here comes all the a/c questions....change of season... Anywho..this happened last year towards the end of the season... Kicked on the a/c today, and this crap is coming from my vents. Some pieces smaller than this one, but definetly the same material... What is this stuff?? Where is it coming from? And god sakes, how much does it cost?? "like that matters now...hahaha. :whistles: "

Did I miss a TSB? These sure don't look like the regular fitment fittings for the rear pads..... Do these work?? Cause they sure didn't on my car...

I replaced my mutulated ball joints last weekend. When I did the suspension work myself this time last year, I used a pitchfork on the ball joints and outter tie rods....Now understand, I did not know what I was doing, and had to redu my work at the time. Which meant using that devil-!Removed! pitch fork to re-seperate the two components..... 10k miles and countless trips back and forth to the shop...here is 50% of the culprit...Outer tie rod ends are in the mail as I type.

DC's got every right to say what he's said here, as he was doing what I asked in the thread's subject of input? I'm sorry guys, and I'm not trying to *BLEEP* on anyone's shoes here, but insulting him by saying his opinion is less than comprehensive is....mean. He likes cars on their very own platform..so what? I like extra sour cream on my burrito supreme from taco bell.. so??? If I had the money, I'd be in a ferrari enzo. If I could convince the Mrs.. into a Lexus in general, I'd be more than happy! But, my small-town, daughter of a retired SBI agent, Carolina country girl doesn't want the "flash" of a Lexus when she visits her family back in their tiny town 60 miles east of here. It's just not her style. That doesn't mean she can't out-class ALL of us on here inside of 30 seconds, even in a PT Cruiser. ;) Again, not trying to offend anyone here, but come on guys, let's tone down the opinion mud slinging. We're all friends here and DC didn't do anything wrong. He just voiced his opinion, which is what I asked for to begin with! LOC Diplomat has spoken....UN Session is now ajurned while I go review my hooked-on-phonics to learn how to spell. ;)

Well, after messing with it yesterday, I can say that using the mityvac for the transmission fluid doesn't work. I pulled out about 3/4th of a quart. Then drained the pain, which came out to exactly 1 and 1/4 quarts. For a grand total of 2 quarts...the same as draining the pan in general. I have no idea where the other 6 quarts lives in the tranny??? Or how to get to it?? But anyway, it sure was fun firing that thing up! I'll post pictures later "work security is blocking me today" :chairshot:

Thanks amigo! We're still looking for the right one. Looking for a 05' White Limited fully loaded. Might have to shop at tirerack for a set of wheels though...some of the stock wheels are just gross! I see you're a Subby fan! I use to have a 99' Outback, thing was awesome! I've never driven a car that wanted to go faster as the weather worsened! I called it my little "water spider". I remember evacuating Wilmington back in 99' from hurricane Floyd to Charlotte. I left after it had rained about 4 inches. As I was going up hwy 74/76 out to Charlotte, all of these big SUV's were going like 20 mph with their flashers on. I simply put my hands at 10&2 and never had to drop below 55 mph. When one wheel would hydro, the other three would grab and correct itself. It was the darndest thing I've EVER witnessed behind the wheel of a car. Never had a rooster tail from a car before. Never did I feel unsafe either. I pulled in to fill up on gas, and some guy next to me that I had passed earlier in a Tahoe said "what the hell kind of car is that?" Hahaha!! Had to sell it when I moved to Birmingham in 01'. Just not enough power to get up and down those hills. I drove it for 42k miles, and I actually sold it, for what I paid for it as a demo in Kansas City!! You'll never hear me say a bad thing about Subaru.....except for maybe the prices now .

I was under the car today and accidentally hit the exhaust pipe with my foot. I was STUNNED at how "wobbly" the entire system is under there. I mean I gently hit the muffler with my foot, and the entire thing, from the transmission area on back was shaking back and forth, up and down. I checked all the hanger spots "four O rings on the tail muffler" and "two oval honeycomb looking hangers by the differential area". The differential area hangers are really really soft, and feel very brittle. No doubt originals. I could easily pinch the rubber together with two fingers. Question: is this normal? I had my floor jack proping up the car to give me some room, and when I wiggled the exhaust, it actually shook the car left and right and made the floor jack rattle. I'm wondering when I'm driving the car and I get this occasional side to side shimmy feeling, if it's not the exhaust system shaking back and forth. I won't even mention that other..encyclopedia thread I started.....but....it sure does make me wonder....???? I don't get it as much anymore, but every now and then when turning at an intersection, or when I really stand on the gas, I do get a feeling of the tail-end shaking a bit. Do they go bad? Do they soften up over the years and begin to lose thier strenght? Or am I missing another hanger spot further up the line towards the engine. I didn't see any other areas, but it was tight, and I was tired! Edit: found this on search.. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...exhaust+hangers

Dang fella's, didn't know a PT cruiser could cause so much grief? Hahaha. In terms of reliability...it's all relative to who maintains it. And with me at the helm, honestly, it'll be just fine. Actually hope is does break down here and there so I can tinker with it! But, according to the owner reviews on carpoint.com, I don't think I'll be getting that chance too often. My retired parents have two of them, one is a 02' which has criss-crossed the country...not a single problem. And I must say, is very comfortable for such a small looking car. Cross-platforms....that's something that has no bearing on my decision, although I do see where DC is coming from. In terms of power, we're coming from a Honda Civic...anything would be better. The Mrs... doesn't care about speed. She hates driving my car, says it's too fast and too quiet, says it's too hard to control. Sounds GREAT to me!! Keep your boobies away from my steering wheel. But, what we're all missing here....what us "gear-heads" are not realizing here..is....SHE WANTS IT!! And I must say, it makes perfect sense to me especially when her car payment drops from $299 to $200, plus a reduction in probably 70,000 miles on the clock. She racked up the miles on the honda commuting into Raleigh from Rocky Mount, NC "60 miles one way" everyday. Now, no more commute. The OTHER thing you're missing is that if she wants it, she gets it, and I get to play that card in a few months....for that Big Ole's 42 inch HDTV widescreen I'm droooollling over . To her, a TV is just a TV.....But to me? Dude...Days of Thunder on a 42 inch HDTV with 7.1 surround vs. 27 inch standard Panasonic box I've got now?....Come on fella's....open your eyes to the bigger picture here! I've been given the golden ticket!! :D Well...off to replace the flex-coupling on my Lexus, and rear brake pads again.... Chrystler PT's have flex couplings? Hahahaa....sorry, just being a smart !Removed!!!

got mine from www.powerprousa.com $29 ea.

Here are some pictures: Mine are definetly not as clean as yours though Bicol. Mine had a layer of white protector wax on them..probably due to shipping from manufacturer.

people in bmw's and MB's that look at me and think they're all bad and speed by me. But, when they have a loan balance at least 6 times mine, and they're still intimidated by my 11 year old car...Nahhh...I retract this peeve..... I'll go with DC's peeve...me too! I hate it when I get to where I'm going...especially to work! :cries:

Well I purchased the set off of ebay for $60 total, and dang if they don't look exactly like yours Bicol They even have the correct part number on them, those little "O"'s with the crosshairs and dots in the circle and the Toyota imprint too. What gives? They're definetly a substantial piece of super thick rubber! Things weight probably 3 or 4 pounds each. I wonder if Toyota hired a 3rd party to make these and now that 3rd party is selling them directly to the public now? They told me they were not oem, but I must say, pretty damn good knock-off if they're not. They'd fool me if they weren't. Of course, proof is in the puddin' as they say and we'll see how easily they install and how well they function..... <_< That has yet to be proven....I'll definetly post up the results!! Bring on the pneumatics!!! AND...we get to "spring forward" tomorrow night too!! More daylight after work!!! :D I'll post up pictures of mine later tonight or in the morning.

Can Anyone Help Me?!?! Computer Problems Ls400
nc211 replied to xmanpike's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
Well there is your answer...your check engine light is one. Let me ask you this...does your mechanic know the check engine light is on? If so, and he is baffled what to do...then you NEED A NEW MECHANIC.... Rule #1....when the check engine light comes on...you plug in the code reader to see what's wrong. It will give you a series of codes. When you get those codes, post them up on HERE and we'll decode them for you. The computer knows what's wrong and it is trying to tell you with the CEL light. I would make sure you see the code numbers for yourself, and not be told what they are. If I were you, I would not spend another penny trying to fix the car until you get those codes. Don't get too frustrated....you're in good hands around here. The combined knowledge of the guys on here would actually put a lexus engineer to shame! Combined, we've torn down and rebuilt these cars. Each of us has a certain area of expertise. By the way.....welcome to the club!! also...check out this site www.lexls.com -
Can Anyone Help Me?!?! Computer Problems Ls400
nc211 replied to xmanpike's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
That doesn't sound right to me....The computer should be ok. Tell me this, any funny smells like gasoline? How's the engine running? Is it rough, coughing, stuff like that, or is it smooth and then just blocks you at 20mph and beyond? I could be wrong here, but this doesn't sound computer related to me, sounds more like exhaust blockage or fuel delivery problems. How does your air filter look? Is it clean? Did you have your computer replaced at the Lexus dealer? If so, I bet Lexus will honor the warranty on it if it is indeed the problem. There is usually a 12 month warranty on parts and labor. Any dash lights on, like the check engine light? -
Never seen one of those, but for $20 bucks, I think it's worth a shot!
