  1. pinned thread in General Maintenance section http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...?showtopic=3725

  3. excellent writeup with pics!! definitely deserve to be placed in the Workshop Tutorials section ;) btw, what was wrong with your original side view mirror? looks like you had a cracked mirror? i believe just the mirror piece could have been replaced instead the whole assembly. owell good job anyways.
  4. this issue was just covered a few days ago. read thru this thread: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=18985
  5. bushings arrived yesterday. do you have to unbolt the whole sway bar or just the brackets holding the bushings?
  6. i believe that clear hose should be connected to a firmer black hose that extends to underneath the car as a drainage. on my 95ES if you look under the rear quarter area (the corner with the antenna) sorta around the rear of the wheel well area you'll see two black drain hoses one for the antenna and a larger one probably for the sunroof drain hose.
  7. ah that's good news.. can't wait to replace the bushings.
  8. buy3get3free (quarts) Mobil 1 synthetic coupon in pepboys calendar for $1 (coupon exp. 12/05). the $1 goes to MADD foundation. buy all the calendar you want.
  9. on the 95ES you also have to pop out the door handle trim (the plastic rectangular piece) surrounding the door handle. looks like it may be the same with the newer ES's. the inside door handle does not come out along with the door panel and this trim piece also prevents the panel from being removed. be very careful and patient when trying to pop out the trim piece so that you won't puncture the panel or break the trim piece/door handle. the tweeter won't be in the way when you're ready to lift the door panel up as SKp described.
  10. i just ordered new bushings for the sway bars ($7ea for fronts, $9ea for rears) from newlexusparts.com and will be doing the changing and lubrication as suggested when the bushings arrive and time permits. thanks for the info. hopefully it will solve my suspension rattling too.
  11. this is VERY important if youre doing your own preventive maintenance and your car is still under warranty.
  12. i second the pen.. alot better hand control over what youre painting. using a paint bottle is like using a bottle of white out. also like white out paint bottle becomes guey and crusty over time so shelf life isn't very good.
  13. in regards to the Narva Golds H3 bulbs, when you say bright yellow do you mean (A) when looking directly at the foglight lens it is bright yellow and also the light output on the ground is bright yellow or (B ) the light output on the ground is bright yellow but when looking directly at the clear foglight lens it is yellowish white (or pale yellow)? bascially i'm asking if these bulbs give anything close to Lexus oem yellow fog color when looking directly at the lens as in the current GS and IS foglights. PIAA ion crystals were a disappointment when i tried them. they gave an output as described in (B ).
  14. theyre foglight housings for the 92-94ES and will produce the yellow output color. they will bolt up directly to the 95-96ES and the electrical connectors are plug-n-play but you will have to also change the foglight bumper grill to the respective years.
  15. you wont have any problem finding Chevron gas stations in AL & FL. theyre pretty much available at every interstate exits.
  16. also check the bushing in the dogbone engine mount.
  17. goto pepboys and pick up one of their calendar for $1 and use the 2for1 coupon for 20oz Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner (reg priced $10ea) with $3 gas rebate (save your receipt and record bottle UPC). a 20oz bottle treats up to 20gal gas. bottle says use every 3k miles. i just started using it and i'll probably use it every 5k or twice a year. the calendar has other nice coupns too like buy3get3free Mobil1 synthetic quarts so check it out. good luck and safe ridin to sunny FL!
  18. i feel your grief. i have this annoyance too and i'm only size 8!! my biggest annoyance is when i have to unplug my radar and close the ashtray in order to use the cupholders!! next is gotta watch out for the frameless windows when exiting the car..
  19. Good to hear Air Force! :D ;) :whistles: VGR, I respectfully disagree with you about the age issue with regards to synthetic oil & that's all I will say on the matter. :chairshot: :whistles: Let's drop the subject now guys & in the future, let's stay on the topic at hand, not trade 'blows' over car maintenance or what age bracket we are! :P ← i have a suggestion, next time an oil recommendation thread comes up.. do the SK thing and type "search" and that should be the end of things.. :D cheer guys
  20. heads up.. ebay Item number: 7959689348 17" ES330 2005 wheels no tires still opening bid at $465 ($60shipping) no bids yet. i ran across this auction while browsing and recalled this thread. i'm not affiliated with this seller.. just giving a heads up. good luck.
  21. why would you want to wait 5 more days when you have been smelling the fumes for the last 5 days since you took delvery after service? contact your mechanic ASAP, i.e. first thing in the morning. i never detected any fuel odor when i had my fuel filter replaced. for your safety and anybody else i would not recommend parking your car in a closed garage. better yet park it outside awayyy from the house. and i wouldn't even think about trying to crank it up. good luck and be careful.
  22. i see them on ebay all the time 94-96&97-01ES.. there's one on ebay right now for $20shipped. search for "lexus es300 radio kit" "YOU ARE BIDDING ON A BRAND NEW HARD TO FIND FIT KIT FOR YOUR STEREO FOR ALL LEXUS ES300 97 - 01 MODEL YEARS, AND ALSO SOME OTHER LEXUS MODELS. THIS IS THE OFFICIAL TURBOKIT MADE BY METRA, AND IT IS MADE OF HIGH QUALITY PLASTIC THAT WILL NOT BREAK. LOOKS REALLY NICE WHEN INSTALLED!" hope this is what youre talking about.. if not sorry.
  23. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...?showtopic=2019 click on the link in that thread and scroll down to page 9 on the pdf file for connector chart and schematic. hope that helps.
  24. please post pics if you can.. much appreciated.
  25. if you feel/hear a slight clunk or jerk of the engine when shifting from Park-Neutral-Reverse-etc then that's a sign of a torn bushing in the dogbone mount (~$30part easy DIY in minutes). if the dogbone bushing is torn then another engine mount is also suspect (most likely the front engine mount visible under the oil filter ~$150part DIY couple hours if you're mechanically inclined). there are a few engine & transmission mounts.. so find out which ones exactly your mechanic pinpointed.
