  1. that's a hard question for someone else to answer. its a matter of personal preference. i for one like a v8. you should probably drive both then decide.
  2. i agree, i see no point in upgrading the bar and leaving the old links on.
  3. i've been dying to say that. imo its just not worth considering how much quality remans cost these days.
  4. no shims won't cause rattling, but by all means get a set and put them in. while you're at it change the clips in the caliper brackets.
  5. i stock/use oem filters for all toyota products. if for some reason i am out (this rarely happens) i'll get a wix from my local WH dist, until toyota shows up with a fresh stock order.
  6. check with these guys... http://carstereohelp.com/lexus.htm
  7. don't stress the bosch filter too much. you should see some of the cheap off brand filters i've taken off before. toyota changes oil filter numbers from time to time, just tell them you need an oil filter for a 4.7l v8 tundra.
  8. considering you just changed the air filter, i'd start by making sure the air inlet tube is secure.
  9. imo honda does get great power out of their small engines but they are missing the boat by being so damn stubborn about not using a v8. as the rl is the flagship vehicle, a v8 should of been an option. imo acure will never be spoken of in the same way as lexus, mercedes and bmw until they offer a "real" rwd/v8 vehicle.
  10. oxygen sensors and air fuel ratio sensors look identical except the connector is slightly different so they can't (although i've seen it done) be mixed up. when ordering parts make sure to give them the VIN number, but sometimes this isn't enough. make sure to check the identification tag under the hood to see if its a california spec vehicle or not.
  11. like lenore said i bet the drains are clogged, but imo the most likely place is right at the sunroof. typically leaves and other matter clogs the holes so the water can't drain out. use your hands to clean out the bulk of it, because you don't want to blow too much debris down the lines. i should add this is the most common water leak on all cars with factory installed sunroofs.
  12. most wheel bearing noises are impossible to recreate on the rack, unless the bearing it really bad. i would be inclined to say the bearing is going bad because when you shift the load, via turning right, the noise goes away. one way to check it while loaded is to drive the car nice and hard, make sure to keep shifting the load, then use an non-contact thermometer to check the temp of each rear hub. if one of the bearings are bad it will read higher.
  13. i wouldn't let maaco paint my kid's wagon.
  14. yep, tires with limited tread will make the vsc overtime.
  15. that "black" hinge is called the door check. it keeps the door from opening too far. check the bolts holding it it on, sometimes they come loose, if not replace it, they're pretty cheap.
  16. i have a sep set of tire and wheels for the winter and i use the snow mode. the tires i use are called winterforce and i'm pretty certain tire rack sells them although i get them locally. they are very aggressive but the car goes like a tank with them on.
  17. i guess i think different owning a repair facility. i would like to get to the bottom of the problem. i've never owned a car where a fuse burnt out for no reason. each to his own i guess.
  18. i'm not talking about wind noise, i'm talking about drag coefficients for better gas mileage.
  19. yep, we have a digital paint camera for that exact reason.
  20. call around...a good tester cost around $1100, so not everyplace is going to have one.
  21. neither, although the motor and regualtor are usually sold as one unit on most toyotas.
