  1. I have a 1st aid kit, CD changer, but no tool kit. I suspect one of the owners used it, then was too lazy to put it back. Damn used cars....Someday I'll buy a car that's LESS used.
  2. I feel really bad now. When I was little, I grew up in a small town. I'm guilty of steeling chrome caps for my fancy chrome freewheel bike. I did the same thing too. I took my crappy black caps off and swapped them out w/ the chrome ones, figureing the rich owner probably wouldn't even notice anyway. Here's a hint that always kept us away from the shiny sirens-o-evil on your wheels. If you have the chrome caps that have edges like a bolt, just tighten them up w/ a wrench so you can't loosen them by hand...most kids will not have tools to remove a cap. Upon realizing that they are too weak to loosing the 1st cap, they will leave your car in discust and never return....hopefully. Sorry guys for my bad habits 14 years ago...I must have started a trend. My bad.
  3. Take your door panel off, re-attach the rod. If the clip is broken, use duct tape or something...it's a pretty easy fix, but a very annoying problem it sounds like. Good luck. Post your results.
  4. Yeah, the brakes sound normal...the antilock is doing quite a bit, so a noise is to be expected. My friend's Porsche Boxster has louder ABS brakes than my Lexus, so don't worrry. W/ Traction control on, I believe the compluter adjusts the fuel going into the engine. That's why when you accelerate around a corner on take-off and it kicks in 1/2 through the corner, you about put your face through the steering wheel. You'll hear the engine sound very restricted because it wants to go, but it's only getting about 1/2 the fuel it needs to take off so it sounds very bogged down. Cheers.
  5. Gas mileage is dependent on each car...even if they are identical year, make, and model. Steve can attest to that. His gets well above the normal mileage. My car (completely stock) aside from the K&N filter gets about 25 on average and up to 29 on road trips. I use 93 octane too though...so it's a trade off...better mileage, but more expensive gas. :chairshot: PS. I have a good story about mileage though. A friend of mine bought a brand new Toyota tacoma the same time I bought mine (used of course) and his got less miles per gallon than mine. Both had identical V6 engines, but his was 5 years newer. It's very much dependent on the manufacturing quality of each vehicle. Horsepower falls in the same category...some cars are fast...some are not. It can vary up to 15 hp or more between identcal models.
  6. Engauging the parking-brake shouldn't be a problem on these cars, but in some cases when the pads are warm when you engauge it, and it's cold out (ie. well below freezing), the brake pads may stick to the disk. This of course will not be enough of a factor to keep you from moving, but it may make some noise until they heat up and release. I choose not to set my parking brake in the winter because I've had bad experiences w/ other cars. -Jimi
  7. Oh yah, I like the look of its placement a LOT. I can't think of a better spot, other than inside your console, but it would be more awkward there. -Jimi
  8. Plus, you might be able to get a remote w/ the XM head unit, eliminating the need to look up and fumble w/ controls while you drive. Plus the idea behind XM, is that you won't have to change the channel a lot. Find the kind of music you like and leave it...no commercials or annoying people talking.
  9. I looked into it before. The difference is definatetly the offset. After that, the GS rims are 1/2" wider or something like that. The will fit, but you'll have to buy wheels spacers for your car. 10-15mm wheel spacers should do the trick. YOu can get them off ebay cheap.
  10. Yeah, if you have money, take it in....a little preventive maintenance never hurts. :)

  12. I added the K&N drop in air filter. Right away I noticed the car ran better. At first, I thought it was just my imagination, but luckily I filled the car w/ 87 octane last and have been driving for awhile w/ the old filter for comparison. Right away I noticed that the car starts a little smoother when starting for the first time in the morning (ie the idle is smoother), and also it seems like you don't have to push the pedal down as hard when accelerating to get results. Also, when you do push the pedal down all the way, it has a more peppy response. Kind of like the difference when you run 87 octane and 93 octane. Money well spent...I highly recommend it. I'll see if it improved my gas mileage on the next business trip. PS. I raced my friends 2000 Audi 2.8 Quattro 5 spd. and beat him....the first race. Then he learned how to drive (ie. slip the clutch) and pretty much gained a car length and then stayed there for the remainder of the race strip....not bad for the ES though. :D plus my car was about 1/3 the cost of his...even better.
  13. How do you know you have a leak then? If it was just because water was under the car, then that could be condesation from the A/C unit...which is normal. :D
  14. PS.. It just bolts on too...took me 15 min. to install
  15. Amanda, You can PM people by cliking "PM" at the lower left of the person you want to send a Personal Message...but it's cool to post when you don't know, so fergettaboutit! :) Unless you are mechanically gifted, I would not attempt to adjust your windows yourself. You can break clips etc. and the Lexus quality may not be the same when your finished. If you choose to do it, then you'll need to remove all the visible clips around the door then slide a thin plastic or metal object (butter knife might work) just under the front side of your electric window switch to pop out the electric panel. You'll put the knife just in front of the wood, not the switch itself. After you get that off w/out breaking it (good luck) you'll see a large gold screw that you'll need to remove. From there, you'll just need to pull real hard all around the outer perimeter of the door panel to break free all the pressure clips that hold the door panel on. Then just wiggle up the panel back and forth until it comes off. I've never done this part.....from there you should see some screws or bolts that adjust the sway of your window...play with them until you get the desired result. Also, yes tire dressing of any kind will work...some better than others. Also some leave more residue than others. Back to the post.......... You can find a hitch like I did for my car...It's a drawtight hidden hitch for right around $100 shipped. go here to buy the hitch. http://search.cartserver.com/search/search...+ES300&GO=GO%21
  16. Hopefully they didn't add oil to your tranny fluid. This just happened to my mom's 2000 V8 Dodge Dakota...situation is being resolve w/ a new transmission.
  17. Or maybe he should neutralize the acidity of the puke by pouring milk on the seat? Kidding by the way.
  18. There's nothing you can do at this point. To prevent it from happening on spots that aren't crackin' and peeling, coat it w/ wax. It will act like a barrier to help prevent contaminates and the sun from drying out the paint and eating it away. If it's already started cracking, then the entire surface area that it's on needs to be sanded down and repainted to be fixed right. :( Sad stuff. What year and what mileage does your car have? Also, what environment is it in? Usually Lexus has really nice paint that will last many years (ie 20+)
  19. Not funny! I had to look to make sure you were kidding...
  20. Elronse, The large rims and low profile tires will actually reduce the ride quality in reference to smoothness. Like everything else, it's a balance. If you take from one, it gives to the other. The sacrifice of smoothness is more than made up by handling. I like to have a car that grips the road well, and w/ low profile tires there is less sidewall flex and roll leaving more contact area of the tire on the pavement...thus more grip. If you like to have the smooooooth Lexus stock ride, then stick w/ stock size wheels and tires. More performance (grip), then go to larger wheels, and lower profile tires. -Jimi
  21. First of all, take your back seat out...it just pulls up in the front, then comes out....from there, you can break out a hose and get it started. The acid from the puke will eat your leather.
  22. Pictures in... I love the tread pattern on these tires. Usually all-seasons have boring tread patterns. and I just like this one...
