Rx 350 Vs Rx 400h ?
Messerchmidt replied to drgman350's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
the sales guy tried to push me on the 400h - almost killed the deal...complete waste of $. If your a tree huge - ride a bike or get a prius, not an suv, even a "hybrid" one. Mind you, a 4L v8 would be a nice touch for the rx...but again so would cylinder deactivation on the v6... you see tons a rx330/350s on the road for good reason. great suv overall. mercedes *BLEEP*ed me off else i would have gotten the ml320cdi - at least there you have some fuel economy - much better than any hybrid & torque to boot. Mind you, I do like the LED lighting on the 400h better than whats on my 350. -
I use those combo leather cleaner+conditioner wipes (Made by Mc-something - in black plastic can) - every 3 or 4 weeks on the whole interior, and even then some marks take time to get out. Important to use, or the leather will get stained and start to dry over time. I wish the RX had a pleather option...

Rx 350 Vs Rx 400h ?
Messerchmidt replied to drgman350's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
do not waste your $ on a pointless hybrid - pocket the cash and get the rx350. Burns a tad bit more gas, but its far cheaper, and I think - reliable -

Rx350 Compatible Rim For Snow Tires?!?
Messerchmidt replied to Messerchmidt's topic in Wheels and Tires Forums
16 inch BB compat. rims will work? -
hi all, someone left me a present by smashing in on of the lower rear parking lights on the back of my new rx350 at the mall today. (the tiny red ones at the bottom of the rear bumper). i need to order a replacement. was told by a friend who used to work at a body shop that they are about (CDN) 180$ list (if they are the same as the the old rx330) was looking for options online, lowest i found was 90$ US per light. anyone know where I can get an after market one cheaper? (was already on ebay, no luck) the light in the attached picture with the arrows pointed to it. thanks P

hi all, i have been reading here on the forum that the rx350, due to its larger breaks, needs larger (special?) wheels - is this true? if so, what size? I was going to get a set of old ES rims , steeles, or general cheapy 16 rims (of say criags list) and use those to mount snows on. Will my plan work? or do I need "special" rims of some kind?

Need To Replace Michelins On 2005 Rx330--suggestions?
Messerchmidt replied to KJ in SD's topic in Wheels and Tires Forums
a good cheap and quiet tire are the nexen 5000s they sell at walmart here in canada. great aggressive tread for snow, rain, and dry road. (not the greatest on ice, but few all seasons are). good tread wear and not too much noise. They are korean. used them on my moms old passat tdi wagon, they were great. my buddy has them on his camry too after i told him about them, loves them. i recommend falken tires as well. -
hey all, have a new 08 rx350 with HIDs. going to get the dealer to aim the HIDs more up because they are aimed too low. I am somewhat annoyed that lexus did not use bi-xenon HIDs that do both low and high beams. Had I known, I would have not gotten it from them and put in my own HID kit... Anyways, I was also going to replace the stock DLR/Highbeam bulbs with Sylvania silver stars - website says 9005S/SUs. was going to grab the 9005SUs from walmart. anyone have any experience with these bulbs in their rx350? its not going to fry anything is it?

First Time With My New 350 In The Snow.
Messerchmidt replied to Nebraska99's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
My dad recently purchased an rx350 for my mom after the lease on her @$#@@! passat tdi wagon ended. I had driven older rx330s in the snow. with the 350, they really improved the traction and stability control. Especially once the "snow ect" mode is enabled - great experience! I took it out for a spin, and I could not get the back end to step out after the last snow storm hit Toronto. Puts my '01 e320 4matic to shame in the snow, and I have snow tires... -
I still think MB has better handeling then Lexus (toyota-lexota), MB are fantasic cars, but too expensive to repair. If I pay a d*ck and a bone for a car, it better NOT give me any problems. The old mercedes turbo diesels founded the legend of a indestructable mercedes, however the new ones leave a lot to be desired in that area. If you buy a new MB, it drops like a rock b/c they are so problematic after 2-4 years. a 4 year old e320 can eat 4,000$ per year in repairs, its like WTF!?? If you get the LS430, its a different kind of luxury then MB, super quiet inside of the car, smoother ride, etc The major selling poitn of Lexus is that the cars are reliable. you can drive a LS430 for 5 years and not have a single problem as long as you take care of it. Once they get old, they are like all other cars. A problem here, a $$$ repair there. They are just not nearly as bad as an old BMW or MB. I would say get the Lexus, it is your best bet. The new Accura RL is also a great car. It is inbetween an E and S class.

I got all the fluids changed (other then the oil which I did myself) That includes coolent, powersteering, brakefluid, and transmission/torque converter with filter and gasget change. it cost me about $400 cdn including the Amsoil. I reset the computer by disc the battery, the car is running perfect now. Super smooth shifts and all. You do not need the Toyota Type-T fluid, Amsoil works in there no problems, and works better then the Type-T fluid.

Draining A 2002 Gs430's Torque Converter
Messerchmidt replied to Messerchmidt's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
I might as well do everything right now, how would the transmission shop go about doing this? any ideas? also dry fill for the GS430 is 8.9l (9.4 US qts) drain 1.8l (1.9 US qts) means what? torque converter takes 8.9L and the actual transmission takes 1.8L? will filling thr torque converter with amsoil make it run better and smoother or?! I got a case of the amsoil ATF here. Mobil1 5w30 is working great in the engine thus far. 4 days and it has not burnt a drop of it. I was worried that the prev owner used like XR4 or Castrol GTX in there and killed the seals with it. The dealer or who ever had the car last did a dino oil change before sending it to auction, the engine was louder with the oil that was in there and it was still clear. -
hey, how would i go about drianing the torque converter from a 2002 GS 430? someone told me that I may have to drill a hole and letit drain out, and the plug it, but the plug cannot be too big or it will put the thing off balance or something, can someone please clarify? I was told that the GS430's tranny takes a dry fill of 8.9l (9.4 US qts). how much of that is in the transmission and how much is in the torque converter?
-
isen't the oil plan plug in there magnetic already? I would not mess with it if it is not broken, if oil leaks out and you do not notice, your going to need a new engine.
-
if the hybrid was like 1200$ over the normal rx330, it would be ok. but its going to be what 6000$+?! it does not make sense unless you really want to save the enviroment lexus where are your v6 and tv turbo diesels?
