Welcome to LOC, Great pug !!!
  6. Are they self leveling ? Or do they stick straight out to blind oncoming traffic? I have my concerns about xenon lighting that is not selfleveling because of the blinding effect they have with oncoming traffic. One mans concern. <_<
  7. Silverstars are the way to go , I just changed my high and low beams out , All you have to do is turn the socket about a third of a turn , You are supposed to disconnect the wires to the socket first then remove but I find that it is not neccesary although disconnection puts 0 stress on the wires and connector. Hope this helps. B)
  8. Meguires gold is what I use with great results , I have not tried the NXT yet although I will .
  9. Well said GUY, I wouldn't attempt the job myself . My advice is to keep your stock system and replace with sylvania silverstars . GOOD LUCK !!! B)
  10. You know what is best for yourself in your heart , Follow your rapture .....
  11. No smoke from the tail ? No blowbye unless the exhaust manifold gasket is shot, A certain amount of blowbye is certain for just about any car , If it is smoking from under the hood it is almost certain to be a gasket . Is the oil cap on ?
  12. Just got my 93 es300 back from my local toyota dealer . This is what was done , Front brakes turn the rotors and new pads , timing belt , water pump , flush and fill with EVANS COOLANT , New fuel pressure regulater , all cv boots , plugs , Throttle body cleaned for $1475.00 I bought the water pump and plugs and the coolant . GOOD DEAL ?? Couldn't be happier .
  13. My advice sight unseen DO NOT BUY .Take the vin # and tell your local lexus dealer to run it on there computer , They should be able to tell you if any work at a dealer was done . Hunt around you will find a better deal.
  14. Sounds like the car was beat when you bought it ? Why ? Was it reletively inexpensive ? Some times people buy other peoples problems and then ask why !!!! I wish you the best for the beast . Have one !!!!!!!
  15. Are you able to look at the car when it is parked ? If there is any oil on the ground then it is easier to trace by looking up from the spot , Also look at the engine bay and see if you can see any obvious leaks from the head , the oil filter , or any other oil stained area , Be patient , use a flashlight [ even in daylight ] and take your time to inspect everything that you can see from the top to the bottom , You might want to take the car to a toyota dealer to have it inspected ,LEXUS DEALERS WILL JUST CHARGE YOU MORE $ Take a afriend who knows something about cars . carfax it ? get all the previous maintenance records , If none don't buy , There are a number of perfectly good used lexus on the market .
  16. You should contact your lexus dealer and ask if they have the guages in stock or how much $ they are first , Or email me and I can provide you with a 'fix' that takes some patience and some soldering experience , [ the file won't post ] And there is www.lextech.org that will take your current cluster rework the cluster and send it back to you with all the backlights and new LED'S behind the needles . Oh by the way the needles are easy to replace they just pull off and push on , The needles have a 1/4 turn mounting choice [ You'll see if you pull a needle ] So you want to push the needles back on with the gas tank full , the car warm , at idle , so you can position all the needles in the necessary position , The smoked plastic faceplate can be removed without pulling the cluster itself just remove the cowling around the cluster and you will find 4 [ four ] phillips head screws 2 [ two ] top and 2 [ two ] bottom in the front of the cluster itself [ these are not the mounting screws of the cluster they are inset and closer to the front lens ] Once the screws are removed you can take the front lens out by pulling the bottom out first then the top . BE CAREFUL WHEN REMOVING THE NEEDLES , A FIRM AND DECIDED PULL HAS TO TAKE PLACE , THE LESS HANDLING THAT TAKES PLACE THE BETTER ] Replace in reverse order.
  17. EMAIL ME I have a pdf file that contains .gif files that I am not allowed to upload to the forum. The .pdf file is an option that is considerably less expensive fix if you have some soldering experience .
  18. What exactly do you want to know about your es300 cluster ? Hopefully I can help out .
  19. In the traditional needle, 18 SMD's were used to light the needle. they ran all the way up the inside face of the needle and pointed directly into the face. This made for a needle that was very brilliant, but unfortunately the needle was made completely of plastic. Over time the severe heat dries the plastic out and it becomes brittle. This process starts to seperate the needle inside and the end result is a flickering or dead needle. So your options are to find or buy a new needle [ which results in the same problem that you have experienced ] or have the old diodes replaced with LED'S which will last at least 10 years.
  20. The problem sounds like it is in the instrument cluster itself , The three connectors behind the cluster do not usually come loose [ they are a b..ch to get out ] it is probably the guage itself . Is the needle still firing ? B)
  21. By the way I'm with guytelefunken on the slotted issue , Racing only ,everyday and your pads are shot. my opinion.
  22. Congradulations on your GS , Are there shim kits on all 4 corners ?
