Oh, and thanks for the compliment. I couldn't love this car any more if it was 24k gold.

You know I'm just picking at you. It's my job. :-)

No More Chrome Headlights

Looks awesome! Have you considered Plasti-Dip on the emblems? That is how I did mine. Very simple, just a little time consuming because it takes a lot of coats. I did mine anthracite. I think it looks great. -
Yup. That is the reason I had to have this particular car. Here is that pic I told you about earlier. I thought it was pretty cool. They have ruined this old building by building on to it. I wish I could have gotten a better shot, but you can't park any closer to it.

No. I have the suspension, but not the exhaust.

They are very sharp looking too. I could go for a dark gray 5.0. I just don't see me going from a Lexus to a Mustang though.

Thomas, I guess I have always just loved the kind of cars that I can afford. Ferrari, oh yeah. That is something I will never get to drive. The other day I was walking into the grocery store and an SS Camaro idled by me. DROOL!! Camel races? Now that sounds fun to watch.

Son......watch yo mouth how you talk about Chevys! :-)

Is There A Battery That Doesn't Go Dead In 2 Weeks?
13IS250C replied to Dr T's topic in 01 - 10 Lexus SC430
I once saw a battery terminal when I was having this problem with my Camaro. It actually had a knob you could turn that would turn off the power from the battery so nothing could drain it. Funny story, I went through a bad draining problem with my Camaro. Every time I tried to go somewhere it was dead as a door nail. Took it to a couple of shops, was told this and that. Changed a few switches. One weekend I was going to show the car so I went out a few days before to make sure it would start. I walked out into the garage, opened the passenger door and reached across to crank the car. I could see something between the passenger seat and the console. I realized it was a darned $1.00 CD case I had bought at the flea market and it was keeping the console cover from closing all the way and leaving that light on in there. I had to laugh to keep from crying. Needless to say, the CD case went in the trash. -

Gosh. I don't remember calling you one. Sorry if I came off that way. I leave my lights on auto but they go off soon after I exit my vehicle. I don't understand why that would run a battery down. -
I want to say something for the members of this club. I think it is awesome that we can all chime in on a thread like this and have differences of opinions and preferences and nobody acts like a big troll. I have been on sites, I won't mention them, where someone would have gone off on someone else by now. This is really the only site I go to anymore.

I had a 280Z. You talking about mechanical issues......SHEESH!!!! One day I left for work. First stop felt a little funny. Got to the second stop sign and I had zero brakes. Thank God it was a stick and I could gear him down and get him back home. Like Denny said, that was before cell phones. Clutch, fuel pump....it was always something. There was a guy that had an RX7 that worked near where I did. I hate to admit that I used to street race, but when we came up next to each other it was game on. I always beat him. I used to be able to really drive a stick. I have lost my skills with age. Arrrrrg!!!!

Steve, you are going to have to take a rain check, er, ice check on a pic. It is 18 degrees here and I have an inch of ice on my driveway. I do have a cool pic I took last year that I will post when I get back on my big girl computer. It is pretty cool.

I don't know which I enjoy more. Driving or detailing my car. I love both. Maybe driving it after a detailing is the best.

Like I said, I'm sure I would like it in person. Same with basketball. It isn't really fun on TV. I always loved that last yellow light, the front end starting to lift and full throttle for about 8 seconds. I don't like drag racing on TV either. You have to have the smell of tires and clutches burning to really get the experience.

Just ask for the red top. They will know what you mean. -
I bet it is exciting in person.

Welcome Pam. Any battery will go dead if you leave the lights on. They make thing called a trickle charger that will keep charging a battery constantly. You might want to look into that. I had a Camaro that would sit for months. It was just a show car. I always cranked it once a week anyway. Juices need to flow in a vehicle. I would also drive it forwards or backwards a few inches so the tires wouldn't get flat spots. It isn't good for a car to just sit. You could also try an Optima battery. They are expensive. I really don't think you have a battery problem. I think you just need to be a little more attentive. Post some more pics of the beauty. -
For some reason, I have never liked NASCAR. Hours of watching rolling advertisements go round and round just don't do anything for me. My sister's condo south of Daytona sits on the part of the beach that was the original south turn. You can walk up the beach to a cool restaurant called The North Turn. It has all kinds of NASCAR memorabilia. It is hard to believe that they origianally raced on sand. Thanks for thinking about us though.

Thanks guys. Y'all all have a great Valentines Day. I'm headed to Lion King tonight. I'm excited.

Thanks Thomas. I'll tell you some thing else sad about this show. It was a huge annual event. Two of the nicest ole country boys ran it. They both had ill children. This show would raise about $250k, in a weekend, all for their charity. There were all kinds of events like poker runs and stuff. I don't remember which year it was, but they were having a burnout contest. There was this one guy and he was doing a burnout and the tires grabbed and the car went out in the crowd. I don't remember how many were killed but it was just horrible. I felt so bad for all involved. Like I said, just a bunch of good ole boys trying to do good and something went horribly wrong. I don't think they ever did a show again. If you google burnout, Selmer, TN, Cars for Kids, the article would probably come up. If Selmer, TN sounds familiar, that is where Buford Pusser was from. Don't know if you ever saw Walking Tall.

This is one of the coolest awards I ever won and it was at the same show. The whole weekend is dedicated to earning money for kids with childhood diseases. Allison and I were standing by my car and this couple came up and started taking a lot of pics and wanted a pic of Allison and I by the car. It kinda creeped me out. I mean, Rambo was nice and all....but not that nice. They seemed like a nice couple so I went along. When they gave out the memorial awards, this couple gave one to me in honor of their daughter that died suddenly. Turns out, she was looking at a car exactly like Rambo when they found out she was sick. Needless to say, Mr and Mrs Wilson and I were hugging and crying. It was one of the most memorable times of my life. That whole day was just an awesome day that I will never forget.

I really miss going to car shows. Car people are the nicest people. I love hearing them talk about their cars and how long they have had them and what all they have done to them. One of the smaller towns around here has a really good one in the fall. There are even some normal cars like Lexie. If it is nice, and I can keep her flawless, I might put her in it just so I can walk around and visit with folks. The second car show I entered my Z28 in was a huge 2 day show. My daughter and I were sitting there listening to them call the winners in my class. I didn't win 3rd or 2nd so we both looked at each other and stuck our bottom lips out. When he called me for first place we both squealed so loud that when I went up to get my trophy the guy asked me if there was a snake under my chair. Everybody cracked up. I REALLY miss it.

I might have posted this before, but when I first got my Z28, I would just stand behind it and listen. It was the first V8 I had had since my '76 Camaro.
