  1. Maybe on a 98 or so. There is no unbolting underside on a 90. Its just like the picture shows.
  2. If the car has a salvage title, and full of dents and the interior is trashed, and the car used to be a low rider that had its belly worn through then yeah trash it more. But if its in super good shape don't mess it up. For people like me "picky" when I look at a car to buy, any thing that's messed up about it I will pass, and I'm sure theres lots like me. Just look at the top shape old cars that sell on ebay for thousands more than blue book. In the " in the know car world" factory original is king.
  3. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-1st-and-2nd-gen-1990-2000/830802-ls400-electrical-information.html#post9586665 Look here it should be the same on a 93.
  4. There is a trick to getting them out. They don't just pull out. I don't have the information at hand right now.
  5. Most likely it was a trade off doing them like that. Since there are a lot of snap together interior parts. In the manual it shows that register bolting to the rear of the instrument panel. And since the information is in the heat and ac section and since all the work done in that area requires removal of the instrument panel??? I didn't see anything specific to the register. I'm sure to clear the ducting and remove it from the behind side of the instrument panel said panel likely comes out. And if the panel comes out it is then time to take care of the evaporator and heater core. Heater core I'd find a top notch radiator place to check it out or rebuild it. Not idiotic if there is no other real good way to secure it, there maybe too many things in the way to do a snap in. And besides they are allowed to be stupid sometimes like the starter.
  6. The detail I'm looking for are some of the questions I had asked. Did you look at the 4 large fuses that are called the fusible links? They are towards the engine and under that very large cover with 2 screws that are just behind the battery. So loosen the screws they don't come out they kinda stay with the cover. You can look and see if there is still a wire in those big fuses. If one is bad it is most likely the 120A one. and you can't just pull it out. Its a bit more involved so just let us know if they all look good.
  7. The steering has an electric valve since electric is the problem. So how does the engine run with no electric? Power steering needs the engine running. Is the battery charged? Are the cables clean? Is there power after the area where the cable connects to the battery. We really need good detailed information to be able to help. No electric is a very easy thing to figure out, who ever looked at it may not know how to trouble shoot the problem, and rather than toss a ton of parts on it have some good tech look at it.
  8. Nice that the insurance company paid you to fix it too, hmmm lets see if it wasn't for me......???? Na just kidding. I'm just happy you made the effort and got it done.
  9. Just the hot water or the toilet plunger? Good deal, now ya don't have to look at that dent, just like new again, I'm glad it worked for ya Billy.
  10. On early 90's Ive seen this same set up and what you say too about that control at the steering wheel. This one must have been the cheapy dealer one then. I tried tracing them a while back when I did the climate lcd it went deeper than I wanted to go at the time.
  11. Please explain the power steering issue? Windows / electrics can be corrosion on connectors or on battery terminals. If you ever disconnect the battery first make sure the key is not in the ignition and in your pocket, all doors closed and unlocked. And same status when reconnecting it. If you just got finished turning the ignition off wait a few minutes before disconnecting the battery, too soon and could set off the air bag. There is a trunk wire issue that is covered on this website and that could have something to do with some of the problems too. Like said check out the fuses and make sure of clean battery connections. Keep us posted.
  12. 1990 Ls, it had a phone so I suppose it may have something to do with it. The phone transceiver box is fully disconnected, funny how they did so many different installs of the phone systems, seems like no 2 are alike. This has no driver controls, and had a goofy mount in the box that doesn't look like others I have seen.
  13. Engine coolant temperature sensor is suspect in this.
  14. Any one allowing you to wash your car should be financially responsible for damages. So you can only wash it inside the garage? This site is being goofy today all the typing is on the right side of the screen.
  15. Just make sure you come back here and let us know how it all worked.
  16. Thank you Celsior, it may work, maybe he will try it.
  17. Okay the parts book shows this for a 90 8612050010 and the 94 only listed the same first 5 digits, 86120. The 90 showed that it was available for a cool $2078. but didn't list it available for the 94 so I don't know what that means.
  18. I've only done it on 1990 to 1992. Heres a tutorial for that, maybe they are close to the same. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/electrical/instrumentcluster.html
  19. You can't blame the car when it is around people that shouldn't be working on them. I'm sure the washing the engine has something to do with it. I wouldn't let anyone wash my cars, all they would do is scratch the paint. I see lots of new cars with scratched up paint.
  20. Good stuff Paul, keep it coming, so is the steering damper not available from lexus anymore? If I have to fool with taking the exhaust apart I'll likely remove the engine and transmission. With all the hard to access stuff at the rear of the engine I'm real curious if there is a time savings just removing it.
  21. I could get that dent out easy. Any plastic inners would need to come out. You could do it Billy. You need one of those air bags that can be pumped up, it would pop it right out. Easy stuff.
  22. I've seen a few of those type of posts and never has anyone come back and explained how they got the door opened or what caused the latch to not unlatch? It would really be nice to know if that day ever comes.
