  1. When I bought my 2000RX from a Cadillac dealer it had only 1 master key I told them I wanted them to get me another one as part of the deal. They had me order it from the lexus dealer and they paid for it. Jeff
  2. Also running your tank dry will lead to fuel pump failure. The fuel cools the pump and it will over heat if run dry. Jeff
  3. tealboy you are exactly right, any one who has FWD only can tell right away when you turn a corner in the rain and give it some gas. The front wheels will spin like crazy. With the AWD you get a very slight slip then the computer takes over and you just go around the corner with no more slipping. If you didn't have the AWD in the snow you would find your self spinning on those slight uphills that the little push from the back will stop. I've been driving FWD cars for over 22 years and had an AWD since 98 and I can tell the difference. Jeff
  4. If you have the VIN number you can call any Lexus dealer and they can look in there database for any work done at a Lexus dealer, If it was done at an independent shop your out of luck. Jeff
  5. My RX 300 bridgstone OEM tires only lasted 27000.
  6. The mode button switches where the air comes out.
  7. I bought mine from this web site. AntennaMastsRus.com If you go there you can print the instructions. It is easy, take off the nut that holds the antenna to the body and have someone turn on the radio. It will push out the mast. Note which way the teeth are facing on the nylon cord. Measure the entire length of mast and nylon cord, with the new on. it should be the exact same length. If the new one is longer you have to get into the power unit. Do not cut the new one you have a piece of the old one stuck inside and it must be removed. This is a much bigger job. If it is the same just push the new cord into the hole making sure the teeth on the cord are facing the same way as when you took the old one out. Now have some turn the radio off and it will pull it in. This was the hardest part for me, the teeth took awhile to grab. I had to try 4-5 times before it grabbed. Once it goes in put the nut back on and turn the radio on and off a few times letting the mast go to full out and in and it will be good to go.
  8. Some one has already come up with the blinking brake lights, I've seen them on a couple of cars. I thought about it also and did a little research and found out that it had already been done. In stop and go commute traffic when you get used to brake lights being on that sudden stop will catch you every time. The rapid flashing with a sudden deceleration gets your attention. I think that all manufacturers should incorporate this. Jeff
  9. Lex he changed his to LEDs. I too can tell the difference in the speed of leds vs regular bulbs, the bulbs also don't go off instantly due to the heat in the filament. They seem to stay on longer. We all know that electricity is very fast and reaches the led/bulb in( for our discussion) the same amount of time. With incandescent bulbs the speed with which we see the light depends on the thickness of the filament and the voltage applied to that filament. Thick filaments that will last along time in a 12 volt system would light up as quick, (again for our discussion) as the led if 120 volts was applied to the bulb. Jeff
  10. You didn't just put new tires on did you? Sometimes new tires of a different brand have a different rolling resistance and can cause a drop or rise in MPG. Jeff
  11. And if you go that route you have to do some exhaust work to let all this increased air flow out the other end.
  12. Have you changed the fuel filter? Cleaned the throttle body? Changed the air filter? Sounds like a fuel problem to me, this is the easiest route to take for starters. Jeff
  13. Was your warranty a bumper to bumper or just power train. You always have to do your homework before you try and get warranty work done. Read what is covered and isn't. Jeff
  14. lenore, would the multiplier change with bolt length and diameter? I know on the head bolts of Cadillac Northstar engines the proper way to torque the head bolts is clean dry bolts lube the washer and underside of bolt head, then torque to 22ft lbs + 180 degrees, you go 90 degrees then 90 degrees again to equal 180 degrees. This put the proper loading on the threads. Some people are even of the belief that once important bolts are torqued up and put in stressful applications they should not be reused. Jeff
  15. No anti seize and no oil on any bolt that requires a torque wrench as it will cause you to over torque the bolt due to reduced friction. The torque spec is for a dry clean bolt. This might cause some of you to cringe but spark plugs should also be put in dry and if you can remove them with an impact gun for a quick release from the full torqued position. This will keep you from striping the alum heads. Jeff
  16. Got the new mast today, took about 10 min to fix. Old mast was broken/bent in the last section. The hardest part was getting the nylon piece to start. Once it started it went down just like magic. Thanks for the info. Also the AntennaMastRus web site was very fast ordered on the 16th and got it today. Also they use pay-pal. And send detailed instructions. Jeff
  17. This is from another earlier thread in this forum, check out my posts near the end of page 2. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...&hl=octane&st=0 Jeff
  18. Thanks, where did you purchase your mast?
  19. The RX is not a heavy duty or even medium duty off roader, it is a street or maybe the dirt road to the cabin and some what foul weather CAR. If you want a hot rod high performance car or OFF roader you should not get an RX. The words luxury and off road do not go together in a regular car/RX. Jeff
  20. The overdrive button wasn't pushed was it? Jeff
  21. My antenna just stopped going down all the way or up all the way. Seemed to be bent. I pushed it back a little and I heard a crack and now the mast moves back and forth like it is broke. If I understand what has been posted the mast can be replaced with out removing the motor. If the mast isn't the only thing broken then I have to go in and extract the motor unit also. I hear the motor working but the mast just won't go to full up or down. My wife says that this happened after a trip to the car wash. But she always turns off the radio before she gets out of the car for the vacuuming they do and they run the car through the wash not running. Thanks Jeff
  22. Did you prefill the caliper? Yes air can and will get in the system if you open up a line to replace a caliper, and the caliper has air inside before it is filled. You need to follow brake bleeding procedures and bleed your system. Jeff
  23. Well I might be wasting the extra $5 but I'm using the Mobil1 oil filter with dino oil castrol gtx 5w30. Jeff
  24. On your 00 RX? I haven't heard of any problem unless your Trans is going out.
  25. Just replaced the stock Bridgestones with 27400 miles on my 2000 RX300 with yoko geolanders. I really like them so far. Jeff
