Your tutorials and methods are very well done. I love the details and the pictures that explain everything to the point step-by-step. I tried your kickdown cable trick and messed around with that the other day. It was interesting to observe the shifting patters. I have it running in the middle closer to the "hard point" Great difference it made.

The Free Mod Series - Part 1: Faster Shifting
NeiLtYmE replied to Toysrme's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
did your adjustments help the downshifting at all? -
before you did any sort of lowering youd wanna make sure the offsets on your wheels are appropriate. With your second choice in suspension, ill tell you now that the ride will be very rough, and you may not like it. I stuck with the first one cause like u, im pretty young and this is my only daily driver. And take my advice on the fact that the eibachs are just overall much better balance between comfort and leaness in driving. with that you can get either KYB's for a smoother ride or Tokico's for a stiffer ride as the struts. Either will work nicely.

true, very little difference in acceleration. hmm.. i wonder why that is being that it is a larger engine by .3 L

You should see the new KIA Amanti. That car is notoriously loaded for a kinda company that produces it... http://kia.com/amanti/amanti-features.php i dont know if youve ever seen it... but looks can be decieving i guess. Hell, the price too

OOoo a wood wheel. that must definetely be thier flag ship model right there.
-
i think that goes as a standard for almost everything today. Think about homes. The modern homes built in the last 5-10 years are nothing in quality compared to the ones built in the 60's and 70's. unrelated, i know... just had to type the 02 plus models are definetly quality built. But there does seem to be something lacking there ? perhaps that i dont own one.

yep, nissan is definetely trying hard. Does anyone know the faith of Mitsubishi? Cause their trying too. Especially with the new warraties thier coming out with.

i love the 05 models. the projector heads and the new tails are really working for me.. as well as the larger wheels looking more accomdating. really does make a worlds of difference for the latter generation. Cant ever forget the 92-96 because of the way they keep thier prestine. Most people look at the 92 and cant tell they are 14 years old. They would throw out a guess.. like 98 or that sort. That and i have a 96 myself. And soon will have a second : 2000 LS :D

probably from folks that try to come up with any reason they can find to diss lexus. Mainly, honda lovers... or those who cant afford one, or have had bad experiences ... etc

how is that higher maintenance? HID's last longer than regular bulbs. And thier equipment isnt too extensive.
-
i would think if you have better visibility then you are a bit safer, seeing as you would have a higher reaction time in certain incidents. in the past few years, especially this year more and mroe manufacturers are starting to add on xenon lights. But there was a time where they were strictly on high-end cars. As most of you have, Vision in a HID automobile does not compare to anything elss. As for autoleveling... well i understand the strict rules to that becuase of the increasing amount of SUV's that have Xenon's. Surely thier hieght is extremely blinding to oncoming traffic ... as well as to those that are driving in front of them. To say the least, I hate SUV's. Thats where the govnt should regulate.
-
its not absolutely necessary to have autoleveling motors. In the long run i dont think its the fact that HID's cost more for manufacters, its probably the whole point of costing more since its a "luxury" optional feature on so many cars... or that is an additional safety feature becuase its soo much brighter and better looking than non-xenon.

yeah, thats cause your foglights are on the sides of your bumper. Originally mine were in the middle.... and much dimmer then the latter generations. but my new set up has them on the sides too
-
oof. for some reason i though the avalon and gs platform was the same. ACTUALLY, the representative at the North American Auto Show in Detroit told me that, While i filled out a JD power and associates survey for Lexus. Got some free goodies. But anyways, thats what she told me and i bought it then. But havent looked into it. :chairshot: = myself for believing her

I didnt think it was worth is to make the fog lights HID. Does anyone else differ? I dont think the size of the H3 bulb is large enough to produce a large beam anyways. Instead i decided to stick with silverstars. In relation to my project..... Rear side skirts, and Bumper are put on. They are from tsunami. they look phenomenal. the front bumper is in progress... there are also fog lights that were made with them which use h3 bulbs. that is what brings on my idea of makin the fogs HID's. But im defineltly leaning towards no. for those if you that are wondering...... my front end will look like this the rear and sides.... All in black ofcourse!! :D im so excited. completion is wednesday

Right, and thats why the GS and avalon are syblings. :chairshot:
-
Thats true.... Thanks, i tried!!

I have one question about my install though.... having placed my ballasts on the bar on top of the light projectors inside the engine bay (as my pic shows) those new holes in the metal that i had to make for the placement, they wont rust will they?? I figured they wouldnt since its inside the engine bay and away from salt, rain, etc... right ??

i just cant believe how many people bag on the ES without knowing jack about lexus. They call is "usless" and "lame" and should be "removed" from the line. Ive heard a few of my friends say that before and i really get on thier case. If they really understood what the car was about, then id understand..... but to some jack ol honda fan... they just dont see past going fast in strait line. And it is one of the highest selling cars in its segment.

take it to a body shop, perhaps there is a way to stick that plastic clip back on there... Glue ect.....
-
and then they burn your stock wires, and u wonder why you ever went through that. I cant believe how many of those are in circulation around EBay. its insane.... and yet apparently people still buy them. :chairshot:
-
tis a mightly old thread my friend. Haha, yup. When i did my marble wood trimming, i pulled out the trim panel... after doing that the shifter base plastic just snaps off.
-
stocks are real weak. which is why i had to switch. Its basically plug n play i guess... excpet that you have ballast for the new type of power. xenondepot.com is where i got them, and all information is there. Remember your low beams are 9006. Another alternative to HID's are silverstars. They arent nearly as bright, but they are much better tthan original stocks... only until u buy those HID's that is !!!!
