  1. Also when was the last time you did a coolant flush?
  2. It is kind of close to the head gasket. It's possible the gasket's on its way out. How many miles? Any other leaks from underneath the car? Look about the Oil filter, transmission pan, rear-main seal, rear-differential, power steering pump, and EGR. The SC3s are notorious of having under-engine leaks especially on high-mileage ones. Ask the guy from some maintenance records, who did the work, credentials? Look for paint-imperfections, discolourations, body-damage, headlight and tail light fade and function, coin-test on the tires, and off-course test drive (high and low speeds(vibrations and noises), quick turns(feeling and pulsation from the steering rack), braking(pulsation), air-filters, oil level, and status of the battery(if you have the guage). If any of the above are not meeting your requirement expect to spend $$$. So far I've spent $3k in parts and labour, and it's spread out since i bought the car in 2003. there is some place I didn't look before I bought mine. Spare-tire, tools, and under the car-jack. See if it's wet. Mine smelled because the antenna gasket broke and was leaking rain water. Be as thorough with your investigation because once you own it, there's no backing out w/o selling it, and you won't get the same price easily. i'm sure most of us will help you with the process.
  3. Don't know how many miles is on your car or when the PSP or the alternator was changed last. I'm going to assume your alternator is on it's way out, dimming and flickering lights are a good sign of loss. It will be easier to troubleshoot once the alternator, and depending the battery- are replaced. I believe one of our Sponsors-JPI is located in Houston. You might want to look him or another Lexus/toyota tech up. I would suggest replacing both PS and Alternator, along with serpentine belt, water pump, thermostat, and the coolant-summermonths ahead.
  4. doesn't BMW use a different weight oil?
  5. It's either that, or your short might be in the Alarm system. Have you tried to unplug the Battery to see if the problem re-occurs?
  6. Kybel: There are a couple of Pinned threads that have the specs that you're looking for. You can also use the Search Feature on the Forum to guide you with any other little questions you may have. The Sc400 is fast, and has a pretty good suspension. Both the SC3/4 do. The powerplant onbaord the SC4 is better compared to the SC3-Stock, but since there are a number for power options you can upgrade to, that's where the SC3 will shine. Think of the Toy. SUPRA GTE when you're thinking the SC3. Not sure if you're looking for Automatic or Standard. Remember the SC4 only comes in automatic. The SC3 come in Standard-5sp but an extremely rear commodity. It took me a year to find mine.
  7. Must have sucked something Very Nice.
  8. that's pretty. the kit fits the car well.
  9. Why is there a Beamer in the Lexus Owners Club???
  10. No: I had to change my all of my o2 sensors when I got the Code 25 and 31 especially for a car with so many miles. I'm also thinking it's bad ignition coil or fuel. Any hesitation during startup, e.g bouncing needle? Any chance of stopping by a Toyota Dealer or locating a Certified Toyota Master at an aftermarket store?
  11. I believe the OEM is Bosch Platinum. I wouldn't recommend the Iridium; it doesn't last the full 60k miles.
  12. i agree. i'm opting for an 04 ls430
  13. It's not going to be for a while. A fully equipped one is still in the mid to high $40s. Way above my income.
  14. Hey guys: Has any GS450H drivers written any reviews about their car. I haven't look through the rest of the forum--little impatient; I'd appreciate any comments, experiences and problems the New GS Hybrid is experiencing after purchase. I'm interested in replacing my aging LS w/ 200k miles on it. Thanks
  15. I'll ask him. If he's soliciting business; his business can go through the proper channels. Thanks guys.
  16. 97 lexus Writes: "I HAVE A 97 LX450 AND MY DISC CHANGER KEEPS GIVING ME AN ERROR CODE 23 DOES THE CHANGER NEEED TO BE REPLACED OR CAN IT BE FIXED?" ------------------------------ I believe all electronic devices can be repaired by a qualified electronics store. There should be one in your home town that you can take the reader to and have them repair it. When I lived in Syracuse, NY I went to a place called United Radio and they could rebuild anything. http://www.unitedradio.com/auto_dealers.shtml You should be able to find out if they can work on it.
  17. shayan: Would you mind discussing some of your problems? Perhaps we could help you with them. Also, before you bought the car did you ever test it, or was it an Ebay purchase?
  18. Is it solid as a rock or does it move a little? Tapping is the best solution if it moves a little.
  19. I don't know, that ES and IS do have some similar lines. The only distinction I could make was the front bumper cover. IS with a more aggressive and the ES with a more conservative one. The ES is a little wider compared to the IS, and the Grills have different patterns to them. The family traits are definitely there and showing. It definitely gives them character. Anyway, let;s get back the LS. Anybody else say it's too much of a BMW 7-series? BTW SW, you're not a dork, just a flake who needs a life.
  20. Hey guys: I just finished watching Autoline Detroit-their review for the North American Car of the Year, and many journalists are not completely satisfied with the LS. The Merc S-Class is being praised for it's effort and is on a lot of #1 lists. It is possible that the LS won't make the cut in styling, performance, and handling. Now Tony Swan from Car&Driver said it was similar to a Buick. Ouch! I don't agree with this, but based on some of these reviews and some of the comments made of other threads especially last gen LS owners, perhaps the 07 LS won't be the ultimate luxury vehicle. (please don't beat me up) I would love to see a TRD or L-Sportline version of the LS with a better Suspension package, power choice, and a few other performance options. I think this would also help the manufacturer better understand the demands in the North American Market today. It seems to me is turning towards euro-tuned performance and styling market. Any comments?
  21. Yeah, that Hybrid is expensive, but it is the only Hybrid/best fuel economy on the market amongst lux sedans. kudos
  22. Actually, i'm having a problem distincting the Lexus cars. Just yesterday I mistook a GS for an IS in the dark. I think it's because we're not used the models yet, and haven't been exposed to the differences yet. Smile guys.
  23. I think the side markers are very important. I've been tempted to change lanes without know if the guy next to me wants to do the same; which is why I converted the corner lights to blinkers, and added another set of side markers. On our busy highways, and since I change lanes so often, it kind-off prevents others from coming into my lane. I'm sick of my 94LS. I'm probably going to change years or cars altogther in the near future. Also need to get out of Premium Fuel cars; it's costing me a freakin fortune. Lexuus: You can't close your windows from the FOB anymore? That doesn't sound right. Was it programmed?
  24. That's a better price than what I paid for mine.
