipping to receiving your rebuilt . just trying to help you out I went through 4 clusters from ebay and boneyards and there is not a like new cluster used that you can buy outright , they all need work. pm or e-mail me with questions if you want the interim cluster . I can also give you all the removal and install instructions that you need . I FEEL YOUR PAIN
