  1. Ah, that's kind of obvious, especially when I had problems IDing the throttle body. The turbo looks a little small to me, because I'm thinking in order to produce 600+ hp you'd need close to a junk yard dog-turbo/semi's size turbo charge. My hp rating was closer to 400-450 hp, like the one in Getaway in Stockholm 2. The Nitros part I wasn't thinking about, but now that you say it, that extra blue cable going to the intake could be a nitros relay. Chances are I'll know more, when i swap out my GE for the GTE. I'm more of a driver than a mechanic, although I can build an open wheel car. I might pick up the book though.
  2. but it looks some much like a plastic cover.
  3. I was thinking it was a 600+ car, but without a blower, supercharger, or another turbo, i can't vision that. Besides that turbo is kind of small. Grinch, I know Endlebrock has made a Throttle body with a miniturized blower in it. True it was on a Boss Mustang, but it does kick a$$.
  4. I don't think the wood trim on my SC is real. Can anybody tell me otherwise.
  5. To be honest with you we don't have your car infront of us, hence the reason why we're hesitant to give you a good analysis. If you live near Washington DC I could take a look at it. You could take the car to Toyota or Lexus for an analysis. Sure you'll be paying them close to $100, but they should analysis correctly. You could also have them fix it. If the problems isn't fixed, you can always until they fix it or refund your money. BTW: Why did you pay $700 for the Coolant Reservoir? I though you'd change that yourself. I was hoping were going to pay $700 for the water pump, but not the reservoir. I would suggest changing the thermostat yourself. It's really easy. For your V8 Lexus SC400--I would recommend buying some 50/50 antifreeze from Walmart or Pepboys. I would also recommend a very large bucket, and a good set of Metric tools--no Standards. Definietely get some decent tools, specifically the ones below. I picked up a set from Walmart for $17-18. Best investment. Also, you'll definitely need a new Thermostat. Lexus or Pepboys will have that. It doesn't hurt to get a good pair of socket wrenches either. Lift the front end up on stands/jacks-bricks behind the rear tires. Drop on the floor, and search for the white coloured plug connected at the bottom of the radiator. Once located, put the bucket underneath and open the plug, and the radiator car. Let it empty out, completely. You're likely to remove the plastic covers infront of the hose. There are two bolts holding the hose connector. Caution, there is a good chance some antifreeze will come out, so keep a towel nearby. Once you've removed the screws, move the hose connector out of the way. The thermostat is inside the part connected to the ENgine. A counter-clockwise twist will remove that. Compare the two Thermostats to eachother. Reconnect-clockwise, reconnect the hose back, and put the radiator plug back in. Fill up your radiator with the 50/50 antifreeze, and restart the engine. If you still have the problem, maybe it's time to have Toyota take a look at it. Sorry I can't offer specifics, but like I said before, we don't have your car infront of us. You could always post something titled Help- with your city and state in the title. See if there's another lexus enthusiast who can analyze your problem.
  6. Nice. I opted for the cheaper version. The one that requires pumping the brake. :)
  7. Man, I feel like buying the 04 LS. Know what you mean sw03es. I do believe Lexus is trying to keep their current luxury customers, and at the same time, they're offering German auto owners to try out a very reliable, and cheap Japanese auto. All though, that $70k price is really high. :(
  8. You mean Photoshop?
  9. I hear ya. That's why it took me so little time to clean. <_< Did I mention, i didn't have to cover up anything?
  10. Have you tried to use Lemon Pledge to clean the area? Use some muscle on it. Are the finger prints kind of bumpy on the wood? if not, I don't think the previous owner used a petrolium based oil or wood finish. I would also recommend to you, checking out our "Visit LexusCarCare.com for ALL your Lexus Detailing Products and Free Detailing Tips" listed in the grey area. It has many important tricks and tips that you might find interesting.
  11. I have my doubts if it's compatible with the Stock Pioneer/Nakamichi systems.
  12. Well you don't have too many options. How much rotor do you have left? That's what you should use to determine if you need new rotors or not. If you have the money then I'd look for some Crossdrilled and slotted Rotors. There are a couple of companies that have made stock size ones.
  13. It looks like they're just the mufflers. So I'm guessing it's an axleback <_< . I've never hear it called that before, until now.
  14. Good job. Does your bleeder kit have to pump on?
  15. Yeah, me too.
  16. No, that looks like a ethene or endlebrok blower. Grinch, do you see another turbo anywhere? It still says 2JZGE on the side of the spark plug box? Whose engine is this?
  17. Wow, a 92 with 29,000 miles. Definitely run the Carfax, and you should probably check the oil and power up. I would definitely recommend taking it to Lexus, and have them throughly check the car out. It's called a Pre-Certification Inspection. Cost around $150-250. Lexus has the best information to provide, so that's something to think about. BTW, what's the asking price?
  18. You're right it doesn't look like the traditional GE engine, a lot of us have. Definitely modified. It almost looks like there's a supercharger and a turbo. It's not a GTE, no Twin Air intakes on the right. Need a better look. :)
  19. I agree with you about that. Personally, I think the two colours should be closer--tonewise like the two tone on my LS, I could live with that, but the NOPI version SC, :whistles:
  20. Hey you cheated. You oiled your hoses and everything. I think you forgot to oil a spot on your upper radiator hose
  21. Hey don't you 99LS guys have Hepafilters on your Lexi's? If anybody's interested, I'm planning on getting a filter for my 94. If you're interested, let me know. I can do a group buy.
  22. So guys, how much is Jim Walker charging for the rebuild? I've seen some of Jims' work, and it's pretty good. I used Mikado before and they charged me $295 with express Shipping(sorry bob), but if there's a cheaper place than them, I'd switch.
  23. It sounds like the Fuel Injectors are getting clogged. It also doesn't hurt to pour some Dry Gas into the fuel tank, if you live in a rather cold climate zone,
  24. Tony: Have you had the opportunity to check out our Buy and Sell Forum. You might come accross one there. Other places to find one would be on Autotrader.com, Cars.com, or Ebay.com. You should find something on those three. I personally have come accross a number of them. Good luck.
