  1. The codes which were something like A08 indicated a inverter cooling pump failure....Cheap part $168 my cost, but dealer charged $250 and labor....Three bolts and two hoses and located behind the left headlight on the bottom of the engine compartment....hey at least not a battery failure, even though others with the same lights and indicators message had either a battery or inverter failure....So far car is running well, it got new coolent in the inverter, which at 100k miles is about right.
  2. change is hard, I wish the search feature on this site was better, it is so better on the Club Lexus and Toyota Nation sites...Everytime I use this site it tells me too few letters in the search words...really sucks....
  3. You know, look at it this way you got 10 years, I absolutely am not happy with the tranny issue....I lost mine at same mileage...I am the guy that requested people to file a complaint. But I would suggest to you to make sure to keep the fluid changed once a year or every 15k miles. A drain and fill is all that is required. You could try alternate fluids such as the synthetics that are compatable with this tranny which uses Toyota Type IV. Amsoil, Mobil 1 synthetic transmission fluid which says specifically that it replaces for the toyota fluid, and Castrol oil multi vehicle which states that it is a replacement. Make sure it say for Type IV, not to be confused with Dexron IV....not the same thing. Good luck, enjoy your car...
  4. lOOK FORWARD to your future projects and happy new year...I hope it is a great year for you. B) B) B)
  5. I found a rattle on my RX400h was on the tire cover....added some foam and rattle gone...I cant remember whether the ES has tire under carriage like the RX400 does...but it was a simple fix.....
  6. I think its the compartment for a purse below the shifter. Oh man I thought that was where the bowling ball belonged.....
  7. The issue may be that you are using platinum plugs, hopefully not Bosch...they are crap....The correct plug is either Ngk or denso iridium plugs which will last an easy 125k miles....The other thing that can be happeningis that moisture is getting in the plug hole...I would use dielectric grease on the rubber boot that contacts the plug. i have pulled my plugs at 125k and have zero corrosion and the [plugs looked like new. The coils will fail if there is corrosion which can cause arcing.
  8. dont forget the disasterous and expensive inverter recall on the RX400h hybrid....
  9. yea it is the about the only thing we have left that we truely produce....not made in china
  10. happy 2012. lets hope and move to a more constructive society, one with american can do as our slogan.
  11. If it leaks, why cant it be repaired....unless the casing is cracked why wouldnt a new gasket, or gasket maker work...Is the sealing supposed to be so difficult that it cant be done in the shop....Seems very strange to me....
  12. welcome
  13. I believe supply and demand are the real factors overall.....Politics are also used to create huge profits when the greed factor crops up....I would love to test the drill our own and see what happens to the saudi's.....just my two cents worth.
  14. sOh man, I too felt the magnificent power of the 400h....I am a 61 year old guy, but like most your age dThaid exactly the kind of thing you did....foolish, yes, fun , yes....mAN I GUESS POLITICAL CORRECT has made our society forget the fun in taking those risks, being different, and not being a drone to the rest of society...Just be careful, I usually picked back roads or areas where nobody was at risk....I will admit have lost a few friends to their foolishness, but usually it involved alcohol....thank you for reminding me of those days when I hit the freeway with my dads Corvette Stingray and opened it up giving me that since of exhiliration. Hey now i wouldnt feel comfortable doing this, my reflexes have slowed down, and I am afraid my skills from racing would be poor now. Just be safe, dont let these folks get you down too much, they all have done the same things somewhere in the past, if not, well too bad. Just remember it is not your life alone that is at risk..no one should ever be at risk for your fun....And yes the RX400h is a blast to drive....unlike those old men LS sleepers.
  15. When the car is off, you are feeling the most resistance, because the booster is not working without vacuum from the engine....Did you bleed the rear right side first, than the left, and then the right front and last the left front? You may just still have some air in the system...Take it for a spin around the block and repeat the bleed again...It will probably get better. As for the car being on it doesnt absolutely have to be, the Abs however may still have air in it....that is why he said leave the car on....
  16. I would do nothing. The coolants of today will last an easy 5 years as long as you have no cooling problems...contaminants are induced from the cast iron block, and electrolysis between many of the the dissimilar metals, but if no water other than distilled is added the minerals should be fairly stable. The no silicates coolants of today are just plain fantastic....They lubricate and keep corrosion to a minimum.
  17. would be completely useless other than a pursuit car...can you imagine a cage and some low life in the back seat kicking out the side panels...or maybe only they use it when picking up an executive after they ransacked the company for millions...my we wouldnt want them to ride in a crappy crown victoria....
  18. Yes, the 400h is a kick in the pants when you want it. Felt like my dad's old 66 corvette stingray....
  19. I wonder if a good glass shop could fix that without replacing the glass....
