  1. Just out of curiosity, I noticed you had jeans and a T-shirt on, and it looked overcast. What are the temps at the beach around there? Paul
  2. I can only speak for the 2010 ES generation. The car comes from the factory without the ability to roll down all windows at once. You must take it to the dealer to have this feature "activated". My 05' ES also had this feature but, the car was pre-owned to me so I don't know if it came from the factory like that or if it was dealer activated. Paul
  3. First, have you had this car since new? If so, clear coat doesn't last past a few years and any auto needs a professional exterior detailing once a year, especially in a harsh, hot, humid climate like yours with salt air as well. Even though the car is seven years old, the paint shouldn't be fading unless there has been some repainting done improperly after some damage. That is why I asked if the car was yours originally. Has it had any damage that has been repaired in those areas you mentioned.
  4. Those of us in our humble ES's, have trouble hearing the signal as well. But, unlike or brethern of the LS upper class, we can't afford the hearing aid to turn up! (Joke Jim)LOL
  5. And are serving now.....come home.
  6. The wiring harness,(a bundle of wires) is bundled together at both ends. A plug end is used to snap on to the connections of the speakers in the doors, etc. My 10' ES has the same balance capabilities as yours. If I understand you correctly, your listening with the surround feature on. Try listening with the surround feature off. The dealer should be able to contact Lexus tech support by phone initially, and then in person if needed. Let us know how you come out.
  7. That's a very interesting problem, and a new one. Never heard of it before. When you talk about phasing and wiring problems, I am guessing you mean the reversal of the polarity to the speakers on the drivers side. Correct? That would seem to be a stretch given that all the audio system wiring is prefabricated harnesses. It would seem unlikely that such a harness with plug-in ends would be able to get mixed up in such a way that it would cause the phasing problem. BUT, anythings possible. I do not have the ML in my 2010 ES, but in my 07' S80 VOLVO I have the premium DYnAudio system.(IMO better than Bang & Olfsun). Part of the DYn system is the ability to move the center channel to either a driver bias or a passenger bias. Also the surround feature can make the sound seem out of sync. sometimes and I prefer to leave it off. I don't know if your ML has the Center control feature, but if you haven't already, pour over your manual and check it out. Don't give up! If the dealer can't help you, tell them to get someone in from Lexus tech support who can. If they want you to go to a third party, make sure you get a letter from them, on their letterhead, stating that this is their instruction and it will not interfere with the original warranty. Paul
  8. My sentiments exactly. Paul
  9. No Steven, I don't know where the amp is. In some models it's under the passenger seat, others the trunk, etc. Just call the dealer and ask. It wont cost a dime.
  10. I'm really glad to hear it wasn't all in my head! It's pretty unnerving to walk out to what you thought was a securely locked car, and find it wide open. Hope the bottle rockets didn't zoom through your sun roof.
  11. I'm certainly no expert with this, but since the head unit is apparently receiving power,(volume shows up and down), I wonder if it is the amplifier. But that would not explain why it is intermittent with the ignition on/off cycle. Let's see if somebody else chimes in here.
  12. Thank you to everybody for your help in solving the "Mystery of the Half Way Window". Steve W. played Sherlock for our performance and solved the riddle. It was the depression of the unlock button for about 5 seconds or so that set off the automatic roll down feature on the ES350. Apparently, it was somehow depressed while in my pocket for just the right amount of time to roll down the windows 1/2 way, but not start the moon roof in motion. As for the signal distance issue, as Lexir pointed out, it could have happened while I was just going in or just coming out of the store. One footnote: The auto roll down feature on the 2010 ES350 is an option that must be programed by the dealer. Again, Thanks! Paul
  13. Some clarification. The car is running. the radio/CD is on and it works fine. You shut the car off. It does not work. Do You put the ignition/key in the accessory position? Or, the car has been running. You never turned on the radio/CD while it was running. You turn off the car. If you then go to turn on the radio/CD it won't play. Did you turn the ignition/key to the accessory position? You say the volume level registers and the nav. screen also lights up. Can you use the nav. screen? Does you year and model have a mute button on the steering wheel or head unit?
  14. I'll try that. It makes the most sense. Do you think however, that given the physical description of the building and the distance, that the signal could have have traveled that far?
  15. CD I think he is saying the same thing that you have to hold the button down and continue to hold to keep the windows going down. The odd thing is that the sunroof didn't open. If it was tilted as DC mentioned that would answer why the sunroof didn't open. But for the windows to be exactly 1/2 way down and the sunroof not opened at all that cant be it. You sure you didn't leave the windows half down while you were jamming out to your tunes? Paul I think you may need to chalk this one up to CRS (can't remember s h i t) I hear that it comes with increased age! :) Actually I usually pull up to a traffic light and roll down all my windows, then turn up my tunes as loud as I can so those around me can enjoy my tunes along with me!!LOL...(I hate people who do that.) I am a card carrying member of the local CRS lodge, but I think this little incident goes beyond even that. I am going to drop by the dealer tomorrow and let them scratch their heads for a while. They will probably tell me I imagined it all and recommend a good therapist.
  16. LOL....yes, the TPS syndrome began with "Saturday Night Fever" and the stretch pants phase..(if your old enough to remember.) In addition to the other things I've described, I don't understand how a TPS signal could travel thus: The car was parked in the middle of a large shopping center type parking lot. I was inside a typical Walgreen's made with brick and steel I-beam construction. My location was on the opposite side of the store from the parking lot and my estimate puts the store at about 30 yards wide. For a FOB signal to travel that far in those conditions seems to me to be a stretch.? Paul
  17. No it wasn't "dc". I hadn't had it open all day.
  18. Well, I just went out again and tried every combination I could think of to try and make the windows go down all at the same time and all at just half way. As you said Lexir, The only way I came up with is to hold down the unlock button. BUT, the windows only go down as Long as you hold the button, and they go down all the way. The moon roof opens as well and will only open as long as you hold down the button. In my scenario, the moon roof never opened. It appears this is not the solution.
  19. I was at the drugstore today. I parked, got out of the car, and locked it using the lock/unlock rocker switch on the drivers door panel.I put the FOB in my pocket and walked in the store. After being the store about twenty minutes, I came out and as I walked toward the car, I could see that all four windows were down half way. Not a 1/3 or 2/3 but exactly 1/2. My first thought was I've been robbed!! Holly crap. The car was still locked, and nothing had been touched. I started trying to figure out how someone could have gained access to the transmitter codes to mess with the windows, and if they went to all that trouble why not take the damn car! I next thought about the FOB in my pocket. What could I have accidentally hit to make this happen. Nothing I could think of. I did have the car programed so I could press the unlock button for 5 seconds or so and all the windows and moon roof would open ALL the way to let out the summer heat after it had been parked in a mall parking lot for several hours. In this case, the moon roof was not open and the windows were not all the way down. This has me stumped. Anybody out there have even a guess as to what is going on here. I would appreciate any arm chair Sherlock Holmes. Thank you, Paul
  20. I guess I'm a believer in the adage that what the mind can conceive, the hands can build. If the manufacturers listen to us, the users, they will hopefully consider the DIY'ers when they are making up the future designs. Paul
  21. More than anything, I am simply at a loss that a person could kill someone with a car and at the very least not be charged with man slaughter. I understand your point of view and I too scarf down a Quarter Pounder once and a while when we're on an interstate trip. But I feel using the label of fascist is extreme and should be saved for those governments and country's where people are truly oppressed and beaten down, and liberties such as women driving cars are forbidden.
  22. Here is a real life example where a distracted driver killed a person in Michigan and only got 30 days for the crime. Does this make Michigan a fascist state? http://autos.aol.com/article/death-by-texting-michigan-man-gets-just-30-days-for-killing-gra/?icid=main%7Chtmlws-main-w%7Cdl3%7Csec1_lnk3%7C214006 Paul
  23. I don't know about the Lexus, but I do have this capability in another car with a aftermarket backup camera. I simply flick a switch and the camera comes on when driving forward or backward. So in one case it can be done. The product is Audiovox.
  24. Do you know what the logic was behind using the bladder style tank in the first place. I'm wondering if they thought it was safer in a crash setting, i.e.,woundn't rupture as easily as a rigid tank?
