  1. I would suggest doing a compression check....sounds bad to me.
  2. the noise sounds like tire noise, increases with speed and changes when making right turns. I jacked up car tonight and right wheel makes no noise why left rear makes a Scrapping noise which I have always associated with a dragging park brake shoes, but maybe I was wrong....
  3. From what I understand, if the noise occurs when you turn right, the left bearing is to blame. Traditionally, you could determine which bearing was bad by jacking up the vehicle, grabbing the tire at 12 o'clock and 6o'clock position and rocking the tire. Any play would indicate a bad bearing. thank you for your response, in the past I did this and no play, but Maybe it is getting worst...I will recheck today...
  4. I am thinking of buying a set of Timken hubs/bearings and replacing both rears. Boy, the older I get the worst it is for diagnosing noise....
  5. Was the $405 for bearing/hub and labor? If so that was cheap....
  6. Is there an easy way to tell which one. My hearing sucks, and I hope it is not from the right wheel instead of the left....
  7. OK guys been trying to figure out many of the noises on the hybrid, it is so quiet you hear things...found a few like a rattling spare tire cover, just added foam and its gone. However I have what may be a wheel bearing issue. When you make right turns a low grumbling noise comes from the left rear of the car. No noise when turn left. Is this a indication of a wheel bearing? Sounds kind of like a scrapping noise..with a little vibration....The RX400h has 102k miles and I am second owner, from records cant tell if it had any bearings changed. All brakes pads have lots of material left....What are your thoughts for trying to diagnose the bearing...Up on jack stands I used a stethoscope (hearing) and could not hear anything unusual...suspect the cars weight needs to be on it. No play whatsoever....
  8. My experience with BoA is the same...Always making my bill pays late, and taking and holding my automatic deposits till the last minute. I love my credit unions...When I walk in they know me and their technology is superior to BoA....And it is all free....
  9. If you take the hub assembly out you can take it to a machine shop where they can press the old bearing out and insert the new one. You will not need a hub puller in that case. Just remove the entire hub assembly and take it to the shop.
  10. I would fix it. But listen to the advice, and dont just wholesale the coils, and sensors...get us some codes and maybe we can help.
  11. I agree doubt it needs all of the o2 sensors as well as the coils....maybe it isnt covered by insurance because of the deductable or possibly because they would total it because of the airbag deployment....I too like Sewel, however other sources could be Partsgeek.com and RockAuto.com
  12. If there are two relays, one for each seat a quick troubleshoot would be to swap and see if the problem goes away....Same for the switches....
  13. Personally I prefer the older body style....Also as has been said the RX400h is faster....Mileage wise We average 23.5 all of the time...
  14. I would suspect if the switch is disconnected and seat is still hot, then the relay is bad....However there is a thermostat on the seat heater.....
  15. Wow you did a great writeup of your problem...I was going to say injector, but it is done...However what kind of plugs are you using, I hope Denso, or NGK iridium...If Bosch, get rid of them. The compression really bothers me. Maybe a bad valve or possibly bad rings on piston. A leak down test on the compression would help to determine this. Good luck

  18. As for the crank seal it can wear a groove in the surface of the crankshaft. However there is a stainless sleeve which can be put over the crankshaft end to eliminate the worn spot...personally if the groove is not bad, i would use 800 grit wet paper and smooth the imperfection out and try a new seal...
  19. I suspect it was the flex pipe in the exhaust or the gasket before the rear Catalytic converter...

Sorry nobody has answered, however On Club Lexus there was a person that changed the transmission, however I cant find the thread, Haynes makes a manual for the RX300/Highlander that could help. I know my neighbor was able to pull the tranny on his Highlander without pulling the engine...THe normal way is to drop the engine cradle to provide access to the transmission. You will have to pull the Drive shafts fom the transaxle. generally a lot of labor...and steps...
  21. I dont know, I personally dont like Perry, but dismantling Education department might be good...What have they done to really improve the education process except to increase bureaucracy. I would have selected the EPA or department of Energy, they have destroyed more jobs than they have created. Newt still has my vote for being the most intelligent, and possibly a good negotiater for both parties. I am saddened that Herman Cain is tied up with this womanizer scandel...Man politics is just dirtier than ever. It is truely going to be crazy as the clock ticks down to the finish. Meanwhile the budget crisis is hanging and Europe is going to bury our bailed out banks...

(TMS), today announced that it will conduct a voluntary safety recall involving approximately 283,200 Toyota and 137,000 Lexus vehicles to replace the crankshaft pulley on the V6 engine. There is a possibility that the outer ring of the crankshaft pulley may become misaligned with the inner ring, causing noise and/or illumination of the discharge warning light. If this condition is not corrected, the belt for the power steering pump may become detached from the pulley and the driver may notice a sudden increase in steering effort. There are no reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition. The vehicles involved are certain: 2004 Avalon 2004 and 2005 Camry, Highlander, Sienna, and Solara 2006 Highlander HV 2004 and 2005 ES330 and RX330 And 2006 RX400h No other Toyota or Lexus vehicles or these Toyota models with 4 cylinder engines are involved. Toyota is currently working on obtaining the necessary replacement parts.   24. I think your price is in the ball park...I sold mine for $6000 with almost exactly same mileage...Everything was in excellent shape and ran well, mine was AWD....Try Craiglist but be very careful and take cash only.....

    I can see where that is true about the over confidence in snow when driving four wheel drive, I see it with the idiots when they fly past on the pass going through the sierras. as for the government, yep, spend, spend, and tax more.
