    Socal Fires

supposedly they are planning on getting it all extinguished by the end of next week, but we'll see what happens. All this smoke in my area isn't pleasant, but hey, at least I am still able to be in my area.
  2. I know there are a lot of CA members on here, and as one of them, I wanted to make sure everyone was OK. Thankfully, my immediate area isn't directly affected by the fire that is about 8 miles away from us (santiago canyon). The smoke is bad but at least we don't have to worry about the flames itself yet. Hope all is well and you have support from us here if you need it.
  3. Haha...who are you? Gordon Ramsay?
  4. well sw he did keep posting, i do understand and will stop
  5. To be honest, don't waste time fighting with one dealer. Go to a couple others, for all you know, they might replace them on the spot. That guy who looked at your pictures must be an idiot to think that the wheels of a $60K Lexus cannot withstand common substances on the road. Obviously you have defective wheels.
  6. You win the award for oldest tech saavy browser on this forum (and quite possibly this country also). Wow, is this the same person calling my sentences poorly-written? I think you should win the award for the poster who writes contradictory statements with incorrect syntax. I'm glad you think of yourself as a pretty girl, it must be great for your self-esteem as a male.
  7. First off, I didn't say flashy, I said gaudy. Maybe you should look those up in the dictionary. If you're saying that, by default, chrome wheels larger than stock are somehow gaudy, well I guess you're entitled to have that opinion, but I disagree. Secondly; Are you a Wayans brother? Because that line looks like something from that skit on Living Color where the black guy in prison is using words he doesn't quite understand trying to sound sophisticated. If you're unfamiliar with my reference to Living Color, ask mommy as she might know. If you're going to GET smart, you should actually BE smart. Please share with us the size of your rims, maybe it is just me, but from your avatar those rims are definitely bigger than 17 inches. My point is that having large rims that are flashy and gaudy (gaudy is more cacophonous between the two synonyms) is similar to having a modest amount of wood trim in your car as far as showing wealth/having luxurious things. I mean you said more is not always better but your rims are bigger and shinier than the stock ones for the ES. That seems contradictory to me, but I guess you think otherwise. Do you know anything about the English language at all? Why are you trying to correct people when you are misinformed? If you think that "I suppose you know that because you yourself characterize one of those people to a high extent" does not make sense, then you need to relearn English. Lay some foundation before you attack and criticize, because in this case you are wrong.
  8. I think you just proved me & SW's point. There are specific cars for individual people. That is why individual people log on to forums to discuss specific cars and how these cars do and do not meet their standards. If you read the posts in this thread, you may find that the original poster is contemplating the purchase of an ES350/LS460 so that is why he is critiquing it. He wants to see if others agree (which they do or in your case do not) to further pinpoint is criteria when purchasing his next vehicle. Also, might I ask approximately how old you are? I think you are very tech saavy considering you drive cars like the M45 and ES350 and utilize their technological goodies (not to mention you are also on this site posting as a member). Really, and I guess that is why your ES350 has 19-20 inch rims which is at least 2 inches more than stock. Not to mention these rims are chrome and have a flashy look to them. You are absolutely right when you say people do all kinds of gaudy/ugly things to show off their money. I suppose you know that because you yourself characterize one of those people to a high extent. More is not always better; so I guess that is why you spent extra money to have larger and shinier rims for your vehicle.
  9. A lot of stores call them auxiliary cables. Look around your house, you might find one (this is how I found mine). In reality, it doesn't matter which cable you get as long as one side fits in the ipod and the other fits in the car. Digital music sounds the same no matter what cable it passes through. Let your speakers do the rest...
  10. Wow. After not being on this forum for months, coming back to find this thread left me astounded. Primarily, I would like to recount that the last time I read something on this forum it was SW commenting on the quality of his current ES and how the new ES doesn't match up. Point made SW (I think your point has been made in several other threads also). Secondly, I want to comment on the fact that it seems like our favorite forum management member, SW, has changed his ways. Previously, when someone called him out on something or merely stated that his opinions are very "all about me (and how good my car is)-ish" he exploded with a lengthy, somewhat inaccurate dissertation about he how he always is and will be right. I found it very refreshing that when Zee called him a broken record he responded with an apology. Thirdly, I want to fully agree with SW that cars seem more luxurious when they have a reasonable and modest amount of wood in them. I mean if you look at history, most cars (Japanese and German) over the past few years (04-06) have for the most part omitted wood from their interior designs. Of course they didn't fully omit wood, but it was considerably less abundant. Now in the year 2007, automakers have finally realized that wood in most cases is a good thing. Look at BMW's X3 for example, it had wood on the door handles and near the gear shifter in 04-06. Now it is all over the dash. The same goes for the facelifted 5. Look at the LS. All LS model years have had good amounts of wood, and perhaps that is the reason we find it to be such a high quality and fine automobile (from the inside). The fact of the matter is, luxury cars are known to have high quality wood inside them while sporty cars are known to have trims of carbon fiber or aluminum. So when you get in a car like the ES, you just feel like there should be a lot of wood in it.
  11. Wow it has been quite a while since I have been on these forums. I was glad to see my favorite line by SW when I saw this page. The ES is really nice, but its no LS It would be fun to count the number of times that phrase has been used by SW...I'd say more than 6 times .....but hey, he's right
  12. I always laugh when I see cars like that. I mean really, who are these people trying to fool?
  13. My mirrors look like that too. Its harder for me to notice in the daytime unless the sun is directly in it, but at night when a car's headlight is in it, I can really see the swirls in it. Are you guys saying the dealer will change the mirrors for free and not say it was my fault?
  14. Of course you could always *BLEEP* on your neighbor's cars.
  15. Why is returning calls such a burden for these service guys? I mean it only makes them look more incompetent when you have called countless times and they never call back. And then days later when they actually do call back, like in LexKid's case, why can't they just be polite?
  16. Heard there was a year long waiting list for them, but I find that they are listed on autotrader.com for around 40k/50k.
  17. Those things are tiny! I want to drive one, it looks really fun. They're relatively cheap too, around 40k i think.
  18. Call me crazy but those were valid questions to ask someone when they make an extremely wide generalization. You need to look at the glass half full and stop thinking that I keep "jumping down your throat."
  19. Exactly, SUVs can get just as much attention as comparable and approximately equally priced cars, if not more attention. For that matter, is there anything under 100K that will get more attention than a Lamborghini?
  20. what would make you think that SUVs don't get as much attention as cars? have you yourself owned a luxury SUV and a luxury sedan at the same time? for that matter have you personally ever owned a luxury SUV ever?
  21. I thought the old LS started at something like 55k. Did the most expensive package really bring it up all the way to 70,000?
  22. probably the C class, i know the 98 had an interesting pop out from the armrest compartment
  23. i think audi used a design similar to that in the old a4, maybe even the new a4. that design for cupholders isnt really uncommon
