  1. Is the radiator temp sensor plugged in? It's on the bottom tank on the drivers side.
  2. Any time the CEL light comes on the TRAC light comes on as well to inform you the TRAC system is disabled. Trac will not operate due to engine codes
  3. What options package is the #3? Nav/levinsion? I bought one last month for $35,589. Sticker was $39,089
  4. This "mechanic" is full of sh*t! I have worked for lexus as a tech for 12 years and have seen only 3 rear wheel drive transmissions fail. I own a 1990 ls400, 1992 sc400, and a 1997 gs300, none with any type of transmission issue. All vehicles have over 100,000 miles, the ls400 having 278,984 miles. Never a problem.
  5. Seen this before. High mileage car? On the passanger side near the front of the motor is the "ne" crankshaft signal harness, close to the #1 injector. The connector has to be moved to remove the manifold. Sometimes the wires break due to age and corrosion. No crank signal will cause this problem.
  6. Leave the t/belt on and hold the crank pulley with a chain wrench or breaker bar against the floor. The use a breaker bar to loosen the cam bolts. Then tear down the rest.
  7. Swap the #2 and # 4 colis and see if the misfire moves to #4. I have seen some coils fail on these cars.
  8. 2 possible problems. The EGR postion sensor for 1997 modesl years and up, also the VSV for the EGR. It's the electonic valve that applies vacuum to the EGR valve.
  9. Front upper strut supports are making noise.
  10. There is a fix for this problem. Various frame dampners, new skidplate, steering shaft and Michelin tires. Dunlop equipped tires are the main cause. This fix works as I have installed many at the dealer I work at.
  11. Power steering rack is the problem. The PPS solenoid is failing. This causes pressure entering the rack to jump up and down and create a steer ahead feel. Buy a new rack.
  12. There are updated headlamps for this condition.
  13. code 13 is a bad camshaft, or crankshaft signal. Make sure the wires aren't cut by the serpentine belt.
  14. Order the key/cylinder set and have a locksmith rekey the cylinder to the old key
  15. Key must be preogrammed by the scan tool. Immobilizer code has to be registered by the dealer
