  1. SKperformance a place like that in nyc would charge an arm and a leg ;) i mean how will they find leak if there is no water in car now, after i dried it, i ll turn on heat/ac and see if that causes anything as well if not, then i ll just put carpet back and forget about it, duno how it got there b4 though ; ( . also firewall seems mint . (now that i think about it, they cleaned engine pretty well , maybe while doing so the water got in while they were using the power washer or w/e they use to clean engine bay) but i would have notised water earlier when i gotten it. since i drove it for like few month b4 feeling the carpet being wet) . for now only explenations could be AC . but i ll know when i use it, but i know for fact that when i used it water was leaking outside so it seems to work fine. :shrug : what is intake tubing? and how is that related? vcv10guy : no rubber seals seem just fine, not dry and look perfect to me . i had leak there in my bonneville a while back, i replaced them and it still leaked, had to silicone and *BLEEP* heh. but es300 has nice one's that are not loose or anything. thanx guys, time will show, ill let u guys know i have quick question also, would bad IACV or egr cause MPG to drop? just curious thanx again
  2. Hey guys, well i m posting again about my leak, after i dried everything up, i poured like 5 buckets of water on my car, looked inside, NO LEAK, going to wash it as well and check after, but it seems there is no leak and drains work fine. SO HOW DID IT GET THERE BEFORE? My guess is one time i was standing where there was a high level of water on street and it seeped in. Also when it rained hard i drove car on right side where there was a lot of water on street. can water some how get in from outside if u go through a it?? can it get in somehow through the bottom of car or front? the leak was found only in front pass side under the carpet any ideas? thanx Ilya
  3. hey there, i noticed u talked about the sub install and wanted to ask u few questions first, you said to run "remote turn on and tap it to the fuse box" where do u tap it though? for it to turn on every time u turn on the radio. also you said to connect line ouput converter to rear speakers, but in my 97 es300 they are in doors, do i connect the line output converter near the head unit then ? and run rca's from there? or there is way to find rear speaker wires w/o too much trouble? do i have to remove the seats to run the wires to the back? or it can be done w/o picking them up? is there a hole in firewall where you can easily pass the wires w/o drilling? and last, would i need any sound deadner? or lexus is pretty solid and does not make vibrating noises thanx a lot hope to hear your sugestions Ilya
  4. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/uploa...-1092765062.jpg does that picture reflect 97 es300 as well? because it dont look like that on my es300, and under the intake hose the iacv looks white, so i duno if thats the one or not? got it, heh, i should not have posted nothing, just wasted space, well I m going to turn it into a diffrent question, can the clogged egr, and dirty sensor effect the fuel economy? thanx guys
  5. IACV and EGR , heh should have done the stall search before posting, I ll try to clean those, if i find where they are, if some one has a picture, i d appreciate it thanx
  6. hey, I think i read this somewhere before, some one said to replace some sensor or something, but i cant remamber.. basicly it happaned one time before and now today again. After driving , I turned off car, and wanted to turn it back on again to move it back, and the RPM's drop and car stalls when i tried to start it again and give gas it still stalled. I waited a few seconds, and it started, but then when i turned it off and on again , it stalled again, I mean its not a big deal to me, but sometimes might prove to be annoying, So i m wondering, how much is the fix? and if i should worry about it ? well I m going to turn it into a diffrent question, can the clogged egr, and dirty sensor effect the fuel economy? thanx Ilya
  7. dont cars eat more gas in winter time? yes it eats more cause u keep warming car up for few minutes before going, but some ppl just start and go , in any temperatures, and they still have more gas consumption, I remamber that some one said that they add something in fuel in winter, but I dont really know My car eats a lot of gas, I get like 15-18mpg, city, I dont want to bother doing tune up, cause its not worth it, since i only drive like 5-7 k a yr, spending $ on it would be a waste . Eventually i ll check it out, but over 6mpg, i wont bother
  8. thank you guys, I appreciate it. I did search it my self before asking , but for some odd reason I was getting some other results. Duno why that happaned, prolly user error ;) anyways thanx again
  9. hey, just wondering if any one had this problem . I have water on passenger side carpet in front. Usually after the rain. Does that mean that the drain is clogged? and if it is, can I fix it my self or would need to take to mechanic. I hightly doubt it just leaks somewhere. Dad had same problem with his Chevy Blazer but it was clogged drain If any one has some information let me know thank you P.S this is 97 es300 with 125k miles
  10. i thought it was in 98 they did that?
  11. I would get a new Head Unit that gives like 50-55 watts, (that would prolly have some improvement over what you have now) but if its not enough you can do what is written below if you want to upgrade the speakers you would need a amp to drive fronts and rears ( stocker would not be enough ) and probably would need to get component set for front out of curiousity, how is the subwoofer hooked up now? do you know? cause i want to isntall mine, but i cant find where to tap the wires for the line converter since speakers are inside doors and not in back
  12. mine does that, people suggested doing a tune up, but I am too lazy for that, and doubt it would help, I think its because of fuel pressure try putting the ignition key on ON position for few seconds or doing it few times, and then start car, if it starts right away, that means that the fuel pressure is built before car was started. But it not there if the car was not driven/started for a while. I just know to hold it half-1second longer when i first start car, and I have no problems, I dont think you should worry that much, concerning battery, I doubt it, check if Batt light comes on, or check with v oltmeter, but I doubt that its anything to worry about hope this helps
  13. when my brother in law left ebrake on for like 20 miles in my bonneville, he burned both my rear brakes, and one of the cylinders started leaking, after a half a yr 2nd cylinder went out too, , but that was drum brakes, not sure how diffrent it is from lexus since its disk brakes on here, i guess like guys said, if did not wear out brakes, or if it still holds, then you are ok ; )
  14. bought a new remote door opener from ebay for 35 dollars shipped , ( mine was working but the end where you place the hoop to secure to keys was broken off .) This one was new with new battery and directions, At first directions looked like a puzzle heh, i read and read it, did not understand nothing, desided to just go and do it, first time did not work, 2nd time it did, but I was unsure cause with door opened it made noise when i pressed close heh, DUH, it wont close door it its unlocked heh closed doors, used remote, and everything worked great, technology rules ;) JUST CURIOUS, if you end up loosing one remote, can u delete the other remotes programs, and then redo the coding, and that would make the lost remote program ineffective? or something else should be done thanx
  15. too much $ look elsewhere, mine was 7400 and thats a 97 with 115k hope this helps
  16. BKCHIQ, First of all if I wanted to install aftermarket head unit I would. Second, I would not pay some one to install stuff for me that I know how to do my self. and I dont really have $ to pay some one, or buy a new HU, thats why I was looking at other ways so that I can keep my stock HU. I reather not install anything, then spend 200-250 on HU, 20 on addapter, 25 for RCA wire, So thanx but no thanx. I ll figure it out, maybe i ll just tap it by the HU and run a long rca wire, which I dont really want to do, thanx for your insight, but I ll try to do it another way, For now I ll drive it w/o bass, untill I figure out a way to do what I want. thanx
  17. Lincoln town car (especially the older one's) are the best in luxury ride, Nothing beats a lincoln in smoothness , since its pretty soft and is like a boat so u dont real any bumps, at least thats what i heard from people who drove them for years, and seats in there are like couches, lexus is smooth but its more solid ride in my opinion, hope this helps, they also say that no other car beats cadillac in luxury.
  18. I just asked around and they said that I CAN NOT splice it into the sub line, since its amplified. I want to use AudioLink PowerLink II is there a way to easily get to the rear speaker wires? cause i know they are inside the doors and not in back next to the sub ; (
  19. hey guys, I plan on installing a 10 inch sub in the lexus, and I was wondering about few things. 1) is there a hole in firewall somewhere where I can run a 8gauge wire ( i seen some plug on pass side next to where other wires run , is that it? ) 2) where can I tap the turn on wire for the amp, so it only goes on in ON position, and would I need some sort of RELAY? 3) How can I secure the sub box? can i just put 2 L brackets on the box and screw it directly to the base (chasis of car?) or would I hit something? I doubt the gas tank is that close though 4) whats best way to face sub in es300? i was thinking, having it all way next to seat facing back into the end of the car, or I can have it on side facing other side, but I think first way is best? 5) how can I connect the rear subwoofer wires to my current amp? do i need some sort of translator? that i plug in rca wire and run to my amp? I recall seing some one post something like that before? does that work ok? Any info would be appreciated, Thank you , Ilya
  20. well it "sort of does say 60k" but usually its 90k ; ) depending on model etc, but I say worry about other stuff ; )
  21. since its 83 k i would not worry about it, especially since its non-interference engine, mine is 97 with 126k and I dont even think about tbelt, also friend got 155k on his 99 and he did not change his ( which I think is fairly ricky) but his is INTERFERENCE, 96 and 97 is not, also you almost never hear of a toyota belt snapping, but if you like to change stuff and spend $ go for it, or also try what Alan suggested . Also mechanics usually can tell if tbelt was changed or not by just looking at cover, they can see some how if it was ever taken off or not good luck
  22. Lexusfreak, Ye i have the the air gauge, and air filter is new, i will be checking plugs that i can get to easily soon, and will prolly just replace fuel filter, but i would probably guarantee that it will not improve gas performance, As funny as it is, all the cars we had in nyc we had problems with gas, dads first car was plymouth voyager, ate gas likea horce and was v4, he replaced ALMOST EVERYthing and still nothing, next was my bonneville, it gotten 14mpg, and at end even with tune ups etc it was getting 12-14, my talon was diffrent, cause i was messing with fuel etc, but it still at like 17-18 mpg, not dads chevi blazer eats 10mpg , and tune up did not do any improvement for him, i think its just the conditions of where we live, since i can be at a light for 2-3 minutes, and see 3 lights like that plus other stops/lights, so thats like 5 minutes of idling even on a 10 min trip, and idling burns gas like crazy too ; ) i ll see how my next gas tank will be, and i ll see how it does on lower octane fuel, usually lower octane lasts 20% longer in all our cars that we had thanx
  23. "Hmm, you might want to do as others have suggested and look in to a tune-up. I just filled my tank today. Went a total of 415.0 miles and used 16.50 gallons to fill-up. That figures to be 25.15 MPG and that is also with about 50/50 city and freeway driving. " well your car is 4 years younger, and prolly has much less miles on it, and i m sure california city driving is like highway driving in nyc ; ) also , did you have AC on at that time?
  24. " Page 46 of my 2002 Lexus Owner's Manual ES 300. " I stand corrected then ; ) thanx for pointing that out,
  25. well a lot of "pro" guys you speak of are prolly guys like you and me who got a job installing car audio ; ) I dont really know what happaned with him frying the amp, but I m sure its possible, i had a few sparks before next to my amp when i was installing wires ; ) " tip: dont connect the power wire to the battery when installing it to amp haha :" cause i shorted it out with screwdriver, amp worked after though ; ) heh I guess its good to know what u doing, but u can always learn by trying, I think when i ll be installing my sub in car, I will ghetto the remote wire so that it just comes from power wire, but that would cause amp to be on ALL TIME when car is started, So i would have to run a wire back into cabin, and put a switch on it, I dont know if thats the best idea, but it beats taking out the head unit to find the " turn on wire" if any one has better idea? or know a place to connect to inside the engine bay, feel free to let me know, cause that would be a bit nicer. thanx
