Look At The New Kia Optima! It's A Lexus Ls430!

So somebody in my condominium complex bought one of these.. I'm 4 floors up and as I was looking down into the parking lot, I saw this car.. At first glance I thought "who bought a Lexus"? Then I realized it wasn't an LS430 and thought maybe it was an Infinity... I eventually drove past the car and realized it was the new Kia Optima... Even the rims are copied from the LS430.. At first glance, from the front, this looks like the first version of the LS430.. The back and interior look nothing like it - but the interior isn't bad..

I just thought this was all very interesting..

Since I can only add ONE attachment at a time (holy cow!), I just created a page with the images:

There are still major differences in each car.

Japanese copy European style, Koreans copy Japanese style, China copy off everybody....sigh
+1 ;) Even so, I think it's a good looking car (I'm not saying I'd buy one.). Let us not forget Kia's rendition of our beloved, tranny-eating RX300:

Yuck.

Well I have learned that you need to be careful when talking about KIA's and HYUNDIA's here.... I am curious to know if they look so good then tell me why you would not buy one????

For me I think they have done exactly what has been said...copied a good car and made it cheaply! I have said it before I personally would not buy one not saying they are a bad car but they are certainly not the same car as they have copied....

Blake, about that second photo: is it photoshopped or for real? I can't believe my eyes!
Flanker, those pictures are real! ;) http://www.kia.com/sorento/index.php

I wouldn't buy one because I hate intermediate sized cars. I think they are pointless except for fleet sales. I don't doubt that the Optima is a fine car, but for a few dollars more, you can get in to a Camry.

I would buy one, if I were shopping for an intermediately priced family car (Camry, Accord, etc) but I'm not. There are many cars that I would buy, if they would suit my needs and desires. The Honda Odyssey for instance, its probably the best van on the market and I'd buy one in a second...if I needed a minivan.

If you truly know a lot about cars, and are an auto enthuiast you can like and respect a model or company even though you'd never purchase one of their cars. I would never buy a Kia or Hyundai. BUT, I would never buy a Camry or an Accord either because they're not my kind of car. That doesn't mean that I don't believe a Camry or Accord isn't a fantastic family sedan. I simply have no need for or desire to own a family sedan in general.

Your problem is that you're either incapable or unwilling to recognize that other people have different needs and tastes in vehicles than you do (among other things). Not everyone can buy a Lexus...not everyone who can buy a Lexus wants a Lexus either. I would never buy an RX330 for instance, but I think its a terriffic crossover SUV.

But what I'm saying is, when you factor in the price difference, the Optima is the more attractive car. IF you can get past the fact its a Kia.

I just said I AM NOT SAYING THEY ARE A BAD CAR. Not everyone can buy a Lexus (wow you have figured something out cheaper)

Here you go telling people what their problems are...of course eveyone has different taste in cars, and people have different budgets too. For anyone who wants to buy one that is great...but because I do not like the car you have to tell me my problems...grow up!!!!

Will you chill out? All I did was answer your question:

I am curious to know if they look so good then tell me why you would not buy one????

So I answered it:

...but because I do not like the car

How can you not like something you've never tried? You don't want to like the car because its a Kia or Hyundai, regardless of how well built the car might be. Thats incredibly closed minded.

WTH is your problem? Why do you always have to jump off the deep end when someone posts something that is contrary to yours?

OK...(deep breath)

I love reading other peoples post that differ from the way I think/feel that is how we learn. But when you post it is with the attitude that "I am right you are not" I do not have to drive the car to say it is made cheap. I can see them I can hear other people speak about them, I can also know the managers of body shops/ repair facilities, dealerships, and car rental companies that have told me that they have problems with them all of the time. They might be a great car I DO NOT CARE. I am not telling anyone to buy them or not. You just said that you would by a Honda odyssey why not a KIA or a Hyundai...do they not make mini vans...did I say anything bad about Honda, Toyota, Nissan???? I had a Toyota Camry for 3 years had a Celica before that both great cars. I have had problems with many American made cars therefore I have said I don't think that unless things change I will buy another one. I also know quite a few people that work on cars that will tell you in a second if you ask them...how can KIA or Hyundai make a car that cheap...they will tell you "you said it cheap"

If you came back and said I would buy a KIA because or I would not buy a KIA because...BLA BLA BLA...cool....

but you say YOUR PROBLEM IS well who is jumping off the deep end...you can feel how you want about the car why do I have to respect the car do you respect DIET RITE a knock off diet soda??? They did the same thing and made it cheaper...

I do not have to drive the car to say it is made cheap.

Why not? So you're saying its okay to spout what other people have said as fact without looking to see for yourself if its true? It the very least you should just not speak because you have no idea what you're talking about.

But when you post it is with the attitude that "I am right you are not"

So you've never posted in this way? What about the drilling you gave us about how insurance works? You were abusive to people because they disagreed with you.

do you respect DIET RITE a knock off diet soda

Have you ever tried Diet Rite? I haven't, so I would not respect it nor disrespect it because I have no experience from which to base an opinion. I don't regurgitate the opinions of others, I form my own. I've heard people say they hate it, I've heard people say they like it better than Diet Coke. Doesn't matter, I haven't tried it so I won't comment on it.

The world would be a lot better if everybody didn't assume they knew the truth until they've decided what it is for themselves.

This is called thinking for yourself

Calm down Boys,

We all drive a LEXUS and thus shouldn't really be worrying about an inferior wannabe.

My 2 cents,

According to you we are not allowed to think for ourselves...

Yes I acted like a !Removed! and I did also appoligize for it!

The world would be a lot better if everybody didn't assume they knew the truth until they've decided what it is for themselves.

The world would be alot better if everyone did not act like a know it all too!

I do not have to drive the car to say it is made cheap

It is funny I have explained this 5 times...I do not have to drive the car to say it is made cheap. I can see them I can hear other people speak about them, I can also know the managers of body shops/ repair facilities, dealerships, and car rental companies that have told me that they have problems with them all of the time.

But I am going to go rent one just so I can tell you I have driven it! :censored: It has not 1 thing to do with the fact it is a KIA or a Huyndia...if people told me horror stories about Toyota's and they came from reputable people I would not have considered buying a Toyota or a Lexus...why is this so hard to understand.

Good for you!

My 2 cents,

JT

Thanks for the 2 cents!!! :D

I love my Lexus too!
