  1. brake fluid is low because the pads are wearing down.
  2. i've seen this problem with many cars and a lot of the times the solenoid that works the shift lock on the gearshift. the main killer i've seen over the years is spilled drinks of one type or another. causes the plunger on the solenoid to stick. i've been able to clean a few.
  3. not the shim kit, that's for dealing with squealing issues. i'm talking about the clips that go in the caliper mounting bracket.
  4. are you draining it and refilling it? if so about 3 quarts.
  5. assuming you are using a high quality pad and the rotors are not grooved real bad (looks like a record), change the caliper clips that the pads sit it. toyota calls this a fix kit, although i'm sure raybestos, wagner or carlson makes it. they would probably call it a hardware kit though.
  6. i would have the starting/charging system checked out with properly. i recommend having it checked on a midtronics tester, that checks the whole system. this will let you know the actual state of the battery, the starter draw and alternator performance at different load levels. this will also let you know if the diodes in the alternator are still good or are starting to leak.
  7. thanks. i have just gotten access to these and have yet to try a pair in the winter. i won't sell anything "new" until i try it first. i'll give them a spin and we'll see what happens in a month.
  8. LexKid630, I agree with you on the new models that lexus has. In my opinion they are losing there independant "LOOK" and becoming more like middle of the road styling. Lexus, Nissan, BMW, Even Huyundia are all sharing in a similar "LOOK" Not for me.:whistles: Although I wouldn't kick any one of them out of my driveway. that's what continous wind tunnel testing will give us...a bunch of cars across the board that all look alike :(
  9. problem is sometimes what's available via the aftermarket, even though made by the same company, is still not exactly the same.
  10. the vsc will only beep when the car thinks its really in trouble. other than that, it normally just blinks.
  11. i should add... i see a lot of these sensors go bad after people have axles repaired/replaced, because many people do not loosen the bolts holding the sensor wire and they end up breaking the wire.
  12. depends, are they including a high end lubricant for you as well?
  13. i absolutely love the look of the CL's...wish lexus still made a real coupe
  14. valeo invented this blade design and has leased the tech to bosh, trico and anco. i bought a set of the bosch icons and i didn't like them and went back to the oem blade. i will probably put them back on in the winter though.
  15. that's what i'm thinking, the clearcoat is starting to bubble.
  16. i have a friend who bought a m45 sport a few months ago and said it was hands down better than the new gs 430.
  17. imo they're not a bad tire for the money. if you expecting a rolex for the price of a timex...well you know what i'm saying.
  18. okay, now i understand what you are saying. if you read my post i said "most" toyota/lexus products. side note... i'm willing to bet most manufacturers switch to this design. while they are more expensive, they are a hell of a lot more precise than even a 4-wire o2.
  19. w/o reading all the responses... the sensor sounds bad. also checking an abs wheel speed sensor with ohm meter is spotty at best. a digital oscilloscope is the only way to go. that way can actually watch the sensor on the screen.
  20. provided for your reading enjoyment... www.vcertt.org/news/10-03.pdf
  21. nonsense that air fuel ratio sensors are different or nonsense that universals don't work?
  22. good luck, these odors are caused buy mold and bacteria and are very hard to remove. there used to a product called ozinizer (sp?) that worked pretty good.
  23. since this is actually an air fuel ratio meter and not an oxygen sensor, plus considering you had to cut and splice connectors, i'd say pony up and buy the right part from a toyota/lexus dealer. i'll say it again, i never use any aftermarket a/f sensors or oxygen sensors for any make of car. just not worth the hassle.
