  1. Welcome to the LOC and enjoy the excellent ride! Paul
  2. There probably isn't any difference, but to make sure, I would contact "cduluk" on this forum to find out for sure. He is a true Guru about these things. PM him with your question and I feel certain he would be happy to help. Paul p.s. Please don't use all caps. It makes it sound like your yelling.
  3. Welcome from all of us! Paul
  4. Posted 20 March 2010 - 10:31 AM Found my shop manual. Will keep it under my pillow from now on. Here are the Mark Levinson stereo/speaker specs - Tweeter (these are the speakers in the A pillar) - 2cm, 8 ohms Squawker (the two up front in the dash) - 6.5cm, 8 ohms Woofer (in the front doors) - 6x9, 8 ohms Full Range (in the back doors) - 16 cm + 2 cm, 16 ohms (I think this is where they come up with the two extra to make 11 speakers) Squawker (center) - 6.5 cm, 8 ohms OUTPUT - 240 W Did a simple search of the forum and found this for you. The correct number of ohms for the sub seems to vary from 8 to 16 depending on the source. Obviously if you match the impedance you won't need an additional amp. Re; your question about aftermarket, the information I found posted indicated that most people had been unable to locate an aftermarket sub that was the correct impedance. The recommended solution was a OEM replacement, and a recommendation of ordering it from Sewell Lexus. Indicate you are a Lexus Owners Club Member and get a substantial discount. Last price I found posted was $298.75. Paul
  5. Any additional observations?
  6. Read my new post re: JD Powers. Now Number One.
  7. For maximum response, You should also post this in the CT200h forum listed below this ES category, toward the bottom of the page.
  8. Just goes to show..."Be all you can be".. wins the day!! Don't mess with the Army.
  9. Nice looking ride!!! I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think the speed cameras here are radar based. I will do some further checking into this and let you know if it is otherwise. I have read various articles regarding the license plate covers and like many things the opinions run from "Best thing Ever" to "Quackery" Keep in touch with your experiences. Paul
  10. I am. Apparently they didn't sit in any 06+ IS's or RX's... The interior plastics are hard as a rock. The interior quality of the entry level Lexus' has dropped IMO... I'm also very surprised Porsche is ANYWHERE near the top of this list. But also notable is the fact that Scion is way at the bottom. Since this survey is based on owner "complaints" i guess it makes sense though... From what i've seen, Scion "drivers" are generally the younger type who beat the crap out of them, and their "owners" are the responsible parents who are the type to make complaints when they break down from being abused! Porsche owners on the other hand... baby their cars. Be fair CD, they said that Lexus had "regained" it's number one status this year after having been bumped out by Porsche, and the survey didn't cover 2006 models. As far as the 06' models quality, you carry a grudge a long time!!! LOL
  11. J.D. Power just announced list of auto quality by the numbers. Lexus was rated number one. Who's suprised by that?? http://autos.aol.com/article/new-car-quality-declines/?icid=main%7Chtmlws-main-w%7Cdl7%7Csec1_lnk3%7C216861
  12. What do you mean by "blown". Is the cone torn, or is the foam/fabric around the cone deteriorated. If so you may be able to repair it for a fraction of the cost,That is if your handy and like do it your self projects. A search of this board will find several post with photos on how to do this. If the voice coil is shot, replace the speaker. Just a thought IF your mechanically inclined.
  13. Hey K.C. In addition to the Instrument Panel dimming wheel, there is a control for brightness and contrast of the Nav. screen. Just touch Display then follow the touch screen prompts. Not sure this will solve the problem but might help pin down a diagnosis. Paul
  14. In our city they post the location of the portable speed camera every day on the TV news and radio so drivers know where it is going to be located. Even though the whole idea of speed cameras is repugnant to many, this seems like a pretty fair deal for a city to try. Does your city do this? What is your opinion about this arrangement?
  15. Sounds exactly like the amp. You can contact "dcfish" On this board for a new one. In the future, the GX forum would be the best place to post a problem like this.
  16. Detailed look at new LFA Super Car. Definitely worth watching if you like speed. http://translogic.aolautos.com/2011/06/20/translogic-59-lexus-lfa/?icid=main%7Chtmlws-main-w%7Cdl7%7Csec1_lnk3%7C216651
  17. It's for geezer's like me. What do you recomend for those under 90?
  18. No, I never take up two spaces. Back in 1976 I bought a monthly parking pass to a multilevel parking garage in downtown Kansas City near a bank where I was a computer programmer. The spaces were not assigned and there were supposed to be enough parking spaces for all people who had monthly passes plus the limited number of passes sold daily. One day when I arrived for work late I found that there were no more parking spaces and a Datsun 240/260Z was straddling two spaces. That was my space! I won't go into detail about what "happened" to that Datsun but my guess is that the Datsun owner's radio reception was likely poor on his way home. The key to defensive parking is to look for an especially large end space where no one can park on the right of me and to hug the right side of the space. 83.3% of all cars (I made that up) carry only a driver and the passenger door likely will not be opened when someone parks his car next (to the left) of mine. My second choice of parking spaces is a parallel parking space on the street at either front or the back of a block ... i.e. either no one parking in front of me or no one parking behind me. Again I hug the front or back of the space. Or I look for an exceptionally large parallel parking space where people might park in front and behind me. Damn that Smart Car that still squeezed in and shared my space one time. If I'm going to parallel park, I prefer to park where someone can park only behind me since I know I'm going to get my rear bumper cover replaced or repainted on a regular basis due to people slamming into the rear bumper while they are playing with their electronic gadgets. If all else fails and I can't find my perfect parking space, I'll park whatever distance away from my destination that it takes to minimize the risk of dings. I rarely have a problem finding a perfect or nearly perfect space, it rarely takes more than an extra minute or three and I sometimes get an exercise bonus if I have to park far away from my destination. My wife has gotten used to me dropping her off in front of restaurants and stores and then zooming off to find an acceptable parking space. And per LEXIRX330's method, if we are going somewhere where I know there will be no defensive parking spaces, we TAKE THE WIFE'S CAR! She parks her car using the "Braille method" and she isn't going to notice anther scratch or dozen. I love it!! You always crack me up. LOL!! Do you suppose that guy in the Datsun ever figured out his reception problem? I have been very lucky, knock on wood; It's been ten months since I took delivery and no dings so far. I refuse to park within half a block of those cart returns in parking lots, and I never park next to a truck or SUV where the doors are high enough to take out your side mirrors. When it comes to parking I use the old saying from the X-Files, Trust No One!
  19. You are not missing anything. My 2010 ES is the same way. I went back just now and poured over the Navigation owners manual to see if I had missed any thing, but even the illustrations in the manual show the screens reading "No Data". I plan on calling Lexus customer support to see if I can get some answers.
  20. Say your not one who takes up two spaces to protect their doors from dings? LOL....give me some "Defensive Parking" pointers. Paul
  21. I bet you could actually accomplish warp 1 with that beauty!
  22. Has anyone seen one of these television ads yet? I wonder if some of the images are of the 2012 ES edition. What do you think of these "story" ads? Do they work or are they too over the top? Paul
  23. Editor is appreciative yet truthfull? http://www.autoblog.com/2011/06/17/ad-spotting-lexus-declares-itself-future-proof/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+weblogsinc%2Fautoblog+%28Autoblog%29
  24. My advice IS from a dealer! Good for you. That is what I mean. The forum has the ability to bring together a critical mass of resources from an almost infinite number of people. (yeah, infinite might be a stretch). And it's given gratis. p.s. What address is death waiting at? It will save me some time.
  25. This is the beauty of the LOC. You just got probably $2,000 worth of advice that would have other wise had to come from a dealer. These guys are great! Paul
