  1. No, probably just retarded... Retardation is a birth brain disorder that cannot be corrected by surgery, medication, or any other form of medical/neurological intervention. Although your use of the word in this instance is an attempt to add humor, it only perpetuates a cruel stereotype of those without over those with.
  2. Have you tried a dealer parts department?
  3. I would say Welcome to the LOC, but from your post it sounds like your unhappy about something either we did or did not do. Care to fill me us in? Paul
  4. Your going to be dissapointed...., I'm too darn tired to care at the moment, so I said "both". I agree with some,(fixing our vexing social problems for example) and disagree with others, (resigning from NATO as an example). If this continues on for a while and I get some sleep, I may get swept up in another one of our discussions "du'jour"...LOL!!
  5. LOL knew you would ;) What? umm wait...so do you agree or not? LOL! Either way is fine. Both......
  6. Not only here we go, but no I won't! LOL!

    Hi All!

Looks like a "..flash mob" of new LOC members. LOL... Welcome to each of you. Post some pics. Paul
  8. Received this How-To video today showing step by step instructions on how to polish and restore those cloudy/foggy headlight lens. Thought I'd post for those of you "diy'ers" and for those doing future searches on the subject. It does come up often.
  9. We've talked about this "little ray of blue sunshine" before, but unlike yours Steve, mine is just too dim to be of any practical value. You have me thinking about it again, so I think I will drop by the dealer in the next week or two and have them look at the output. I've always been into interiors and interior lighting. Odd, but I have never found a car, regardless of make or price point, that had the exact configuration of lighting, at night, that I was totally happy with. Maybe someday I could afford to hire Cduluk to do a custom job on my ES. Paul
  10. Hi, Contact "dcfish" on the forum. He is the approved vendor for all things Lexus Nav and audio. He has a wide inventory and knowledge.
  11. A couple of suggestions.....Did the technicians at the garage give you the code numbers that they read out of the cars computer. The experts on the forum would find those helpful in determining the engine problem. Secondly, Did the same technicians tell you you might need a head gasket AFTER they put in the new plugs, or was that someone else?
  12. Fifteen CUVs, including the RX350, are listed showing their percent of sales numbers plus or minus based on August 2010, to August 2011 sales information. The RX350 shows a 20% decline! Does this mean its time for a new RX?? http://autos.aol.com/photos/best-selling-cuvs/?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl11%7Csec1_lnk3%7C94629
  13. Or try Sylvania Xtravision which are half the price, last longer and some think put out a better light pattern. We've used Xtravision bulbs in our Camry headlights for many years. The light from Xtravisions is definitely whiter than from regular halogen bulbs and they don't have a blue coating that cuts down light output. Here is a dicussion on another forum about Silverstar vs. Xtravision: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?192711-Sylvania-Silverstars-or-Xtra-vision-for-car-lights Regular halogen bulbs are preferable in fog lights since yellowish light cuts through rain, fog and especially blowing snow better. Hi again Jim! I read the discussion on the other forum and found it very educational. Once again, I am amazed at the depth of your research and resources on all your post. You remind me of the TV guy, Mr. Wizard from when I was a kid. Your humbled surf, Gort
  14. Are you going to turn it in to your insurance? If so, they will probably ask you to get some bids and let you decide where you want to have the work done. If your doing it on your dime, ask people you know who have had repairs and get referrals from them. Usually don't have a lot of luck getting specific referrals for garages in a specific city on the forum.
  15. Have you checked the fuse for the door lock system? It sounds as though all of the possible ways to lock/unlock the doors are without power at the same time, wich would lead me to want to start with the fuse.
  16. Glad your here and welcome to the LOC! Sounds like you found a "diamond in the ruff?" for sure. It also sounds like you don't run out of things to do very often.LOL

    92 Es300

Welcome to the LOC. I don't know the answer to your problem, but you might get more responses by posting this thread in the ES300 forum as well. Paul
  18. perhaps, but I suspect the difference would be marginal, and would not even be noticed in normal driving, even with fast accelerations I have tried all the different octanes, and without doing a full out 0-60, but with significant acceleration, I could not feel the difference Will we ever leave here and get back to Kansas??
  19. Way cool!! Sounds like a great deal and a great decision. Wish you would buy one for me now that winter is over the horizon. LOL
  20. IMO, turbo is great for smaller engines, to get that extra "umph". The main draw back tho, is what is known as Turbo Lag, it will not give immediate boost from engine idle, also your turbo cannot continuously out put, it needs to cool/regen. Hence the invention of the turbo cooler. Many cars now have them built in, but back in the days they were an add on, and pretty much a must if you were doing any kind of performance driving. One may not really notice turbolag as much if its just daily green light rocketing and then normal diving after that. As far a Superchargers go, now if you have some decent HP and you just want it to ROAR, well this is your option, but lets just say your car will no longer be a fuel effecient commuter :-0 Main difference between the two is a supercharger is a big pump that is driven by belts or gears from the engine and can be felt almost instantly, whereas a turbocharger is a pump driven by a turbine driven by the exhaust gases of the engine. Due to the nature of a turbo charger, it will not give immediate boost from engine idle. It takes time to act. A turbo is the easier to fit, if one is retorfitting it. Great information.

    Newbie Here!

    Sounds like a good value.
  22. First, nothing takes the place of a good, professional, wax and machine buffing. Do not do this yourself. Please take it to a professional detailer. Secondly, for an idea that is very cool, go to the IS250 forum and look at the posting under "cf wrap"- tx1911fan. It's an example of using carbon fiber wrap.
  23. Not an expert, but had a super charger on a a Buick 2000 Regal, and shocking as this seems, it would get up and move when that boost kicked in. MPG was awful. One of my buddies has a Buick Grand National, super charged and burning alcohol. It damn near threw me out the door window when he accelerated from a dead stop. Glad I had my seat belt on. The boost offered in that configuration is awesome. I've never driven a turbo but hope to someday.
