  1. Paul that's a shame...did you talk to your agent and see if he could ask for any kind of exception? That was part of the problem. We had no agent. All of our business was done over the phone with Allied/Nationwide for the last three or four years. We have now switched to American Family so that we could not only have a good rate, but that one on one relationship with an agent, not some voice in a call center. My job now is to be a more careful driver and quit doing that 150mph that guy talked about in a previous article!!
  2. Thank you LEXIR for the excellent info. Unfortunately I learned some of it just within the last few weeks. After 26 years with the same company, and with both our homeowners and auto insurance with them, they canceled our auto policy for too many accidents within a one year period. My wife had one and I had two. In retrospect, had I known about the accident scoring thing, I wouldn't even have turned one in as it was under $2,000 and only my car was damaged. Live and learn. Again, nice article! Paul
  3. I don't know the range of ages represented on this particular topic, and I don't possess the knowledge or experience with the other manufacturers products to voice a worthwhile opinion. But, I am chuckling at myself and the rest of us as the discussion goes on, how no matter when you were born, or what part of the country you live in, or what car you drive, we always seem to feel that some how things were better in the past. Kids had more respect. They didn't have tattoos all over them. Our parents worked harder. I WORKED harder getting started. People cared about quality, and with each decade some car quality has been getting worse. Right or wrong? Perception is reality. I keep saying this and I apologize for being repetitive. But regardless of whether or not the quality is better, than it used to be, if you care enough about your Lexus to be on this board, then let Lexus know your opinion. Yes, the most effective way is to vote with your check book, but that doesn't happen often enough. E-mail or call Lexus and let them know what is on your mind. Complaining without action is just that, Complaining. Paul
  4. Knowledge is a beautiful thing. It beats conspiracy theories any day.
  5. I know this is an old thread, but sense there was a current post I thought I would answer this previous question. Semi aniline leather describes a process of dyeing leather, not the quality or suppleness of the leather. The aniline dyeing method uses a translucent dye that allows the natural lines and grains of the hide to show through without leaving a coating on the surface of the leather. If memory serves me, all Lexus models use semi aniline leather. The LS460 may use a higher quality of leather hide that is softer or more supple, I don't know. Paul
  6. If they are a "must have" you might have go aftermarket. Word of caution. There are diffrent quality levels when it comes to chrome plating. Just saying it's the old adage: " If it sounds to good to be true.........blah, blah." Paul
  7. This man thinks it is past the time to raise the speed limits. He says that 150mph is realistic and should be phased in over the next few years. He also believes the German cars are superior because they are made to run at these higher speeds. What do you think? Is it time to raise the speed limits?? http://www.autoblog.com/2011/04/11/opinion-time-to-raise-the-speed-limit-how-does-150-mph-sound/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+weblogsinc%2Fautoblog+%28Autoblog%29
  8. I just hung up from speaking with Lexus customer satisfaction for about 15 minutes. This, following a live chat with Lexus customer knowledge center. Their response is: 1. They have not had any reports on any models, for any years, regarding speedometers reading too fast or too slow. Such a finding would result in a recall. 2. I explained the warranty question raised on this forum and they suggested someone volunteer to report their car with the problem so it can be evaluated and tested for the defect. I would urge anyone with this problem to take them up on their request and see if you can find an answer to what seems to be a hot topic and a question of Lexus honesty. Call 800-255-3987....option 3.
  9. Hello and welcome to the LOC! Hope you enjoy it. Eureka Springs is great. My parents retired from Iowa to Rogers, AR. many years ago, and when we visited my wife and I would often go to Eureka Springs as a side trip. Very historic and beautiful. Your lucky! Paul
  10. Very cool!! Thanks for the announcement and mouth watering information. I'd like to order one, but I misplaced my check book.LOL Paul
  11. Beige leather turned blueish because driver was sitting on it with brand new jeans. The rear seat can be folded, but is poorly built as I was able to bend it at the top corners. Only the Equus get the special treatment. Hyundai built a wonderful car. Too bad Hyundai didn't follow the example of Toyota and built the proper support for a car that is supposed to be upscale. Unfortunately, the dye transfer from jeans and other heavily dyed fabrics is also a problem with Lexus. Both my 05' ES and my 10" ES have shown a proclivity for this problem. The detailer's are all aware of it and say it is an issue for many manufacturer's leather seats. Sometimes it can be cleaned off if the stain is worked frequently to keep the dye from building up over time. Paul
  12. In addition guys, have you looked at the face of your speedometer lately?..its not even segmented like an accurate instrument. The speeds are in 5 mph increments, and the km aren't much better. There aren't even any designations for the most popular speed limits. If you can tell PRECISELY & UNEQUIVOCALLY that the speedometer face is as accurate as a laboratory test instrument, then you'd have an argument. If you truly think their out to cheat you out of your full warranty, write Lexus and tell them. Don't just whine about it. Show them your "proof".
  13. What a great trip!! I envy you. As you know, I have a Garmin as well as the Nav in my 2010 ES. Did you have to purchase a download for the Garmin of European countries or individual countries? Paul
  14. Very interesting! I am impressed with the depth of your knowledge. I know from your previous "Mods" you've accomplished some amazing things, and I thank you for sharing this information. It should give the gentleman above pause before he jumps in to try and change all of his lights. Again, thanks for sharing. Paul
  15. ok, conspiracy theory is on must be a known industry gimmick to save money on warranty work i have to check mine does the nav show mph? don't remember seeing that, but i don't use it much thanks steve No it doesn't. You need a Garmin or other after market GPS for that. You do love your Garmin don't you. LOL!!
  16. ok, conspiracy theory is on must be a known industry gimmick to save money on warranty work i have to check mine does the nav show mph? don't remember seeing that, but i don't use it much thanks steve Time to que the black helcopters, clicking sounds when you pick up the telephone, and a black box stuck underneath your car. Paul
  17. This person has an interesting project? ....but out of curiosity, what type of base do most of the interior lamps use these days. It's been years, literally, since I've had to change and automotive bulb. Are they screw base, spade, twist lock, etc.? Thanks cduluk! Paul
  18. Which do you use, premium or regular? If premium, do you think it's worth the additional cost?
  19. Your reasoning begs the question that if something is no good, why does it become popular? Is Madison Ave. advertising that good, that it can fool all of the people all of the time? I give my fellow consumers a little credit for being smarter than you do. No offense.
  20. Looks like Texas is way ahead of the game!!!!LOL http://www.autoblog.com/2011/04/07/texas-house-approves-nations-fastest-speed-limit-at-85-mph/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+weblogsinc%2Fautoblog+%28Autoblog%29 So much for gas mileage. Paul
  21. If your ??? Is about the system it is for client files, forms, log notes, real time rating and many other agency system tools. Trust me I think it should do more to but it is almost impossible not to use something like this. There are cheaper systems but that's just it they are cheaper. I wish it was that easy. I wish everyone worked off of commission but since someone has to do the service work that's just not possible. I guess to give you some background. I own an insurance agency (me and the bank :) ) I have some producers that are paid commission but I also have csrs that handle the service work and they are paid hourly. I have two offices and obviously I can't be at both places at the same time. So everyone is responsible to fill out their own time cards. Used to be ok when there were only 3 people but now it is just too much and I always like to inspect what I expect if you know what I mean. There are a couple of times that I think there is a discrepancy but I have no proof. So that needs to change. I know exactly what you mean. It is the age old dilema of managing people. Some days you wish you could go back to just being a one person office. Other days it's how much carrot and how much stick. I hope you find a good solution.
  22. Before you take your baby to the nearest quick lube, you better be armed with some good advice and a good dose of skepticism. http://autos.aol.com/article/quick-lube-unneeded-services/ Paul
  23. That is really interesting. Do you use it, and if so, do you like it?...any difference in mpg? (cool photo of Bogart) Anyone else out there?
