Has anyone successfully created a 5.1/8.1 hybrid that actually works in an 2007-09 RX350?

or you can download the disc and pay nothing... ;-) after having to create hybrid disks,etc to get around the gps lock out, etc - if i did it again, I would not get the lexus built in GPS, but instead kept my old Garmin. My suggestion is that you get the base AWD with the HIDs and wood trim, all the other options minus the 18 inch rims over the 17s, are probably not worth it.

no others can install the tires, they just need the touchless machine to do so, most places that do 17s+ will have it. I would keep the 18s on there, and get a set of winters off tirerack if you go big, go 20s+ inch Not sure if your LS has the tire pressure monitoring system alone or the self inflating system as well - if it has the inflation system, your going to need special rims. Use it only in the winter, and from a stopped position. I find that I get less wheel spin using it, and also slide less; it seems to do something to the torque split between the wheels which works well in snow. works even better with actual snow tires....

hey all, after looking for winters like a mad man, I finally found a set of 17 inch nexen winguard suvs for 152$ a piece from walmart; put them on the stock 17s that came off with my car (have the stock mich. in my garage to put back on for the lease returns) got a set of 18 inch RX rims from the boneyard back in November for 500$ cdn via buddy that I am using as my summers. (not bad ehh! :D ) Walmart @ Sq1, Mississauga had 12 in stock as of last friday, of which I got 4. Everywhere else seems to be sold out of the bigger sizes and/or other they wanted like 300$ per tire (for Michelins) which is stupid. (however I soon found that tire23 had blizzaks for 225$, ahh well..) After reading that these tires were ~ to Mich. Ice-Xs, decided to try them. Thought that I would post here. After 3 stupid days of an Ontario Winter, the tires are great! I did not get stuck before, but I would fish tail every so often, slide sideways, and stopping was a problem. Now I can stop, the car does not slide, etc. Cost me about 680$ with tax for the tires and 80$ to mount them, but well worth it. I can actually stop now, and I do no slide everywhere like I did before. For the price, well worth it. If any of you want to be cheap, the 17 inch non SUV nexen winters are 105$ @ walmart. BUT, as our trucks are heavy, I spent the 50$ per tire more and got the SUV ones. I recommend these nexens to you guys, great tires for the $.

If you want to go cheap, get some nexen rodian ht - good bang for buck. (I have a set of nexen winguard suvs that i use in the winter) myself, i would spend the extra $ and get the Yokohama AVID V4S I refuse to buy anything made by good year; michellin is ok but $$$ for what you get

I would strongly recommend you get a separate set of rims with snow tires. Far less hassle then changing tires back and forth on your 18s every year, and + you do not want to have big wide snow tires,narrower ones are far better in snow. Think about it, what good are winter tires if they are wide and partially act like snow shoes...(wider tires are better when its dry, but not in snow) I am assuming your stock ones are good wit only 45k miles, but if you do change them, I highly recommend Falken ZE-912 as they are great all season tires, especially for summer use. (I used them as my summers on my e320) Get some 16 inch ones with snows. For my old 01 E320 4matic, I bought a used set of 16 inch rims of Craig's list, and put snow tires on them. I can vouch that Michellin x-ice tires are good but $$$. Equally good tires are Nexen [Kumho] Eurowin Winter Tires (sister has these for her Camry), and they are cheap! I myself would probably use Yokohama AVS Winter V901. Mind you, I have a set of Nexen winguard SUV winter tires here that I am using as winters on my new RX350 AWD. i had to adjust the angle on my HID - raise them up a bit because they were too low stock. You have to play with then to get them right so you can see and not blind others. not too legal, but I really don't care... made a big difference for me. you have to pop some of those clip pins , take off a plastic piece then use a trusty screw driver. I aimed mine infront of my garage door. Took several tried and drives around the block, but I got them up enough to actually properly illuminate the road infront of me and not blind others (well except for overly lower rice boxes like those slammed civics that are 1inch off the ground, but who cares about them anyways? ;) ) the stock ones worked great once I raised the beams, did not need to change the bulb.

:o :o :o I am on my 10 lexus vehical and have run 80K on them each and have never replaced a brake pad or rotor. years ago when I was in the car business we would see this a few times and we took the customer out and let them drive and every time they were what we called LEFT FOOTED BRAKEMAN!!! Right foot on throttle and left foot riding the brake pedel. Just learn how to drive and don't blame the car lol. i was told last oil change (@24000km) that one of my front rotors did "not look great" - if anything goes on those brakes goes before 45,000km - the stealership better fix it! the stock pads and rotors on my old 04 maxima were defective junk. Always warping. They did not want to redo them for free after 60,000km (was on my 3rd set...). Put on Raybestos first line stuff after that and never had another problem. I generally use higher end first line aftermarket brakes on my cars - raybestos to make makes the best first line rotors and pads for street use. never had a problem with those. (been using them for years). They are whats going on my RX350 after the stock ones wear away.

the 3.5L used in the RX350 uses the same 3.5Las the Camry, rav4, etc -> just with a lexus badge on the engine cover - its a lower compression motor so it can use octane87. Same as how the Old rx330's 3.3L used octane87. The higher compression motors used the GS350 and IS350 need premium

never buy anything the first year its out - even from honda and toyota thats dangerous - from nissan...good god

RWD is better when its not wet, these is no ice or snow on the ground, and you have a sufficiently powerful engine. for most people, fwd is sufficient. I am a RWD kind of guy, but as I only have one car (well suv) - gimme AWD! Canadian winters suck! and yes I do still put snows on my RX... if I had a summer car and used the RX as a winter beater - AWD all the way!

proper way take off bumper, rivet it from the back with a piece of sheet metal, fill in crack with bumper repair putty, sand down, clean up, do a blow in to match colour and hen add clear if your in the toronto area, i can direct you to a shop that can do it

Actually I belive the transmission issue is with 99/00 and maybe 01? models. I think the highlander came out in 02/03 after the problem (whatever it was) was "fixed" The U140F AWD transaxle was used in the 98-03 RX300, the 01-03 Highlander and the 00-03 RAV4. The U140E (the two wheel drive unit) was used in the 98-03 RX300, 01-03 Highlander, 99-01 ES300 and the 2002 Camry. if yours has not exploded yet, get the fluid drained, drop the pan, get a new tranny filter, and use amsoil atf...

hey there if you need a factory one i have a used one in great condtion let me know fastest way to get a hold of me is my email: captainhowdy313@yahoo.com thanks and good luck....adam you can drive with i on if its just the cat - will kill the environment, but ohhh wellllllllllllllllllllllll....LOL (I myself would not fix it for another 23 months! and thats only if I could not get a fake emissions) 2900$ is stupid. almost any aftermarket one will work...get something off ebay or get a decent 100$ aftermarket one and get someone to weld it in. if they start to feed you bull*BLEEP* about it not being "compatible" - just walk out... They may have to drill a hole to put in the sensor thats all. ohh and look into your engine to make sure its not one with the engine sludge problem - some older ESs were blowing motors because of this - toyota did a recall i believe...
