  1. Getting ready to take apart the front of my engine to replace the timing belt, tensioner and pulleys and water pump. From your experience doing this job, how did the cam and crank seals look. Were the starting to look a little worn, or can they go another 90,000? I have 85,000 miles on mine and I am wondering if I should order them before I start this timing belt job. Should I wait til the second belt replacement? Thanks, Tom
  2. Thanks for all the replies. Tom
  3. Just shopping some prices for my 98 ES 300. I want a timing belt, pulleys, hydraulic tensioner, water pump and possibly cam/crank seals. I looked at the advertiser on this site(autopartsmart), but coudn't find oem parts? Anyone know where I could getoem Lexus parts other than the dealer? Thanks, Tom
  4. Drill a small hole in the bottom corner inside corner of the lens. Will drain the water and any future water
  5. Nope, no tune up lately. I agree on the grounding issue, but I am hoping someone had a similar problem. I have an appointment w/ the dealer next week, so my warranty should take care of it. But they someitmes "can't hear the noise we are talking about" Tom
  6. Hello All, I have an odd whistling noise that begins as soon as the car is started up. I know, right away you are thinking belts, but this is weird. I never turn the stereo off, so it is on when I start the car. So I start the car, the stereo is on and the whistling begins. I turn the volume down on the stereo and the whistle is still there. I then power the stereo completly off, and the noise goes away. Power the stereo back on, and the noise returns! Any ideas? Thanks, Tom
  7. Was the boot cracked and exposed to the weather before you replaced the halfshaft? If so, there is probably more damage than just to the halfshaft. may have been better to replace the whole axleshaft.. Tom
