  1. But no other car I've ever driven acts like this - including my wife's car and the many rental cars I've driven. Are those other cars rear wheel drive?
  2. Check your tire pressures. If any are off by +- 4 PSI the alarm will go off. Once you have the pressures set where you want them then initialize the TPS using the instructions in the owner's manual.
  3. I guess it's a good idea you have the IS250 then. :D
  4. I've had my 2003 IS-300 since it was new (5+ years and about 40,000 miles) and it has not had a single repair. Nothing has gone wrong with the car since the day I drove it off the dealer's lot. All I've done is normal maintenance. I had similar good experience with my 02 which I bought when it was a year old and then drove for 2 more years before I traded it. Zero problems.
  5. I only had that happen a couple times and that was when making a right turn at an intersection and the right rear wheel dropped into a giant pot hole, losing traction for an instant.
  6. That's called jacking it up. When you make a turn like that and hit the gas too hard the weight tranfers mostly to one rear wheel and the other one will try to spin. If you turn the trac off then I think you will be spinning one tire. So all you need to do is not hit the gas so hard so soon.
  7. The only info I can find on that says you have to change out the NAV display and probably the whole ECU. Doesn't look like there's an easy way.
  8. I don't take mine to the dealer very often but I always tell them "no wash" based on some horror stories I've read here on LOC and other forums. I even turned down a free detail because I didn't want them messing with the finish on my car. They should do better but they probably just have a "wash boy" who uses the same rags for everything and isn't really an experienced person.
  9. 5 pages of nothingness and I STILL don't know how to drift Have you ever thought that drifting just may not be for you or that possibly you are looking in all the wrong places?
  10. Thanks. This was really helpful in programming the garage door. But where is the bit about the check engine light? There's not much about that other than to have the system checked. Is there something specific we could help with? http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ost&id=3798
  11. You can go on Lexus com and change zip codes to different regions. Or a good dealer will do a search and even get a car from another dealer if he finds one.
  12. I also got the Conti Extreme Contacts and agree that they are quieter and ride a little better. The handling may be a little less crisp, but I'm not driving near the limits anyway. Speed wise, I've had them up to 120 MPH and everything feels just fine. I haven't done much with pressures yet but I think the optimum is going to be somewhat lower than the Dunlops. (38F/40R)
  13. I think this will be nominated for Thread of the Year.
  14. Be careful dude. We don't want to have to put you in for a Darwin award. :cries:
  15. OK ri*BLEEP*hen7 Here's a video on how to drift. This is the way we did it when I was a young lad. http://www.planetvids.com/html/Amish-Drifting.html
  16. I don't see a reason to lock the thread right now. It's been kinda fun and if the kid even takes away one idea or even stops and thinks one time, it's worth it. IMHO.
  17. With age comes wisdom. Don't be a dumbass. You didn't even read the article did you?
  18. LOL!!! Ri-sh-ithen7 ... you are getting creamed here man! He asked about tricks.
  19. I would hope that Lexus, in all it's automotive wisdom, would have designed the fuel pump to avoid damage should the fuel tank run empty. :( ........... but then again why is the paint so soft you have to wash and dry it with super special fabric material!! <_< Responsible Lexus drivers don't run their tanks down to the fumes. As for drying, I use the touchless car wash and then go for a 100 MPH (no drifting) run and it dries everything except the trunk lid and rear bumper. For that I use a waffle weave microfiber drying towel. In 2 1/2 years I haven't seen any evidence of soft paint and have no scratches, rock chips, or swirl marks. I think the Zaino CS helps in that department too.
  20. When I go to the big medical center in Huntsville I have to use the garage. I always drive all the way up and park on the roof. It's not protected by the weather, but not many people park there so I can usually find a place with several empty spaces on each side.
