  1. wow, never knew there were radar jammers... but how does the cop know whether you have a radar jammer or not? because i'm guessing that radar jammers don't just jam the frequency of the radar if the gun's pointed at you, but rather they jam the radar for a distance. also, what's the penalty of using radar jammers? do you just get it confiscated and a fix it ticket or something?
  2. you know, i was thinking about my friend who had a honda accord coupe, and he got his stereo head unit replaced. he got an alpine, but the actual size of the original head unit was pretty big, i think it was a double. so what he ended up doing was he put in the alpine head unit on the top of the gap, and he put in an alpine equalizer on the bottom half, and it fit perfectly, no gaps anywhere. maybe that's possible for the 94 es? :)
  3. I heard that if your spoiler has the LED light, then you're supposed to disconnect the LED light that's in your back window. Is this true?
  4. do radar detectors actually work? and how do they work? will the detector let you know if there's any cops in the area? or will they just let you know if there's any cops in a speed trap using their radar gun? and is it legal in california? btw, i know there's a 12v power outlet thingy in the middle console in my car (2003 ES)... i've never seen one near the roof though, i'm guessing you'd probably have to do some wiring.
  5. i'm not sure exactly what the stereo head unit looks like on a 94 ES, but isn't it bigger than what you would normally find in cars? so doesn't that mean that you'd have to have this huge gap in between your stereo and the sides of the original stereo head unit storage area? am i making any sense?
  6. is installation of a spoiler hard? i was talking to a friend, and he told me that his friend, who's also my friend (but i haven't seen the guy in a while), offered to install the spoiler for my friend's car, so i'm thinking he'd also do it for me, but it's not like the guy's a mechanic or anything either, just a student... is it worth paying that much money to the dealer to have them install it?
  7. Does anybody know if the price on the 2003 ES Rear Spoilers will go down soon? I wanted to get it on mine, but it's a hefty price to pay... looking at close to $400! :o
  8. hahaha, very adamant about changing those spark plugs! :P
  9. man, they sure made a complicated way to program an alarm :P
  10. I think the only time you'd actually have to recalibrate your compass is if you're going from the northern hemisphere to the southern hemisphere, right? otherwise, north should still be north...
  11. Really? I didn't know you could turn it off! I have an 03 ES also... How do I go about turning off the screen? But anyways, I think it's ok to leave your screen on, because as long as your car's moving, and the screen's changing, the danger of having the screen burn out with that display still on it is minimal... although I don't even know if there is any such danger in those displays.
  12. haha, that reminds me of when i was first trying to play the game "the getaway" on my ps2. since the setting is in england, it confused the heck out of me when i first played the game, i'd always get into the car on the wrong side and end up driving on the wrong side of the road and keep running into cars head on. but after playing that game for a while, i had to make sure that when i was actually out driving, i'd stay on the right side of the road. :P i wonder what would happen if i saw a car with the person driving on the right hand side? :o it'd freak me out, that's what haha
  13. huh, looks like an es but with toyota badges. kind of confused me until i saw the tags, which i guess means the car's in japan... do they not have lexus over there?
  14. wouldn't it be really hard to replace the side running lights though? i thought it'd be neat to replace those to clear also, but didn't know how hard it'd be to replace those. if it's easy, then maybe i'll do those too. but who makes those replacements? anybody know?
  15. lemme know how it looks with the silvervision! hmmm... kinda pricey though, i paid a little less than 15 for four bulbs for mine... but maybe if the silvervision ones are better, i'll switch to those. i kind of understand what you're saying about maybe being annoyed... but i'm not doing it to impress strangers or with the malicious thought of blinding somebody. i'm doing it cuz i think my car looks cool with it and... yea, that's about it. i like it on my car... it's not gonna matter to me whether some joe shmoe on the freeway gets annoyed by it or thinks its awesome. besides, if it's that bright, that's why they made sunglasses B)
  16. oh, that's what homelink is... i use it too for my garage door opener, but i just never knew the actual name of it :P funny thought occurred to me... if the tv's on in your house, and you press the button to turn it on, will it turn the tv off instead since it was already on and freak the people in the house out? :P
  17. haha, that's awesome, it'd be nice to press a button and have my tv on, my food on the table, and a nice bath waiting for me. i've never heard of homelink though, what is it?
  18. oh, i didn't get the silvervision, but i took the part number and my bulb to autozone, and one of the guys helped me get these blue coated bulbs that i think said superwhite on them... i think they're supposed to blink superwhite or something, but to me, it looks kind of really bright bluish white, which is what i wanted. but yea, for the blinkers, the orange is on the coating of the bulb itself, so switching bulbs got rid of the amber.
  19. wow, soundz like one complicated piece of equipment... so how much noiser are we talking about? also, how much does it cost usually, and what kind should i get (if i get it, that is)? also, is this something that i can do myself (taking into consideration that i had trouble enough figuring out how to take out my turn signal bulbs)? thanx!
  20. thanx a lot! i got it done for both my front and back, it was just a simple matter of replacing the bulbs. they are a bright bluish white. looks awesome. but i saved my original in case i got tired of the new lights. thanx again!
  21. I checked the owner's manual, and the bulb number isn't there! It does have 21 under W, which I'm guessing means 21 Watts, and the type is E (whatever that means), but the bulb number isn't there. What to do!?
  22. What are the benefits (quantified) of a cold air intake? I heard that it increases horsepower, but by how much? Also, more importantly, will it void my warranty? I have a 2003 ES. Thanks!
  23. I know that there was a long conversation about having to put your headlight unit into the oven and etc to clear your corners out, but that's only if the lens is orange, right? because i was looking at my car, and noticed that the lens isn't orange, i think the bulb inside is. so if i replace the bulb, i can have them flashing a different color? and i think i can access the rear blinkers through the trunk, but can i access the front blinkers through the hood? has anybody done it on their 2002 and up ES? Thanks!
  24. As far as I know, it's illegal in California too, but it's only a fix it ticket, right? Plus it looks cool, so I'm thinking it's worth it. Plus, my friend told me a lot of the new BMWs are coming out with clear lights anyway. Let's just hope I don't run into a cop having a bad day :P Thanks bbsal for reminding me about the manual... should've thought of that... hmmm... white or blue? Never seen blue blinkers, seen a lot of white... eenie meenie miney mo~
