  1. well, doesn't that number just mean that you SHOULD only put on that size rims? cuz i know my friend has 17" tires but he put on i think 19" rims or something, or maybe the rims are 18", but i know his rims are bigger than the recommended size or something.
  2. maybe different taxes and surcharges for being in another part of the country? or maybe they're just ripping you off
  3. i think that as long as the tires aren't specifically directional, its recommended that you criss-cross them. i believe the reason for that is because the outside of the tires usually wear down more than the insides, so by criss-crossing them, you can sort of even the tires out, or something along those lines. i think the specifically directional tires are made so that they don't wear out on the outside like normal tires. have fun rotating! :)
  4. hondas and acuras are nice, but can't compare to lexus. but i can't really say anything bad about honda, since honda is one of my clients, which is actually where i'm at now, i can't believe i'm adding stuff to a lexus forum while connected to the internet through honda's phone line only thing about being out here is i have to keep an eye on my lexus, which is parked next to a bunch of hondas, nobody better tow my car away! :chairshot:
  5. if i were you, i'd check with my insurance company. my dad's gs got keyed once on the right side, from almost the rear light all the way to almost the front light, but we found out that insurance just covers stuff that happens like that without raising your insurance rates. plus, we didn't even have to pay a deductible. :magic:
  6. oh, and i wonder how much $2000 in 10 years would come out to with inflation? i forgot everything i learned in finance, not that if i remembered i'd still spend the time and effort to work it out. but i'd guess somewhere around $30 in today's money
  7. so if i was to want to buy a k and n air filter, what kind should i buy and where the heck does it go? where do i drop it in to?
  8. well, i've had my car for about three months now, and i'm already over 6,000 miles. so just estimating that i average about 2500 miles a month, i'd have to drive my car for more than 18 years to catch up to that guy! :o wow, that guy has a ton of miles on his car. hmmm... unless i buy a lexus used, maybe i can catch up to him faster
  9. so do drop in air filters make any difference? i was looking at the k&n air filter website, but i'm totally lost as to what to look at.
  10. haha, i use mine to hold all the quarters i need for the stupid expensive parking meters in downtown la when i need to go to the office for a short time. i think one quarter gets me about 6 minutes. but i figured out you have to be careful when you close the door, cuz if you slam the door shut, quarters fall down into the fuse area/engine area or whatever's back there. <_<
  11. it could be that the circuit just shorted out. i know that happened to a friend's car because water happened to get inside those buttons or something. i don't know how much it cost him to replace it though.
  12. is there even an octane rating that's lower than 87? and isn't a higher octane recommended for higher mileage engines?
  13. i don't think there's supposed to be a spring there, but i don't have a 97, so i might be wrong. as far as i know, all it should really have is a clip where when you close the door, it'll hold up.
  14. why'd they get rid of the ect button in the new es?
  15. whatz the standard rating of the HIDs in the ES. I heard it was 4500k.
  16. but getting the keys from dealers are way too expensive
  17. dang it, i was never good at these optical illusion things, i still can't see the car!!!
  18. so strange seeing a steering wheel on the wrong side of the car! well, wrong side for me that is :P
  19. love the smoothness... but love seeing the looks on the faces of the pretty ladies B)
  20. :) i agree with you, we should have a lighting forum thing
  21. hey, all right! you took my suggestion for your name change :D looks like you did a great job with the re-badging. now it doesn't look strange to me anymore
  22. welpz~ i'm 21, graduated from USC last december, and now I work for one of the big 4 accounting firms in the audit department. actually, it says "assurance services" on my business card, i guess we're assuring everybody that the financial statements are free of material misstatements haha, sorry, accounting joke :D but i don't have like crazy expenses to pay for, so i can afford my 2003 i guess... plus, i had some money saved up, so i put a decent down payment on it... otherwise, i would've gotten a base ES instead of the fully loaded one. so anyways, as i'm pretty sure that the only reason people know of the "big 4 accounting firms" is because of the whole andersen/enron incident, who, btw, i did not work for, i guess it suffices to say that i'm an accountant, soon to be a cpa...
  23. and take a pic to show us what it looks like with the cover on :)
