  2. Bring it to a reputable stereo shop and have it tested. It shouldn't cost you anything. ;)
  3. Another step in life completed. Now get back to it.
  4. Replace the amp and it will come to life. ;)
  5. If she ever wants to sell the car as a platinum edition the original wheels are a part of the package. Other than that it is personal taste. Welcome to the club
  6. There have been a few posts on noises in the auto column when hot , You might want to do a search in the gs forums ( go way back ) There is a thread describing how to take apart the steering column and lubricate. It very well may be white lithium lubricant.

Old joke , But if pulled off right it can get some laughs. And one can always change the punch to what is newsworthy. ;)
  8. I concur, The amp location is deplorable in the early sc's. They always get wet and fry. If you find out that is the problem I will get you a amp that works with the waterproofing instructions. ;)
  9. Rx.... Do yourself a favor. Write a little mental note to "not speak when you wake up". Trust me, you can save yourself the potential embarrasement of saying stupid things, especially if the nurse is hot! I had all 4 of mine pulled 4 years ago. I woke up, the nurse asked me who the girl was in the lobby waiting for me "just a friend, way to ho-ish for my taste". I don't remember much, but I do remember complimenting the nurse on her "bodacious ta-ta's". She was not impressed. I also CLEARLY remember the head wrap they had on me. They wanted to walk me out the front door to the car, but I threw a fit "still in a daze" and said "I look like a freakin terrorist with this rag on my head, someone will shot me out there!" Loweandbehold, there was a middle-eastern family in the lobby....they were quite offended. They walked me out the back door instead. Woke up the next morning on the couch, blood on my shirt from drooling, and a note pinned to my sleeve "call the dentist and apologize". I later was reminded what happened. ROTFLMAO :whistles:
  10. Have it done by a professional. Does your insurance cover all glass ? Personally I would replace the windshield with OEM product. ;)
  11. I am soooooo sad to see damage on a lex. It looks like a truck or a vehicle that is much higher was turning around and backed into your gs :cries: Are there security cameras around the courts ? Our private club has them that is why I ask. Again SORRY to hear that you got a hit and run.
  12. If it makes you feel any better I had all 4 pulled at the same time and they had to chisle out the bottom 2. It wasn't that bad at all ( so take it easy on yourself ) The next day I had to load a 26 foot moving truck alone and drive 400 miles then unload. Even after all the stress and pressure I put on the stitches there was no problem. Let us know how it goes.
  13. Once the 12 disc changer fails they are not worth fixing. The 12 disc fujitsu changers are the worst changer lexus ever put in there cars. I can get you a lexus 6 disc that is plug and play with the bracket which allows you to mount it vertical or horizontal. Reply to this post, email me or pm me if interested. If DCFISH has a pre-1996 ES300 cd changer, you should consider buying it. I read at a different Lexus forum that an ES300, trunk mounted cd-changer is plug compatible for my NAK system. I found one at a local mom & pop salvage yard and took my sc400 out there and tried the ES300 unit. It is plug compatible and works perfectly. My car is a 1992 SC400. The ES300 unit has to be a pre-1997 unit. This cd changer is only a 6 cd unit, but that is OK with me. The NAK head unit recognises it and works well. The only problem is how to mount it in the trunk. My buddy, a mechanic, used the original brackets (He bent them artound) and mounted the 6 cd-changer sideways. I am very pleased with this solution. The word is that the ES300 cd-changer is much better designed than the original 12 cd Nak system It has now been in my car for nearly a year and is working great. I would look on EBAY for a 1993 - 1996 ES300 - 6-cd changer. Mine was $150.00 and was the best $150.00 that I have ever spent. Exactly, That is what I am offering with the bracket included.

  16. Agreeable comments Amigo, What is your take on the folks that say I'll only buy american no matter what ? Do you think standing by american made will be fruitful ?
  17. http://dailynews.att.net/cgi-bin/news?e=pu...uso0&src=ap I really dont have a problem with my american car. i personally like the styling of my car over amost anything else on the road in its clas, but thats why i bought it. i wont argue that a toyota celica is built better, but i like the way mine looks better. you would have a hard time seeling me on the my car is worse than yours because mine is a ford ZX2 and yours is a Nissan Sentra SE-R. I got REALLY good mileage all on my vacation (cosidering my mods, compression ratio, 7500RPM redline from upgraded engine internals) and i still topped 350-400 miles on a tank of gas (10 gallons for me). meghans car gets significantly worse mileage, quite honestly im unimpressed with it in that dept, it hasnt gotten over 27mpg since we got it, and its a 1.8L I4, smaller than the I4 in my car. but its heavier, and auto tranny and 4wd, so i let it slide. bottom line is, i have had really good american cars (95 ford contour, 384,990 miles and only a clutch replaced at 270K) and i have had really good imports, (the 05 matrix for example). SO...in the end, it comes down to you like and prefer. Im a firm believer that 95% of the time, if you maintain it and dont beat it into the ground, ANY car can be a reliable appliance for many years/hundreds of thousands of miles and be relatively trouble free. the other 5% of the time, whether chevy or toyota, the car was built on a friday and is a piece of *BLEEP* in the automotive world. trust me, my uncles 97 camry is a perfect exapmle, always well maintained, and only has 55,000 miles on it, cause its in the damned shop more than on the road. Considering the fact that model t's are still intact and running today your point is valid. Personally I would never own anything except a toyota product. And I have owned a few chevy's and fords pontiacs ( the list goes on ) when I was young and didn't care what I was driving as long as it got me from point a to b. Automobiles have come a long way but toyota products are ahead of the rest...........

  20. It is 20 contributing posts. It will probably be removed.
  21. The prices I quoted were from www.newlexusparts.com. I don't think you will find anyone who will sell OEM Lexus parts cheaper, and they pay shipping. The pad prices are certainly higher than you will pay for non-oem pads; however, brake pads is one of the few things that I think use of OEM is important. What really irks me is the price of the shim kits. These things are eight pieces of very thin metal. The Lexus profit margin on these must be astronomical. I agree on the shim kit price, Way overpriced, But you need them and lexus has one there. <_<
  22. First of all, Welcome to the forums You will be very happy with the gs series. These forums are chocked full of info. Read on and enjoy.
  23. Why would you want to lock your car in your own driveway when it is in view ? ( I don't think a neighbor would want to take it for a joy ride ) If you go swimming/skiing etc... Just have the attendant/ hold the keys for you. Engine starters I beleive the car stays locked. You might want to consult an remote car starter tech and ask him/her about how the car remains locked when remotely started. Just a thought. ;) Let us know what you find out. Thanx Someone could still jump into your car and drive off before you could do anything about it. A kid could even get in the car and get it into the street causing an accident and you'd be liable. Lots of reasons to want to lock a running car. Excellent points. ;)
