  1. Jim, I know you come through here on a regular basis, would you change my oil for that price while your here?....and I'll even throw in Iowa Chops for the grill! Paul
  2. Check out the previous post where a guy on You Tube tries to recreate the Famous LS400 wine/champagne glass commercial. The guy accuses Lexus of gluing he glasses together. Lexus heard about the video and ....well, just watch! http://www.autoblog.com/2011/03/20/video-lexus-responds-with-its-own-champagne-glass-re-creation/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+weblogsinc%2Fautoblog+%28Autoblog%29 Paul
  3. The ES holds 6 quarts of oil. Mobil 1 synthetic is like $7.25 a quart at the cheapest, if you do the math thats $43.50 just for the oil, not including the filter, disposing of the old oil...at the end of the day we're talking about them changing oil for no profit whatsoever. This sounds like a situation where the salesman, who has nothing to do with service by the way and probably knows less about what the service at a Lexus dealer costs than we do, talking without actually knowing what he's talking about. I would be *shocked* if the Lexus dealer would change the oil with synthetic for $55. You should call the service department and ask them. agree, 0% chance lexus, or a jiffy-lube type place would do it for $55 BUT...a local service station might do it for good will hoping to get future business...if i owned a service shop that is exactly what i would do The difference, is using the term "future business". When a Grocery store advertises Pepsi;a 6 pack for .99 cents, it is a "Loss Leader". They plan on loosing money just to get you in to the store. Once your there you will probably pick up a bag of chips or pop corn, milk, etc. Hey you didn't even spend a dollar on the soda, so you can buy something extra!. But this is present business. Not future business. Future business is what funeral homes are masters of. IMAGE! Peaceful. Rock Steady. Friendly, not gushing. Sincere. They build an Image that guarantees referrals and future business. Auto garages don't do well with Loss Leaders. They may low ball an oil change, but usually only discount the oil, not the filter. Or make you pay extra for a premium grade of oil. Yes, they will also try an "UP" sell you on tires, mufflers, brake pads, just any consumable. In my experience, Lexus builds future business by treating each customer as a Guest and building trust and respect through training. Let us know what you find out.
  4. Mainly, that the wind doesn't blow all the time!
  5. "dcfish" is our resident authorized vendor for Navigation and Audio parts. Welcome to the club! Paul
  6. Don't know if this guy is a bubble off or not. I hope the broken glass didn't chip the paint! http://www.autoblog.com/2011/03/18/video-ls-460-owner-tries-to-recreate-seminal-lexus-champagne-g/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+weblogsinc%2Fautoblog+%28Autoblog%29
  7. I've been paying about $75. This topic comes up all the time, and based on what others have said in the past, you are getting a real low, low, price. Not saying it's too good to be true, but you might want to get the price verified when your introduced to the Service Adviser. Paul
  8. Yes....It took a long time, but he did do the right thing. Also, he refused to use ground forces. Bush would have invaded with a "Mission Accomplished" banner. (Just trying to stir up a conversation) http://www.aolnews.com/2011/03/18/obama-to-gadhafi-stop-or-face-military-action/
  9. You and I know from our careers that no product can have every feature or every benefit. Lexus could stand an on their head and spit nickels but someone else would always have one more feature for at least on more moment. I don't see a future with Lexus being nubbier 2 to Buick. I've owned a Buick. Been there, done that. (We all make mistakes). Paul
  10. I would also suggest contacting "dcfish" on the forum. He is authorized for Lexus audio and Navigation components, and can provide expert advice. Include the year of your 300. Paul
  11. FYI; My Lexus salesperson told me today that he has lost two RX350 sales this month to the ENCLAVE. The only reason was the 3rd seat in the Buick. The buyers were all previous Lexus owners, but just wanted more room at that price point. Paul
  12. At 127 your WAY above average.
  13. But Paul...then you will have the Liberals saying that those wind turbines kill birds! :cries: :) I try to stay out of politics on here...but WOW...you are one of the first people that I have seen latley to admit they are a Democrat! :) By saying "you try to stay out of politics on here", you raised your IQ in my opinion by 50 points at least!
  14. You know from the wording their either English or Aussie. Whilst? Come On!! I vote not real.
  15. For a Republican, you sure sound like one of us Democrats.LOL!! ( Were begining to use a lot of wind energy in northern Iowa, and there is a factory that builds turbine blades about sixty miles east of my city.)
  16. Yes, I'm a little slow. Am I looking at just a before and after shot, or am I supposed to be seeing him do something? Either way it looks good. Paul
  17. My dealer told me this morning that they were on a conference call with other dealers and Lexus re: availability of inventory. Supposedly, Lexus will be only two weeks behind in their shipments of new cars, and three container ships left Japan yesterday for the U.S. loaded with new inventory. Again, supposedly, Lexus will have at least four months supply of inventory in the states.
  18. That was my guess as well. Would you come back and let us know if that solved the problem? Paul
  19. After all these years, and especially Watergate, you would think that we would have learned that no matter what you see them say on television, (yes, I include Obama), or what they do or sign, its what is said or done when only a few are in the room or on a secured line, that actually determines our measly lives. There are a few good old days, but WE made them what they were. Others helped, but we each shape our own future. (Man, call the paranoid police). Sorry people. Paul
  20. The past always seems better.
  21. First, welcome to the club! Second, I am not an expert, but I would like to clarify just exactly what your trying to accomplish. You say your low beams are HID. Is that what you want them to be? I assume your high beams are halogen. Are you wanting to buy a kit to convert them to HID? Also, remember your highs run on 6 volts for the running lights, and 12 volts for high beams. Hopefully someone else will come on here and clarify if an HID would even work in that circumstance. Paul
  22. 6:25 Central Time; No-Fly Zone Approved. http://www.aolnews.com/2011/03/17/un-approves-no-fly-zone-over-libya/
  23. Clinton today on no-fly zone: http://www.aolnews.com/2011/03/17/hillary-clinton-in-tunisia-need-plan-for-economic-development/
  24. Sad article if all true. Yep, it is a SNAFU. But, remember Bush, had Rumsfeld(spelling?) and Snowcroft. Obama is letting the UN call the shots, and He can't get his arms around the congress. Still, it sounds like Bush and the first half of Clinton's term when they were trying to impeach Clinton. I want us to back the Libyan rebels. I DON'T want to get mired down in another never ending liberation/police action. I hope Obama can Pull it out, and if they run Palin, Huckabee, or Gingrich, he'll be back in for sure. Those guys plus Barbour, Romney, and Bachman are all over our state now, campaigning for President in our first in the nation caucuses. Paul
  25. Big advantage. The parking assist, (backup & forward sensors) will sound at intervals from approx. 1.4ft. to 2.0ft. These sensors are excellent when you can not see behind or in front of you such as pulling into a parking place. The rear view camera lets you SEE a wide angle view of the area behind the car such as children, toys, other cars, post in parking lots, etc. However the view is wide enough that it distorts the actual distance the car is from objects on the screen. Thats where the parking sensors can protect you from hitting something before you get to close. The combination works very well together.
