  1. Hi Michelle. Welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. I have leased several cars over the years, but have not had a lease in the last few years. However, I don't think some of the fundementals of the contracts have changed. For example, paying for advertising. Never heard of that, and frankly, that's the stupidest thing I ever heard a dealer try to pull off on somebody. Disposition fee: Have know idea what there disposition is, but you shouldn't be paying for it. The other two are standard and you won't get out of them. As for a standard amount, this will vary wildly from dealer to dealer and from region to region. Good luck. Paul
  2. Hi Ragtop Girl. First, Let me apologize to you for not getting the help you should have from your dealer. The answer was so standard and happens every time they have to dissconect the battery, that there is no reason any one of them could not have helped you. Another resource available to you is the search feature here on the site. I did a quick search on "seat - lost- memory," and came up with a zillion refferences. A further refinement might have gotten us the specific answer. As you know, when the battery is disconnected ( this really is a rare need) you have to re-enter your radio presets and any other "memory" settingds. The ECU in the engine and transmission relearn their proper settings automatically. Thanks for joining the LOC. Paul
  3. I'm going to jump in before Lenore replies, and you two have at it..... In his "State of the Union " adress, Obama listed initative after intative and asked the congress to pass legislation to put in to ACTION those inisative/policies. Remember when you speak of policies, the President has very limited authority to do anything on his own withouth the "Advise and Consent" of the Congress. The President can layout a frame work for foriegn policy for example, but can make no treaties without congress's approval. The various departments of the federal government can make and implement policy within there realm of interest, but again congress can pass legislation to override that. Throught out Obama's first term, the Republican leaders in the house have stated publicaly that there only job was to see that Obama was not re-elected. Their actions stalling and blocking at every turn any of Obama's plans have been proof of that. Don't blame everything on the President. I agree this time with Lenore....(the earth shakes) Get rid of the god da.. people in congrees and start over with real people. Not lobbyist.
  4. Hi Tyler and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. Your right, the ML system is a completly matched system with speakers, amps, crossovers, etc. all calibrated for the other. However, your complaint is not uncommon re; not enough bottom with more contempory music. You can add a seperate amp and sub in your trunk using the feed off of the OEM sub under the rear deck, behind the back seat. This way you don't have to worry about cutting into the rest of the speaker network. If your VERY knowledgeable about car audio go ahead, but if not, i would suggest you have a qualified car audio shop do the instalation. Enjoy the sound. Paul
  5. The Volvo dosen't ding, it just shows a cute little snow flake next to the outside temp at 35'. :)
  6. From my chair, the problem isn't Newt....or Romney for that fact. It's the fact that the whole slate of candidates is so bad that the Republicans are wanting to say "none of the above", but they have no other choice. Looking over the last two or three presidential elections I can not recall a time when the Republicans have given themselves such a weak set of choices. None of them can compare to a John McCain for example. Santorum won Iowa by getting on his knees and promissing the evangelicals a Bible in every school desk. Romney is a rich guy with nothing more than a shoe shine and a smile. He looks pretty, but when you do the scratch and sniff test there's nothing underthe surface but the smell of a Swiss bank vault. Newt has more enemies than friends. If elected the Pentagon would probably call up Seal team 6 for a little late night patrol. I'm going to hang with Obama. I am well aware that congress, even with an aprovall rating somewhere around 20%, will not have the brains to do something to improve it,( like working together with the other side,) will take no action on any Of Obama's ideas for jobs. This will be the Republicans attempt to make the Democrats look bad and thereby, hopefully lose the election. I hate both parties. They are destroying our government and leading us to a country that only the wealthy will control. If you don't think so, go back three years and read about Goldman-Sachs. Vote early, Vote often
  7. Hi Ed and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. Looks like you found a very nice ride indeed; a 2008 with 25k on it?....that's pretty nice. Feel free to continue to post in the future and show us some pics of your new baby! Paul
  8. It certainly looks comfortable. How sensitive is the air suspension and how quickly does it react to the road vibrations? Also what DMV leagal concerns do you think there would be. It's certainly a source of frustration for you I'm sure. Paul
  9. Hi Bob and welcome to your Lexus Owners Club. Your Matador Red RX with the Black interior sounds like a killer combination. It is customary for members with new Lexus to post pics of their new babys. So take some pics and post them when you can. lol Post your questions or helpful information anytime. Paul
  10. Hi Stephen and welcome to your Lexus Owners Club. We are glad you joined the club.. I don't have the answer to your problem, but others will chime in here and hopefully together, can track down the problem.....wondering, do you have a fuse panel in the engine compartment? Paul
  11. Hi Alan and welcome to your Lexus Owners Club. Thank you for your question. Looks like you've already gotten an excellent response. I'm going to move your post to the ES300 forum for more discussion. We'll see you there. Paul
  12. I'm glad you finally got everything working. But, I have to tell you, we might have been able to save you some grief and money had you told us from the begining all of the facts and details such as you were dealing with an ML system. With each thread you dribbled out another piece of the puzzle instead of summeizing it all at once so we could hopefully give you a overall solution. Best of luck, Paul
  13. That is one good look'in 4 Runner. Looks like you only drove it on Sundays! I would think at that price, even with the miles, and being so clean it should move right away. I have no idea what you paid for the Toyota new, but I wonder how the depreciation on the Volvo wil compare with your experience with the Toyota. We purchased my wife's 07', S80 as a CPO with 59,000 on it in late 2009 for $24. It now has 69,000 on it and is worth about $18,500. The new price was about $46,000. I'm not to impressed with their ability to hold value. But, I still like the car and she loves it. She feels safe in it. To me, that's what counts.
  14. What about the Nav voice fading in and out? Did the new speaker fix that problem? Just out of curiosity, if the original door speaker was a coaxial, why didn't you replace it with another coax, there by eliminating the need to replace the one you have in there now. Also, your going to put in a ML speaker. Is this an ML system in your car? Lot of questions I know. Paul
  15. Hi MBIZ, The seat belt retractor mechanism is probably shot. You can buy a replacement from your dealer or a Toyota dealer. If your a do-it-your selfer you should be able to do the repair your self. If not, have your dealer or a qualified independant mechanic do the repair. This is not a repair you want to skimp on. DO NOT drive without a working seat belt. Paul
  16. Hey TGS, Welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. We look forward to your contributions. Paul
  17. Hi Bob, To make changes to your profile and to add a photo, just click on your name at the top, right side of the page and then, click on Profile. When your profile comes up, you will see "edit profile" at the far right side of the page. Click and that will show you where you can make all of your changes. Paul
  18. The outside rearview mirrors on my ES350 are also "heated" as are most outside Lexus mirrors. The term heated might conjure up a nice toasty surface, but it is just enough to brinng the mirror up to a little above freezing. It dosen't take much. I have always used a stick-on curved surface mirror attached to my outside mirror to eliminate the blind spot. The heated surface is not too warm and the little mirror works great. The best blind spot mirror I have ever seen is Ford's new design on their Ford Fusion. They use a small parabolic mirror surface in the upper left hand corner of the driver's outside rearview mirror. You can see the car right next to you all the time in that mirror, while seeing all the other traffiic in the rest of the mirror, regardless of where you look. It is really cool.
  19. Hi Evan, and welcome to your LOC. You have to start by removing the side panels along the long portion of the console, where the shift lever and drink holders are. That gives you access to the panels below the head unit and around the ashtray, etc. I think there is , or used to be, a couple of tutorials in the "search" data base on how to take the console and upper trim apart, as well as what tools to use. I would suggest you do a search and see if you can find some of those pictorial step - by - step instructions. Let us know how things work out. Paul
  20. Hey Dave. .welcome to the LOC. So far ino one has come up with an answer for you but hang in there and hopefully someone might have some experience with chains on a RX. Glad to have you post. Paul
  21. Hi Tom, and welcome to your Lexus Owners Club. By aftermatket I think you mean, can a Lexus backup sensor be added to a previous model that was not equiped with the sensors. I THINK, the answer is no, but I am not 100% sure. If it can be retrofited the cost would be very high. In the new models the senors operate within the navigation package. When you backup the sensors not only beep, but an outline of the car comes on the screen and shows you which corner of the car is too close and exactly how close you are. For a definite answer, just call you Lexus dealer. Paul
  22. Hi Rob, and welcome as well to your Lexus Club. In the future, when yiur ready for repairs, we'll be happy to give you help and advice, as well as referalls to our approved parts vendor. Paul
