  1. I think 18 mpg is fine, I m getting 14-17 in city/highway, but i think its because its NYC and we got ethylene in 87 octane, I ll try cleaning the pvc/replacing it, HOW did you cleam maf? if i do motorvac would i need to clean maf/replace pvc thanx
  2. NOT hard, but you will probably need to remove the dash thats in front of the passanger, it is held by 3 screws on top and around 1 + bolt on bottom and it removes all together with the glove compartment together. maybe if you can just remove the glove compartment door then you dont have to remove the whole thing. This is done in order to get to the last screw that holds the fan in place, the other 2 are easy to do from bottom by removing the black cover thats right over the feet. thats about it, remove 3 screws and unplug and pull it out, whala ; ) good luck
  3. ok I think the mystery leak was found. After removing the fan, the water was leaking through there. SO this is what happaned, during winter the water leaked inside to the fan, when it got cold the water froze making the fan not able to spin. When it got warm the fan started spinning again and water was going inside my carpets and under. After some time being frozen the fan stoped working all together, till i pulled it out and spinned it by hand, now it works fine, LAst thing is left to fix the leak, I think its leaking in between the windshield and firewall. HOpefully they can seal it up next week withought removing and reinstalling the front windshield. I m glad i was able to find the leak, if i did not remove the heater fan, i think it would be almost impossible to see where its leaking from because the water would come from wrong side after hitting the fan and leaking out. I think once that is fixed i ll end up keeping the car, I like it a lot. WIll install the subwoofer in back and maybe tint windows, and in summer might do radiator flush/ clean iacv, or do motorvac, and maybe plugs/wires. thanx for help and hope this info helps future people with similar problems
  4. hey guys, Is this heater /ac fan? if ye i ll get new one tomorow, since I think its bad, I should double check it, but i checked voltage to it, and i gotten 10volts when i turn on the a/c / heat, so i m guessing its bad but i m just double checking to make sure its heater fan heh, looks like it though and any idea what that hose on left side on passanger side is, its going down its about half-1 inch thick, its going through the front rubber deadner too. I d like to know what flows through that, because I think thats what causing the leak thank you Ilya
  5. green is tough color too, i mean you can try, put 8499 sale price, and maybe u get 8k if some one really likes it but if they dont they can try to drop off 1k, so 7500 or so, which aint too bad good luck and not having info on what was done is not a big deal, I mean it helps but I dont think it will make a big deal if person likes the car, just list all the things that you have done to car and sound believable and people will not care.
  6. Hey guys, I think my heater /ac fan is not working after the water leak. Where is it located? and if it is near heater core do you have to remove the whole dash to get to it? Also on passanger side near the left foot there is this hose going down, what is that? its around 2inches thick (might be leaking water there?) thanx
  7. 6500-7500 If i m going to sell my 97 with 130k I d want to get 7200 for it.
  8. where is the fuse? in engine bay or next to left foot inside car? plus which fan are you talking about?
  9. what can cause the AC /heat not to work at all? The panel shows that its on but no air comming from the vents?
  10. hey guys, I dont know if its leak related or not, but my heat/AC stopped working. I turn it on, and controll it just fine, but there is no air comming out from the vents. This has happaned before when car had leak inside, but as it got warmer the heat/ac came back on. NOW everything is dry since i removed carpet all together to try to find the leak, but the A/C and heat air dont work Any suggestion? can it be a bad fuse? if so which should i check under hood or inside cabin? also can it be some other part? another question related to leak, is there a door in front of car that has air going to it, so if its not fully closed it can suck in water from the street if u drive over a puddle? and can the drain condenser hose leak even if there is no AC/heat on in car? thanx in advance
  11. ebay 25-45 bux, make sure you get the right #, check one you have and get same #, and you are set, good luck,
  12. when I bought the car, i took it to a friends dad, and he used quaker state oil, and he said its good, and that i should check it after like 2k miles to see how clear it is. and what do you know, after 2k it looked very clean, (this dont mean that all cars will be like that because in my old cars most other brand oils were dark after 2k,) but quaker state seems to be clean in the lexus. But i bet that mobil/castrol etc will be clean in newer lexus as well. But from now on I will be using regular quaker state till I see something better, or something that will convince me otherwise. ON filters I am not sure, but i think any filter will do if you keep changing it in the 3k mile range. good luck
  13. I used it and did not see any improvements, but its a good idea to try and from reading about it it seems one of best, and to use it, it tells you how on the bottle, good luck
  14. hey, me again, I wanted to ask if ac condenser can have anything to do with leak inside car? I had leak, i dried it up, it got cold Heat stoped working, it shows that its on but nothing is blowing. after it got warmer heat started working. So how is that related to the leak? is condenser some how freezes and keeps in water and when it getss warmer it unfreezes and leaks inside car? can that be possible? mechanincs tested with pressure tester and everything seems fine any ideas? if i cant fix it, i will leave till sumer , dry it all up and hope no more leak, if it leaks again i ll just start yanking the damn dash, they quoted me 6 hrs to get to the condenser, 390 bux, heh YE RIGHT , aint paying that . time will show if u got any ideas let me know, I hate little probs like this ; (
  15. mrsel3 : well it was on 1810 utica i think its utica and J,thats in bk ny but i m sure any other show will do it for similar price, my friend paid 220 and they buffed his rotors which was in another shop . for me was just brake install,
  16. Hey just had my brakes done, it took guy like 10 min for each side, pretty fast, i wonder if i can do it next time myself. but 190 aint too bad for front + back, he did not install OEM though, he used some seramic mintex or something brand, HE claimed they are much nicer then stock. I guess i ll see. they also spent 1 hr looking for my leak, they tested with pressure tester , heater core/ etc is fine. holds pressure fine. they cant find the damn leak, when i came into shop my Heat was not working, after 2 hrs there, it started working, so it has something to do with the condenser? they quoted 390 to have dash removed, and looked at condenser, I think il l wait till summer , dry everything up, and hopefully not have a problem, or might just tackle the removing of dash my self, to save some $$ GRRR I HATE LEAKS heh : ( anyways thanx guys
  17. today i washed car, and looked under carpet and it was wet, i should have checked it out before i washed it to see if it was due to the heater. now i cant really know if its that or from washing car . the leak is on the left side of pass side, i have no idea where its comming from, and while messing around there i found some wires that are together and are cut, like 5 wires in total, dont know what they do , this stuff is very annoying ; ( thinking about selling car and getting another one just like it, but i dont really want to make some one else mess with this stuff, and if i get new car i ll be paying around 1k for tax/inpection/registration etc so i guess i ll just take to some shop and see if they can fix, time to shell out some $$ ; ( thanx
  18. Hey its me again, I m probably very annoying hehe . sorry anyways I had the leak in front pass side that i did not know where it was from. So I want to ask something, every time it gets cold my heat does not work, I set it on, it shows that its running but no hot air is blowing, after it gets warmer it starts to work. So is that related to the leak? cause if it leaks it probably freezes up some door that should be closed or opened . And cause the heat to start running Can the leak and no heat in cold weather be related? any ideas ? if heater core leaks would that cause the heat not to work in cold weather? thanx again in advance
  19. well if i have ELC , and you said you cant mix with regular , what should i do? only way is to do a full flush and put in new of any brand , I m not really sure if i have ELC or not, but it looks reddish/pinkish in color shrug, I hate all this car stuff, i thought i would not have to mess with es300 as i did with my talon, but i guess i m wrong thanx guys, i ll figure soemthing out, or will shell out 150 bux to have it flushed/filled i guess will be working free this week hehe thanx again Ilya
  20. Hey , any one has the coolant # so I can call and order it from toyota/dealer or maybe just go and pick it up there. And will that part # work for lexus/toyota? is it interchangable since its same company? i probably need 2 of those 1gal bottles right? the radiator should hold 1 or so. I think i have that reddish coolant, i just want to drain mine and fill up one bottle back, and will repeat it 2 month later so i dont have to do a full flush etc(too lazy for that) . I would want a premixed antifreeze not to have to mess with mixing. Is it hard to drain existing one in the radiator? in most cars i had i just had to unscrew one bolt and it leaked out . Any other tips? thanx guys
  21. thanx guys, I probably would not be doing it my self since its snowing in NYC again hehe and i never done my brakes on any cars, even though i worked on my talon for a while. was afraid of its rust ; ) anyways, how come the back have 2 diff part #s and is that OEM? i would probably not need the rotors, since mine look new, i just hope iw ould not have to resurface them thanx again Ilya
  22. hey , just wondering what would be the cost for front and back brake pads installed? and how much do OEM brake pads cost alone ? i m thinking abut buying them and taking it to shop to install. so they dont install me some crap kind . i hope i would not need the rotors resurfaced, i guess that would be another 30 bux front and 30 bux back? thanx
  23. I have that as well, cant figure out where its comming from (somewhere in pass side front near wheel/ or near steering wheel) duno , i just dont pay attention to it, since everything underneath is checked and seems fine, only thing it could be is probably what the guys stated above, or those links i forget name for them they small and look like this o-----o on each side of car, inside is some bushing i guess, and it moves a bit causing the sound as well from what i heard. but not 100% sure good luck
