  1. I'm very surprised that the newer NAV system can only memorize 5 previous destinations?? The NAV system on my '03ES can memorize 100 previous destinations! By any chance did you get the CDrom disc from a Lexus dealer that explains your NAV's operation? Using this disc makes learning the NAV system simpler than reading the handbook. All you do is put it into your computers CDrom drive and up comes pictures and explanations. ← Yeah i used these CD's but they only helped a little bit; all i wanted was to plug in 3 places, and for it to give me a map LOL. I have this whole week off (THANK GOD I NEED A VACATION) so i'll look at is some more....I'll have Ali (my daughter) teach me LOL She knows everything about technology ;)
  2. Thank god it's not just me B) Why would they make a new navi for 05 when the old navigation worked excellent.....ummm
  3. I wouldn't suggest the bmw x3. I test drove one last summer and it was one of the most bumpiest rides EVER!! it felt like i was riding in a tin can or something.... It's unbelievebly small on the inside, and even smaller on the outside. It isn't comfortable, and is just plain bad in my opinion. I have a 745Li which is excellent, but the x3 has problems. honda, i can't say anything bad about; they are excellent cars! But, these are just my opinions, and suggestions to you; do as you please ;)
  4. Is it just me or did it take you a really long time to get used to the navigation on the es330? I have no problem on the rx's but this ES; ughhhh.... My wife has no problem, my 14 year old daughther loves it!! I feel so dumb!! Why is it that the younger generations "get" things as we so called "older" people don't LOL And i'm only in my early 40's ;)
  5. I know my dealer doesn't have a test 400h as of last week.
  6. 1: I have a 2003 coach rx300. On the average rx, the paint it 2 tone; x color on the upper half, and a grayish x color on the bottom half. On the coach's the paint is all 1 tone; ex i have ALL gold (ewwww)..LOL 2: The coach leather is perforated; meaning there are tiny holes (dah). This is supposedly better??? 3: Also the word "COACH" is planted just about everywhere in and out the car. It's on the floor mats, headrests, outside on the front fender and sometimes on the bumper??? I wouldn't know; i had to have my bumper replaced b/c i backed up into a pole :P 4: The front grille is different with the coach. It has a bunch of holes and it's a darker chrome color. Sort of looks like a bees nest w/o the hexagonal shapes..... 5: If your interior color is ivory, the wood on the steering wheel and everywhere else, is a lighter color compared to the standard dark color. 6: Depending on which car you have, it might also have more options such as navi etc. standard. Besides these things, the coach is the SAME as the standard rx! I bought a coach thinking there was SOMETHING better about it but i was wrong! This coach has been the most troubling rx i have ever owned!! But i'm sure it's just mine b/c everyone else seems to think they are the best....Good luckkkk
  7. Is the leather preferated? or is it uniformed flat like normal skin?
  8. That's a good suggestion; i've heard a lot about how you can take a lexus to the toyota dealers to do the same thing as toyota...The engine's are the same, why should it make a difference fixing it? GOOD SUGGESTION!! :D
  9. just to let you know; you can't "de-ionize" water using a piece of filter paper LOL If that's what it says on the box they're !Removed! you.........ions can't be removed with a piece of paper; a chemical reaction needs to take place removing the ions from the equation...jeez these advertizzzzzers
  10. I have only leased 1 car in my life; a 1998 LS400... But after 3 years i had to give it up because that was what i agreed with..... Just remember that when you lease, you don't own it...It's like renting a house; you can't just start painting and cutting dwn walls to make it bigger etc. It's the same with a car; if you make a dent, you can't just leave it and say, "Oh well, it still works." You have to fix it or you'll be paying a lot extra... Just my suggestion....
  11. His 2000 rx has 52k miles on it. He bought it September 9th of 2000 brand new. He has everything.....all the papers...everything you would get when buying it new... I mentioned that it's under the warranty, and he said his dealer (also mine ) said that it wasn't under power train....
  12. Isn't it covered under warranty? ← for how long? I'm just wondering b/c my friend told me that he needed to replace his 00 water pump for $3500. I was wondering if it's the same price as my 2003. I can't believe it's that much.
  13. no, no, no it deffiently won't eat through the seatbelt!! ;) I didn't say that.....Coke won't kill anyone, it's just bad for you to drink after a while........ I just wouldn't put it on a seatbelt b/c it's not extactly the purest cleaner in the world LOL. There are other solutions you know.... ;)
  14. This is also not true, I have a friend that collects cans of coke, he's had FULL cans of coke for decades, and the coke is still in the can. Expiration dates on canned sodas are definately longer than one month. Thats absurd. Its a soda, billions of people have been drinking it for years. Putting it on your seat belto for 30 seconds isn't going to eat through it. ← Oh, and the consentrations of the acids in coke etc is high enough..about 90% 10%water. it also depends on how much you drink as well......I don't think you know this, but when you drink a substance other than water or nutrients, it stays in your body for a long time. Eventually your kidneys will collect it and transport it out of the body...but with carbolic acid, it stays much longer in your stomach. If you were to look at a bottle of soda and see every one of those bubbles, you're looking at CO2 (what you exhale). Do you really want that re-entering your body!?! In your stomach!?! Just a thought......
  15. ← After time the coke's acidity (half life of the acid) goes down as i said before. If you kept replacing the coke in the can it would eventually dissolve the aluminum within weeks/months dependig on the temperature etc. Aluminum is one of the softest/most reactant metals next to copper and mercury. Also with the comment about 30 seconds on a seat belt; if you put a substance on an object such as a seat belt, it will get absorbed. It will be in the fabric and be there for a long time. I know this doesn't sound bad, but it is...... Coke is not a natural founding chemical, and was chemically created using CO2 and over 4,000 other chemicals! All chemically bonded (meaning they don't like each other :P ). When a reaction like this occurs, BAD THINGS HAPPEN.... and i'm sure the tooth you used was not fresh. By this i mean that it was not attached to a mouth w/ roots. After even such time as 1 hour the tooth enamel will harden and after every sip of coke it will get dissolved. All i know is that the chemicals in Coke are harmful, and i do know from 22 years experience and 6 years from 2 colleges, that carboloc acid and phosphoric acid can decay a tooth!! LOL.........THESE ARE ACIDS!!!!!!! Common sense....LOL also for these and many other reactions to occur, oxygen muct be present. If you have a tooth in 2 inches of coke, not much O2 can reach it. So drinking it would probably be worse ;) This is just an educated hypothesis.
  16. Also for the experiments that you put in this post" - A sugar cube IS NOT ANY WAY NEAR a tooth. The chemical formula for table sugar is C12 H22 O11. This means that there are 12 atoms of carbon, 22 atoms of hydrogen and 11 atoms of oxygen. - The chemical formula for a tooth (similar to bone) is Ca5(PO4)3(F,Cl,OH). This means that it has 5 atoms of calcium, 3 atoms of Phosphorous, 12 atoms of oxygen, 1 atom of fluorine, chlorine and hydroxyl. As you can see, the only similarities b/t a sugar cube and a tooth is oxygen...did i mention that coke has oxygen in it!! So does AIR!! So this experiment is sooo fake......... your second site doesn't even state that it PROVED anything!! It only inferred that conclusion because of what it can't do to other things..such as meat which it will affect.... And the last site is all wrong...she only used phosphoric acid solutions! she forgot all the other (over 4,000) chemicals in Coke including carbolic acid! So her experiment was not valid. BOTTOM LINE: "COKE" itself WILL decay a tooth and many other things (depending on time and size etc) over time. It's an ACID and is an extremely dangerous chemical. It's adictive by the way..It's a stimulant drug....It contains chemicals in glues, paints and in oil..... but i have never tested coke on a seat belt; so if you wanna go for it, go for it... Personally i wouldn't but that's just me..... good luck with your decision....... P.S: coke is very sticky so you micht want to clean the belt after applying it... ;)
  17. I'd like yo ask you a question; have you ever "done" these tests first hand? I have been a chemist for over 20 years and have delt with many different chemicals (obviously) and would know a lot about this topic. Well actually i do...... Coke type drinks contain phosphoric acid as well as carbolic acid. That old saw about putting your tooth in a glass of coke in the evening and it won't be there in the morning IS true. Any dummy with a bottle of coke and a "fresh" tooth (not from someone who has drunk coke before b/c their enamel is no longer there) can do this experiment. So you haven't got a spare tooth? Try some raw meat cut thin and put it in a dish covered with one of those canned liquids overnight. The coke will dissolve the raw meat! What do you think happens when you put coke in your stomach? And the Diet stuff contains Aspartame, previously sold from chemical supply houses (where i am 8 hours a day) with a skull and crossbones on it (representing a posion if you didn't know <_< ). Talk about stimulation! Aspartame eats the pipes out in the manufacturing plant. They have to be replaced several times a year. The Teflon coated pump impellers are eaten up monthly. Nothing touches Teflon! Are you sure it and/or the phosphoric acid don't eat on the inside coating of the aluminum can? They do! You just can't tell b/c the "expiraton date" is only about a month AFTER IT IS PRODUCED! The acid loses it's half life after this time a little bit, therefore won't be as powerful, or taste as....good??....Huhhh....Just think about the soft inside of your stomach? This acid has a long term effect and can be a leader of Alzheimer's. But sometimes it can actually cure other conditions if the stomach has a pH of more than it's supposed to. This means that the stomach isn't as acidic as it's supposed to be....This condition only occurs @ about 1/100 people. Also drinking a too large amount of coke can DECREASE your stomach pH (makes your stomach TOO acidic). This will mess up your digestive system and prevent your body from working properly. It also is a leader in heart burn. That's why when you have heart burn, you take an antacid ( a base aka a high pH aka low acidity). This levels out the acidity to even. sorry to bring my work into the message board but i had to......Do you really want to put coke on your seat belt?? ;)
  18. Maybe this will help: : http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002890.htm
  19. Thats assuming that service writers know more about these cars than Salespeople, which they don't. Do you know you need NO education and NO training to become a service writer for Lexus, or most other car companies ww? Ads in the paper all the time from the Lexus dealers here, its as easy to be a service writer as it is to be a salesman. They have no insider knowledge nor often any mechanical experience at all. They sell service to you, thats their job. First of all, Lexus doesn't do limited production. Nothing in their history has shown they have any inclination to do that, certainly to the extent that they have put into refining the hybrid system on this car and marketing it. They expect it to be a huge success, and they do already have some 20,000 orders.... Wait and see. I do also have to remind you that you dont have to have any knowledge of automobiles or even be a high school graduate to sell Lexuses. Consider that when you take info from car salesmen as truth. I deal with car salesmen for a living, trust me, most of them have no insight into what they sell and they get no more information about new products really than we do until they arrive. Car salesmen also like the sound of their own voices and will often talk about things that are blatantly untrue and total misinformation, often that they just make up. Some are quite good at this and are adept at making it sound like its coming from a credible source. It isn't. The big guys on this board know more about whats going on at Lexus than your salesman, trust me. Ask your Lexus salesman to describe how some complex function of your car works, say the adaptive lighting or the laser cruise control, VSC or the AWD system. Listen to what he says, I bet it'll be amusing. I've heard things from the cruise control uses sound waves to the adative lighting reads the road ahead of you and anticipates turns. Then ask him to talk about the breif history of a model, the LS or the RX and see what he says. I bet you he's wrong. I've had salesmen tell me the RX came out in 1990 etc What I'm saying is your salesman or service writer is no more reliable a source of info than anyone on this forum, in fact they're LESS reliable because you can guarantee everyone here has the interest, the time, and the means to find whatever information is out there. ← I couldn't have said this any better!! Salesman are not reliable at all. Last time i was buying a lexus the sales "woman" LOL told me VVT-i stood for some cazy thing that had to do with vital something or other, and that the "i" stood for interference.. WOW i could tell she was lying. I didn't even bother asking her about anything else because i knew i would get a lie! Never trust what they say.
  20. How much for an rx300 water pump? Does the position in the engine make the price so high?
  21. Good luck with that law suit. You can't exactly sue someone if you didn't suffer any damages. Sure the wheel came off. But it didn't hurt you any. Was it right for them to forget to tighten it or whatever happened? Of course not, they were negligent, BUT you didn't have any setback of any kind because of it EXCEPT the time it took you to return it and have it resolved. Had you gotten into an accident or something, that's a different story. So like I said, good luck with that law suit and free car. Andy ← LOL wishing and hoping.....No i wasn't injured or anything.....My wife said i could go for "pain and suffereing" LOL I could have died!! That's a serious thing...All my dealer said was well, we're sorry it won't happen again....ERRRRRRR
  22. Coke doesn't exactly "dissolve" the ink. It acts like bleach. It "bleaches" some stains (not sure about pen ink). Dissolving is saying that it makes it into an aqueous solution (water soluble). This would still leave the color behind. The carbolic acid is very powerful and can decay the stain. Have you ever heard of what it can do to a tooth in a day? WOW i will never drink soda again..... I’d believe it could get rid of an ink stain. Acid is very powerful if you use it incorrectly. Don’t think of what it does when you drink mass amounts of it!!
  23. I use middle grade; it works great ;)
  24. I really think bug deflectors work great!! At least some of them....when i sold my 99 rx in 03, the front hood area had a TON of chips and splatters. On my 03 i bought a bug deflector for it. I had it on for a week but a rock cracked it on the highway!! Saved me a LOT! I later looked into it more and decided to get a polished stainless steel grille guard. It covers the front lip of the hood and looks very more appealing in my opinion. Also it has a lifetime warranty :P It also won't crack under pressure.. HaHa And i got my bug deflector from the dealer. They had a list of options in a magazine thing, while i was waiting @ the dealer. Vwry good option i think everyone should get one if they want to keep the front looking great!
