Just wondering how many lexus owners really care about xm in there ride ?

We're proud to introduce an exciting new addition to our vehicles—available XM® Satellite Radio [1]. At Lexus, we focus on carefully crafting every facet of the driver and passenger experience. And now that same level of precision extends to in-vehicle entertainment.

This October, we're raising the bar on car audio again by offering factory-installed XM Satellite Radio [1], allowing drivers to access and enjoy more than 170 channels of music, talk, sports and specialty programming—all with unmatched digital clarity, and easily controlled through their vehicle's existing audio system. The 2007 LS [2] is the first Lexus that will offer this option, but soon all our vehicles will offer the choice.

Our partnership with XM Satellite Radio [1] is just another example of Lexus' passionate pursuit of the perfect sound.

We're thrilled to offer you a unique opportunity to experience the unparalleled variety and total control of XM Satellite Radio [1] for free. Just visit lexus.com to learn more about XM Satellite Radio [1] and to sign up for a Free 3-Day Trial. You'll have plenty of time to explore the benefits of XM Satellite Radio [1] and maybe even find a favorite channel.

Despite satellite radio's advanced technology, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to enjoy a Lexus sound system with available XM Satellite Radio [1]. Channels are conveniently organized by genre and easily navigable, just like standard radio stations. Finding your favorite channel is a breeze. Choosing one is the challenging part.

Rock, classic, blues, jazz, hip-hop, country, R&B, alternative, reggae, folk and more—a true music lover appreciates them all. And with XM Satellite Radio [1], music lovers have over 69 commercial-free music channels in which to revel. XM also presents over 1,000 exclusive live performances from artists such as Paul McCartney, Santana, Coldplay, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, not to mention renowned series including Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Besides the extensive catalog of music, XM offers enough sports content to satisfy even the biggest fans. XM features play-by-play coverage of thousands of sporting events each year including Major League Baseball®, The PGA TOUR®, NASCAR®, The US Open Tennis Tournament, FIFA® World Cup™ Soccer, NCAA athletics, and more.

XM also provides listeners with access to a myriad of diverse and exclusive talk programming. From comedy with Opie and Andy to punditry with Bill O'Reilly, commentary from Al Franken to insights by Bob Edwards, even books on tape, XM has content for every listener.

With this many options to choose from, you have yet another excuse to spend as much time as possible behind the wheel of your Lexus.

Another benefit of XM service is the available XM NavTraffic® [3], the nation's first satellite traffic data information service. XM NavTraffic enhances the Lexus voice-activated HDD Navigation System [4] with continually updated traffic information in many of America's largest cities. With more information at your disposal, you can avoid traffic congestion, accidents, road construction, and find the best route to your destination, in real time. All of which means you can get there faster. Though we'll certainly understand if you'd rather take the scenic route in your Lexus.

As you can see, with more than 170 channels and the benefits of XM NavTraffic, XM Satellite Radio [1] makes driving a Lexus even more enjoyable. Go to lexus.com and sign up for your free 3-Day Trial.

Our partnership with XM is just another example of our passionate pursuit of perfection. And it doesn't stop here. We look forward to sharing more of the innovation, performance and luxury Lexus is known for in future issues of Lexus Pursuit.

We've even created a special archive to allow you to access past issues.

I have XM and LOVE it, my next car is going to have to have it as a factory option though, for better sound quality and aesthetic reasons. B)

I agree. I even have it hardwired to my stereo and its still not as good as friends that have it as a factory options.

Wes, do you lock your tuner in to XM 121 too?!?!?:whistles: :D I have a wired XM modulator that is very, very good for a $25 contraption, but not quite CD quality or something that is more directly integrated with the car stereo.

Mine is actually hooked directly into my stereo on my camry and it still sounds like crap for some reason. But when I play my ipod through that same connection it sounds great.... That's why i never understood the 'cd quality' slogan that they use. Who knows... maybe i'm doing something wrong. Either way I do enjoy the programming!

I like the line up on XM but the audio quality stinks. It is the same reason i never got into mp3 and ipods. I hate poor fidelity.
Are you still using the wireless transmitter?

I have a Delphi wired XM modulator connecting my XM to the car stereo since there aren't really many other options than that for an old car like I have, but I am really, really pleased with. It was only like $30 too.

DC !!!

(IMHO)

I don't have XM and to be honest don't want it...I think it is about 13.00/month though....The only thing that I would want it for would be the NEWS...and I watch that too much now!

I have heard that a lot of people like it but I am not sold on it yet!!! It is still a someone else picking the music that is played...it is not like you can pick the songs...so what you have more channels to flip through... :chairshot: :chairshot:

It would have been cool when I was 16 and was in my car all of the time!

Yeah about $13/month. Each additional radio is $10/month and its cheaper if you buy a year at a time. I use it mostly on trips, thats when it really comes in handy. I also bought the boombox thing that goes with it so I can pop it out of my car and listen to it anywhere.

That's a good one too!!

If you ever really wanna big laugh tune to 167. Pure entertainment... lol

When you say wire modulator is it the tape deck one or the FM modulator?

Wes, what I have is called a wired FM modulator (I think Delphi is one of the only ones that make them for XM. They're universal though.). I'll use this picture to help me describe it.

LG_SA10112-11P1_264x198.jpg

The male antenna plug on the left plugs in to the antenna port on your head unit. The female one on the left is where you plug your car's antenna to. You plug your satellite antenna in to the little box that's in the middle of the pic, and the wire at the top of the picture is what plugs in to your tuner's sat antenna port. What's really nice is that it auto switchs back and forth beween the XM antenna and your car's antenna in case you want to listen to local AM/FM for traffic info or something.

It's definantly worth the money, especially if you are having sound quality issues. I'm in a rural area, so I'm not sure if this is something you can pick up at Best Buy or not. I ordered mine directly from Delphi here: http://www.shopdelphicatalog.com/showProdu...&navigationId=7

(I have an Audiovox tuner, and it works with this kit without any issues at all.)

I forgot what channel I was listening to the other day, but the comic had me I was laughing so hard I was almost in tears when he was doing a reinactment of his last trip to the all you can eat Chinese buffet!

I have a wired FM modulator but said screw it as i could use the tape adapter with out it being seen in my car.

The audio comes out cropped badly so it sounds really choppy .

I have perfect reception in my city and the tape adapter is the best solution other than an aftermarket deck.

BTW dc ,i removed your email address from your post above.

I can't see paying for feed that you cannot pick and choose. There is enough to listen to on regular radio IMHO and the rest of the time it's cd's, Some burnt and some not but at least it is what I want to listen to and it's free. ;) I suppose there are pros and cons but for now It is my way B) Not there way at a cost.

That's true! It's just like cable TV in your home. You don't need it, and you can't choose the shows that you want to come on at a specific point in time, but once you have it, you'll never want to live without it. Sat radio is the same way. I bought XM with great skepticism, but it has proven to be a worthy expense time and time again for me (although I am on the road 20k-25k miles a year.)! It's an especially valuable resource on the hwy.

If it is not what I want to listen to it might as well be a commercial...or the DJ who is actually talking about something local...

I am not saying it is a bad deal but I could careless about flipping through channel after channel to find a song that I want to hear...

Why is cable TV so much more attractive than broadcast? I was like you until I bit the bullet and got Sirius, now quite honestly I hate listening to the radio when I have to in loaners or in Carla's car and I hardly ever listen to CDs anymore. There are so many different kinds of music, every kind you could imagine. No commercials, great talk entertainment, comedy, news, traffic, weather, Howard Stern. No censorship, no FCC, no dubbing of music and talk, just everything the way the producer and artist meant it to be. Its great.

No more driving on trips getting bored of the same 6 CDs and searching for local stations that will be gone in 20 minutes, no fading out in high elevations, your music goes with you everywhere. Its quite something to listen to the same channel for 350 miles.

The best part? Commercial free music.

I don't so much care about XM because I prefer Sirius, but I will not buy a car that won't let me have my Sirius. This whole Lexus getting on with XM worries me about that a little. Personally I would have aftermarket Sirius before I got OEM XM.

For the record XM is $9, Sirius is $12. Whichever format you like depends on your taste but they ARE different, I know people who have both.

XM and Sirius are the exact same price; they even have the same discounts if you subscribe in advance.

Steve, anything in particular about Sirius that has made you such a loyal customer?

They changed the pricing structure since I bought it then.

I think the reason I like Sirius more is as follows:

1. I like the traditional radio station style of play as opposed to XM which plays more obscure music and deeper tracks. Sirius plays more hits and in a tighter rotation. Which one appeals to you is totally a matter of personal taste.

2. I like Howard Stern

If it weren't for Howard I probably wouldn't care.

I had Direct TV at home and got XM.

Now I have another dish and have Sirius.

So far, they are nothing great if you ask me.

You gotta have it in the car, the benefit really comes when you're in the car. I don't even have it at home. I also never listen to music at home...

:pirate: I like xm because:

1. I don't like hearing the same music over and over.

2. I absolutely hate howard stern and it would ruin my whole morning if i even accidentally stumbled on whatever station he broadcasts on.

 lol j/k!

We have XM on our direct tv at our lake house and never listen to it there... but its the time on the road that's made better by satellite!!!

After much thought, I wouldn't pay $ for that type of service. Maybe if there was more flexability like being able to choose what songs/music I want to listen to. Kind of like the movie service ( the name escapes me ) that lets you choose what movie to watch. ;)
