  1. If you're that concerned, get an IS350 and be sure you're not getting something slow. Personally I'd much rather have a base IS350 than a semi-loaded IS250 any time.
  2. Most people say the same thing. The only way to help is to have the A/C on the floor and dash vent positon, so a little cool air is available to the seat fan.
  3. Used to read about ideas like this in Popular Science magazine back in the 1950's. Had some of their stuff come true, we'd be flying around in Jetson's type vehicles now.
  4. There's a runflat version of Potenza Re050 but it's not the one that comes on the IS. Lexus is not single sourcing tires, so if they are using Dunlop and Bridgestone, you'll get whatever was online at the time your car got its tires.
  5. I took some round headed plastic fasteners of the proper size, painted them with touch up paint and shoved them in the holes.
  6. Thanks. Have you seen that color up close on a sunny day?

  8. So why the diffrence? Why not make them the same? Europe has different regulations perhaps as to location of side markers. I believe there are several requirements for Euro cars, such as rear fog lights in some countries, different headlight specifications, window glass specs, etc. They've had specs on tire speed ratings meeting the capabiltiy of the car for many years now. I believe emission specs are also different.
  9. Our side markers are built into the front and rear lights. No need for an "add on", and what I consider archaic extra insert that doesn't look like it really belongs on the car body.
  10. Thanks. That was the first IS350 in north Alabama. I hadn't chosen the red, but I figured I could live with it, and it's grown on me. It looks really sparkley in person.
  11. It's in the Owner's Manual, on page 271 All you need to do is hold the tripmeter button down with the key in the ignition in the OFF position. As you are holding down the tripmeter button, turn the key to the ON position. If the Odometer zeros out and the light flashes a couple times, the light should be reset. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showpost.p...amp;postcount=2
  12. I don't have any interior pics but it's black. I didn't like the cashmere because you end up with a three tone contrast in colors from the headliner, seats, and dash colors. The worst part for me is the dark upper dash and light lower dash. The only thing I don't like about the black is that the carpet shows every little leaf, rock, or grass clipping particle. But it's not hard to clean up and I can live with that. You can probably find some interior pics by browsing google images or cardomain. I've seen some interior shots but not with the matador red.
  13. NXT works great. I used it on my IS300 and now on the IS350. Makes a nice gloss and bugs and stuff don't stick on the front. I put extra coats on the bumpers and hood.
  14. There's probably a little spring loaded latch pin that moves when you click the opener. Make sure that's clean and free. There's also maybe a coil spring that pops the little door open, so make sure there's tension on that when you try to close the door.
  15. Actually there is a menu item in the NAV menu for recalibrating the GPS, i.e. your position. All NAVI's have a recalibration tool... but they are VERY rarely needed. Since this appears to work sometimes, and not others... there may be another problem here requiring more than just a recalibrate. If the system hasn't been hacked, I'd ask about it during your next service visit. And you can suck down a few doughnuts and cokes while you're there. :D Other owners have mentioned that sometimes they find their NAV location to be off by 10 miles or so. There may be a glitch somwhere with this model.
  16. Then why does my dealer insist I come in ever 3,000 miles, and even sets my service indicator for that?? This is the part I don't get. I know most manufacturers are moving away from the 3k oil change interval with the modern oils. Heck, I got 240k+ miles out of a nissan truck using synthetic oil with 25k/1-year change intervals. But the on-line maintenance schedule indicates oil changes every 7500 miles. And they even recommend different types of work depending on whether you're on the 7500 or 5000 interval, which is based on your driving conditions. Lexus says the warranty is good regardless of which interval, but I want mine to last a lot longer than the warranty. Maybe I'll do some sort of hybrid with oil changes on the 5k intervals, but the more intense work on the 7500 mile cycle. It would be way too easy for me to just knuckle under and take it in at 5k intervals. Most car manufacturers list two service schedules, one for severe and one for normal use. I have no idea why that online schedule is different than the one in the printed manual. However most owners I have talked to are going with the 5000 mile oil changes. Back in the day, manufacturers recommended 3000 miles but with a filter change only every other change. I never went along with that because I couldn't see running new oil through a partially dirty filter.
  17. Then why does my dealer insist I come in ever 3,000 miles, and even sets my service indicator for that?? I have no idea. You'd have to ask them. My private oil change guy does the same, 3000 miles. I did that with previous cars, but with the 350 I'm going 4000 to 5000 or 6 months. It's a matter of personal preference, except you should stay within the recommendations stated in the manual for sure.
  18. Why does it have to be over 10 mph? No, it's not bad. It won't let you shift to a gear that would over rev the engine. You might get a little more engine braking than you expected, but it doesn't hurt anything. Ok good to know, thanks. Here's a for instance. If I'm tooling down a highway at 70 MPH and plan to take an exit, I'll downshift from 6th to 5th to slow down a little, then just when I get into the turn off lane, I'll downshift to 4th and the car will slow more, then I just start getting on the brakes as needed, depending on how the exit is built, curves, steepness etc. It works pretty well and I can lose a good amount of speed before having to brake. If I had been driving in regular automatic mode, I'd just shift to "S" when I get into the turn lane and let it shift itself directly to 4th.
  19. You're always safer going by the severe service or 5000 mile intervals. In fact, I don't even usually go that long for oil changes.

  21. There is a second one inside the middle console. There's that one, which is revealed by sliding the armrest back, and there's one awkwardly placed "cupholder" in each front door where the pockets are. I was concerned that the one under the armrest would be a pain to use, but it's really not, at least not for my favorite driving posisiton. There's still room for me to rest my right elbow on the armrest without interference from my wife's coffee cup. The ones in the doors are just plain impossible to use, unless you just want a place to store your coffee until you get out of the car. I have a hard enough time reaching the window controls, let alone a cup holder even lower than that. The ones in the door panels are for like storing/carrying a bottle of water or whatever. They aren't intended to be used like a cup holder.
  22. I'd sure try to get HID by itself. That's one thing I sure miss since I traded off the IS300, no HID.
  23. I don't think most Lexus, or any car dealers have their own body shops these days, as that's gotten really specialized. Ask the dealer what they think of the work done at the shop they recommended. Or ask around at work anyone that's had body work done.
  24. They move right or left when you make a turn. I forget what Lexus calls them. Ah, Adaptive Headlights is it.
