Hi Guys and Gals. I will be picking up my IS250 AWD on Tuesday and I am so excited.

I ended up going with Tungsten Pearl with grey interior. Navigation package, and the Luxury Package. Also included is Wood Trim Kit, Preferred Accessory Package, and XM Satelite Radio.

I can't tell you how excited I am and I am having problems sleeping at night in anticipation! :P

Can you guys give me any pointers on anything regarding your first days with your IS that would be helpfull to know?

I greatly appreciate it. I am not planning on doing to many mods on it, at least not for now. Probably just get the windows tinted, and hardwire a Escort Passport 8500 X50 Radar detector into the dash.

I will post some pics once the car arrives.

Thanks and hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Congratulations, I just got my IS 350 two weeks ago. The IS is such a sweet ride, you're going to love it. The dealer told me that you don't really need to baby the engine. The only thing was to vary the rpms if you're on the highway, so don't use the cruise control for a while. Other than that have fun driving it.

dont pop this shifter into S or you will end up having way too much fun during the break in period. by fun i mean revving over 4,500 rpm. set the rpm ring to illuminate at about 3-3500 for ur break in period.

Congrats on your new Lexus!! I can understand the anticipation cuz I felt the same when I picked up my IS250 a week ago. I put on 400km on the first two days of having it!!!!!!

Question to everyone:

How bad is it if we drive on the highway and dont vary the rpm when the car is brand new? What damage does it do? I drove about an hour on the highway but did NOT put it on cruise control.....I hope I didnt do any damage...

No harm done. Modern cars don't need to be broken in the way older cars did. Just drive normally.

Soon as you can, sit in the car with the owner's manual and go through all the controls and procedures so you know what they are and how to use them. It's surprising how many people will as questions about stuff that they would have learned just by doing that. The break-in process is in there too. You can't go wrong by doing what the manual tells you.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the great advice. I went over to the dealership today and they said my car will be in Monday. Woohoo!!! While I was there, I was looking around the property, and they had hidden an IS350 with the X package, man was it nice. It had it's normal sticker on with no reserve. It was only a few thousand more than what my car is. Man is it tempting to go buy that car. Definetelly a sweet looking vehicle. I asked my sales person about it and she kinda blew it off, saying that they do not have that vehicle. I think it's there first one, and they want to keep it in the lobby to show off. Oh well...........

I will defenitelly sit down with the manual (I read it's like 300 pages long) and take a good look at before I start asking questions. The RPM's suggestion is great. I don't want to do any damage or scar the car for the rest of it's life, ya know.

One more question though, do the HID lights work for both low beam and high beam?

Thanks,

Hey"LexusBoy",

I am very interested in getting the IS 250 AWD myself. The main reason is because of the AWD feature. I was wondering though, does it look just like the 350 when you have it loaded with leather, navigation..etc? If so, then the only difference would be the 100 hp more hp in the 350?

Be sure to post some pics when you get the car on monday! I hope you really enjoy the beautiful car :)

Best Regards,

Daniel

Thanks,

If you like power, go with the 350. I am not breaking in my car. During the test drive I thrashed the car, you have to push it during your test drive to really know. My salesman told me you really don't have to break the IS's in.

Salesmen will also tell you the moon is made of green cheese. It's advisable to follow the instructions in the owner's manual. It's hard to go wrong that way.

Yah, and when you come in because you have a bent valve, and they tell you that the only way you could have bent a valve was to take the RPM's too high for too long before the 2,500 (or whatever) mileage break-in was completed, so your warranty is void, and you say "but my salesman said that . . . . . . "

They will look at you like you had said, "gee, I didn't know she could get pregnant from just one time . . . . . "

Also breaking in will give you a better shot at a better MPG in the long run. ;)

Hey Guys,

Well I picked up my car on Monday and the last few days have been amazying. I don't think it's hit me yet and I'm still in utter Shock. The car is just amazying. From what I can tell so far, the only major difference between the 250 and the 350 is of course the power, but also the 18 inch wheels and the AWD seems to be a little higher, at least is shows in the wheel well. I havn't been able to take any pictures yet mainly due to the terrible weather we have had here in Oregon. I'm heading for the coast this weekend and I will be taking my camera with me. Hopefully, I'll have some sunshine during the weekend.

One thing that I found out was that the car I was supposed to get ended up not being it all. It was supposed to be shipped and the previos selections that I noted were not exact. The car I actually got had everything I mentioned above except for the XM Satalite package. Lexus told me that they don't install it at the port anymore and you have to add it later. In supstitution, I got the spoiler instead. I'm not a really big fan of the factory spoiler but oh well. Car came from Lexus of Seatle, and when I received it, it all ready had 176 miles on it.

I'm still having issues figuring out the Navigation system, and the voice recognition isn't exactly very acurate, especially when I tell it to call somone.

Luckily with the holiday, I'll have more time to play with it, and driving to the coast this weekend will be a fun road trip, even though it's only an hour in a half away.

I will post some updates as soon I can.

Thanks again for everyone for their advice.

Have a great Thanksgiving and I will chat with you soon.

Why so many miles on it? was it used as a demo in seattle? was the sticker sealed on the window orignal or did it have scotch tape around the border? i'm asking because my dealer has to "search for a car, and i don't want one from someplace else that was test driven. when i got my acura, it had 9 miles on it.

Congrats.

When you get back, have a look around the forum. Most of your nav answers are probably in some of our threads. I think you can adjust the mic sensitivity on the voice rec part.

Well, things happened so fast. I don't even remember the sticker being on the window. The way that it was explained to me is that the car was driven down from Seatle Washington to Portland Oregon, which is around 150 miles apart. They brought it down for a trade.

Unfortuanatelly, there is only one dealer around here and to get the car I wanted, they had to make a trade. I don't really worry about it. I am just so happy to be driving it. If you are worried about it, I would just communicate with your Lexus dealership and get a better understanding of the process and what your expectations are.

I am sure everything will work out.

Thanks. i will talk with them. the buying process was great, and i feel i got the price that i planned on.

Yes there is a difference between 9 miles and 179 miles. But I bought mine "used," with 13,800 miles on it. From Lexus perspective, that is barely out of the garage. The car was flawless, except for a scrape on the right front wheel rim :censored: , and I might spend the $75 to get it fixed.

But at 14K miles the car is brand new. At 75K it will still drive like it's brand new. My SC300 drove better at 100K than most cars I bought new driving out of the dealership for the first time.

There is nothing like a Lexus.
