  1. There's a JDM dash tray with a flip up lid that fits in there. I had one I got off Ebay.
  2. Look in the manual under tire sensor initialization. There is a provision for two sets of tires. Make sure your control is set for tire set 1 and not tire set 2. Lots of people have fiddled with this setting and had a problem till they figured that out. The other possibility that a change in climate has affected the tire pressures enough to set the TPS off. I think it only takes 4 PSI for it to do that.
  3. General rule is higher compressin = higher octane fuel to prevent pre-ignitin knock, etc. This can be offset somewhat by the ECU retarding timing, but at the expense of performance and can still be a problem under heavy load conditions. This be the rule that applies. Forget about boost and hot cams and stuff, that's all for tuners and racers which is an entirely different topic. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question90.htm
  4. This is only anectdotal but some of us have noticed that those who are changing oil more often haven't had this noise. This is like 3000 mile changes = no noise. 5000 mile changes = noise, especially 3500 - 4000 miles into an oil change. Just a thought.
  5. Isn't the small white light (LED) the one that stays on all the time, so there's no button to turn it on/off? I actually like that one, as it gives me light at nighttime so I don't have to turn on the bigger ones...... Sounds like your friend had his changed in his personalized settings The one you are talking about stays on. I wasn't sure if he was talking map lights or door lights or whatever.
  6. It's just a resistor that makes the ECU think the intake air is cooler. It's not recommended.
  7. Were talking street driven regular IS300 here I believe.
  8. Here's a thread that covers some fixes for that. http://my.is/forums/f88/cel-codes-need-fix-311919/ Some fixed by installing new gas cap and resetting the ECU. Others were the electrical connections on the evap system sensor wiring.
  9. I believe it's the higher compression that requires higher octane.
  10. I was getting a really bad buzzing noise from mine this morning, but it turned out to be the large foam Hardees coffee cup that was in the cup holder. It started buzzing against the console when it got partly empty. Easy fix there.
  11. First I'd clean the mass air flow sensor. K&N oil is bad about fouling those. Considering the belt issue, perhaps it's jumped timing, but I'd look at that after trying the MAF cleaning and see how it does.
  12. There are thousands of posts here with people helping each other. Please don't pass judgement on us after just 7 posts and a kinda odball question. Perhaps people that clicked don't have the exact same model as yours. Mine lights up, but it's a IS350 smart key so it wouldn't really mean anything.
  13. The smart key has nothing to do with it. The battery shouldn't go dead in that period of time. Seeing as how it wouldn't hold a charge after starting and running, it was probably a bad battery. It happens. Auto Zone and those places can test batteries, and Lexus should be able to do that as well.
  14. I was telling you to reset the ECU when I told you to unhook the battery negative wire for 10 minutes.
  15. Just put on a set of Eibachs and you'll be ok.
  16. $21,000 would seem about right if the mileage isn't over 45,000
  17. I had a noise like that in my IS300. Sounded like a screw rolling around. I finally pulled the overhead light out and it was a screw rolling around.
  18. Do you have a warning on the dash that a light is out? Check the fuses for the tail lights. If the fuses are good check the bulbs.
  19. Open your trunk There are two circular clips that you need to take out so that you can access the screws. Once you get those off. Slightly lift up and it will start comming out. DO NOT PULL DOWNWARD Pull it a little up and to the left for the left housing, or right housing. It should all come off. There will be a big circle that you have to turn. and then you will get access to the light bulb.
  20. Sounds like your car has gone into "limp mode" for some reason. Are you getting any check engine lights or other warning lights on the dash? Try unhooking the negative terminal again for 10 min to reset the ECU again.
  21. You can get all the genuine filters from irontoad.com. Put a plastic bag around the filter and remove it bag and all to prevent spilling. It's easier to get it out if you pull out the transmission dip stick and take the filter out from there.
