WOW,just got weapon r intake on my lexus es300 1996. best buy ive ever bought in a long time. First of the sound ALONE is amazing and extremely deep,got props from EVERYONE just for the sound.With the just the sound alone i wouldnt give up this intake for the world(jjust liek bbsal said i woudl say,lol) And in contrary to what skperformance said. I DEFINATLY got a huge performance gain. like i gunned it down a street from one ponit to another b4 i installed,then i did it after and like it felt much quicker,but to all those that say that can just be the adrenaline of getting something new,thats not true b\c i also ended with higher speed,on the exact same street exact same pont to poinnt.

oh and also like the area where air flowed into the box is like a 4 inch by 3 plastic pipe and it just happens that like my intake is like couple inches from that ole so a lil colder air goes to it,obviously not as cold as if a cold air intake,but jsut as cold as the air boox was getting.

I DEFINATLY SUGGEST THIS TO ANYONE THAT WANTS TO ADD A PERFORMANCE UPGRADE TO HIS CAR.

from around 1000 to 4000 rpm u dont feel too much a difference but then from like 4000 to 6500 or somewhere around there u feel the torque like just rising much faster then when it was stock. Oh and my mpg got better for sure b\c i got a quarter tank of gas b4 intake and then when i put it on i was gunning it ALOT and driving alot and right now im at one eight a tank i know usually with that much i end up with maybe like just above empty line(but this im not too sure about i think its better mpg from estamting,but im not positive about this liek i am about the performance upgrade)

I do have one question thouhyg,now that i have this,do i have to fill upwith liek 93 or 91,b\c my dad always fills up withj 87. is that still fine?

note: to anyone that thinks im not telling the truth ,go ahead and think that,but really,why would i lie?!?! its not liek by writing on these forums that my car got faster would actually make it faster.

yes i did,it wasnt too bad though. but like my friend has a modified eclipse and hes the one who helped me put it on and he said he thinks i got atleast 10 horses from that.so i would guess thats in combination of the fact that its a new filter plus that its a intake.

i just cant get over the sound though B) so deep and so clean.

Just as a future reference for when i get it dynod,prabably summer, does anyone know what the lexus comes with stock WHEEL horsepower. im guessing like 170 or 160 its around one of those. and would torque stay the same on a dyno? or is there the same kind o fdifference liek wheel torque or something.

i think it about 188hp to the wheels

You CAN put anything in there.... Rather 91 would be highly recommended.

no its 188 at the crank,im guessing its somewher around 160 a the wheels.

umm well im pretty sure they do make one for the is300,but if i was u i would just get a cold air intake b\c alot of companies make cold air intakes for the is300

see now wasnt my adivce good??i told you that you would like it! ;)

i feel the exact same performance increase around 4500rpms.it just feels like it kicks you back in your seat way more then the stock but thats just me.i also have the cold air box and the ram kit so mine is running outside the engine bay for true cold air.save up a bit more and get that ram kit and then feel the difference because that makes it even more better and really just like a cold air intake.

also my freind was at atco raceway (a raceway near my house) and he seen a ford escort gt running 7s and guess what intake he had?yep thats right weapon-r and also a ton of other weapon-r stuff and my freind stopped by my house just to tell me about it because he knew i had a weapon-r intake.i was suprised to hear that the escort had all weapon-r stuff in it because theres tons of other brands to chose from for a ford!i will try to find the pics of that car for you because it even has a weapon-r tint across his front windsheild.lol im not saying weapon-r is the best because its not but there not as bad as people think they are.

hey guys... but yeah lol i wonder... to those of y`all with the weapon r intake... how much did y`all pay for it? i've been thinking about it b/c the airbox is annoying as crap to clean... lol. thinkin bout getting one... thanks for the info guys.

If anyone else decides this might be fun !

PLEASE go change your oil and air filter. Then go get a dyno done for the car with no intake other than stock. Measuring the engine wit the hood down not up.

Then add the intake and redo the dyno again.

Please some one show me how this short arm intake defies all prinicpals of physics physically not mentally.

its not defying anything. It just puts out more horses(however many it maybe) b\c its common sense. You said the air hole in the car is like blowing through a straw into a oven(something like that,coorect me if im wrong tohugh) well then the air box is sucking air through there and is limited to sucking that much air,the car has to work harder to suck in the same amount of air b\c its like trying to breathe through a straw.lets evn say the air going in there is colder b\c its not from the bay,sure the stock intake can hold more air now b\c its colder air but its like trying to breathe through your nose when u have a cold,to get the same amount of oxygen you have to use more energy and suck harder,then if you where to just breathe with your mouth.

I dont know if this is factual or true,but this is why i think it works.

i tried to explain what i meant as clear as possible,any confusions with what i wrote jsut reply:)

Like i said ,what you belive to be true and an actual fact are to different things entirely.

If by some means you have more expericane in this than me then by all mean say it is fact if not .......well then.

A dyno is a true FACT. I don;t care if you think yours has gotten better.

Number one being i don;t own the car so i don;t really care what happens. You put yourself out there by asking for opinions . So now you are getting them. There is real world expericane that is totally different from your expericance. Like i said before ,i don;t think you are lieing .It is just a matter of what you belive or want to .

Dyno's are for people looking for real results,not imaginary. A person who does go to a dyno is there for one reason "does this part suck or not".Am i getting any gains or wasting my time and money. If you put enough rice together there may be enough add ons to make a few more ponies.But there is no real world engineering from injen .They make junk,plain and simple. I used to work for Ractive years ago,They are the king of taiwan rice. Who do you think injen stole there product lines from as well as obx and repackaged and sold them.Now ractive has a tigher hold on there manufacturers in taiwan to sole produce only,which is still very hard. I work with local race teams and distibuters. I also don't deal with rice.I never sold a blue headlight bulb, the only ones i used to sell where silverstars. I belive in knowledge from R&D to be key not a pretend to be part.

I sell and install with JIC,tein espieler,skunk2 ,greddy,volk ,c west ,mugen ,arc , omp, project U, excedy and other high end names as well as complete custom work. Including building and custom making the first ever Cold air intake system for the 1mz-fe back in 97. I didn;t jsut throw some pipe together and sold it.This was a matter of 5 different protypes before i settled on one design of angles and lenghts.

Short arms are a waste, but go ahead and enjoy the noise you got.

But next time you want to discount advice given make sure you know what you are talking about.

what do u mean by rice,and where did injen come from.

If i lived by you then i would definatly buy ure cold air intake,but u said u only make it locally(on some other post)

At a side note though,have you dynoed your car b4 and ater with a short ram addon that shows its worse performance? im just wondering if you have.

i would dyno my car but cant for several reasons,first of is closest dyno that i kno of is summit racing which is an hour in a half awaay and only day i think i can get it dynoed is at some even thats going to be at like july.

second its 25 dollars for 2 runs. and i dont really want to spend 25 dollars just to see whos right,b\c i dont really think it matter.

Did you by any chance dyno your car when it was stock b\c i really want to know wat my car had at the wheels stock.( i kno every car is a lil different but atleast a close range)

stock form baseline runs are about 145-150 at the wheels which is simialar compared to other camry's also.but varies as much as 10-15 hp depending on the condition of the engien and tranny + wheels

Ingen is another company that make junk parts as it uses the same manuafacturer for parts in taiwan.

$25 isn;t much for 2 pulls ,i pay 40 canadian for 3 + 20 for a afr test as well.

but i am sure there is somewhere closer to you.

I met a good shop when i was down there for the rubber city clam jam a few years ago but can;t remember there name.

well, i used to be a ricer myself. intake doesn't give out that much horse power. i remember when i got a exhaust from stealin and a intake from them for my civic. they claim 35 HP gain total. yeah right. what do they know.

what feels faster doesn't mean 10HP gain. it's like when you change your oil or drive long highway miles, your car moves so much better. probably 2-3 HP gain thru efficiency.

intakes are usually good for it's noise---some likes them some don't. the important matter is that the owner likes it.

some of y`all also gotta put in the mental effect. your mind knows there's something new on the car... just feeling it could be a majority of your mind saying wow this feels faster b/c i spent money and added things to it. the dyno is the only true factual representation of any horsepower/torque gain from any bolt-on. many bolt-on's produce minimal gains that could only be seen by a dyno... if any gain at all (those no name intakes and exhausts). $25 really isn't that bad for 2 pulls on the dyno. i mean you'll know yourself for a true fact how much hp you're pullin at the wheels and see how the two compare... stock air box vs injen intake. i still wonder if the AEM V2 intake is gonna be made for the older gen ES300's :)

calm down, sk :) we don't want this getting outta hand :P

haven't been on here much lately... how've all y`all been anyhow?
