  1. Glad you like them, I also could not be happier these are very nice tires. See ya,
  2. And most alarming, it occasionally has a clanking sound that occurs at 1500 to 2000 rpm, but only when the engine is warming up or after it has been allowed to cool for about ten minutes. This noise occurs at engine speed and increases in volume with increased load--but goes away within a block or two. Any one else have these problems? When I get home from work and go in and change before I go workout I let the car sit for about ten minutes re-start and sometime here this sound which does alarm me also. It is the only time my 99 GS 300 will do it? I would also like to know if that is a beginning of a problem or common? Good Luck, JT
  3. God Bless SRK, Guys like us make the world go round. I can honestly say I look forward to new GS posts on this site every time I log on, I am a very loyal person when it comes to my Family and my Lex. Peace my Friend, JT
  4. Hey SRK, I gues the carcass being faulty would make more sense than a speed rating. Thats what I love about this site, the ability to discuss issues like this with educated people and find solutions. Have a great weekend and Cheers to you also. JT
  5. Why would H or T rated tires cause a steering wheel shake? The Exalto's I recommended to you a few threads back don't shake on my LS - and they are H rated. All those letters are is a speed rating after all. Why folks believe they involve safety, or ride quality, or even handling, at low speeds (legal speeds anyways) is beyond me. This topic has been discussed at length in the past, and as has happened in the past I will no doubt be flamed or criticized for these views. Oh well. BTW Thanks SRK for the recommendation I really do appreciate it. The experience I had recently caused me to feel this way, I had Continentals which were T rated and than Goodyear Assurance which were H both made the wheel shake. When I went with the correct V rated tires the Exaltos you recommended gone no shake. This would lead me to believe there has to be a correlation? I am by no means an expert but will say that the V rated Exaltos I now run have completely fixed the problem. Don't want to argue just my findings. JT
  6. Yes, the car calls for V rated tires which have much stiffer side walls if you get H or T rated you will experience a shake in the steering whell like I did. I do believe the sport tuned supension needs the V rated tires to perform properly. JT
  7. Michelin Exalto A/S see discounttire.com for reviews. JT
  8. Use the search button we have had many of discussions on this that may be helpful to you. Thanks, JT
  9. Put the Exaltos on today WOW these are the tires for me. I highly recommend them to anyone. Thanks for your inputs. PS When did Saturns and BMWs come into play. JT
  10. Michelin Exalto A/S Just put them on best tires I have owned, only have 50 miles so far but am very pleased. JT
  11. I guess my thought is certain suspensions need certain sidewall stiffness. Which would make sense that the GS calls for V rated tires which have a very stiff sidewall compared to say a T or H rated. JT
  12. That explains Americas Bountiful Heartland:) Yah I am hoping the Exalto's do the trick. See ya,
  13. I talked with my mechanic and decided to go With the V Rated Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S.(Minnesota Driver) I hope these do the trick, I think the V rated sidewall is an important part of the puzzle. Thanks for your Input, Yes the Goodyears I have deserve to be on a wheel barrow:) JT
  14. Hello Guys & Gals, So far I have been through two sets of tires at the shop Continental ProContacts and Goodyear Assurance 215/60/16s I now am going to try the Michelin Primacy MXV4s. What tires do you currently use that you have had good luck with? The Primacys are H rated and the other ones were T rated I am hoping that was the problem. The Lexus dealer said with the sport tuned suspension the GS is very finicky and I have found that to be very true. Thanks JT
  15. Thats not a bad idea, thanks for your input. JT
  16. 3k at 75 is right on for the GS3 No worries, JT
  17. Hey Guys and Gals, I recently purchased a 1999 Gold/Champagne Lexus GS 300 which I will post pics of soon. I thought it would be cool if other owners with this color could post pics so I could see what they have done with them. I will be in the market this summer for new rims and would like to see some examples. I am always on the lookout for this color and never see it must not have been as popular but I just love it. Thanks, JT
  18. At 70 I am at 2750 so yup you are running a little high. I am guessing you may have your power button on, if you change it to economy it should reduce rpms. See ya, JT
  19. Use the search button this has been discussed recently. Thanks, JT
  20. Lexus, Its not a Car Company.....Its a lifestyle! Once you experience the thrill, anything else is merely a bore! I couldn't agree more, I have driven many other cars but no other makes you feel the way a Lexus does. JT
  21. Welcome to the club, it seems you have a great attitude and that will get you far. Search for posts on replacing this tranny and make sure your price is inline. Best of Luck, JT
  22. Hello and Merry Christmas to all of you, I was driving the other day and my fuel light indicator light came on just under a quarter of a tank. This is normal and I am not worried, but when I filled up I was only able to get 15.89 gallons in when the tank holds 19 coorect? This would indicate to me the light is coming on when there is approx 3 gallons left in the tank? If correct you should be able to run approx 60 miles once light has come on, I personally don't play that game but I just thought it was interesting that it comes on as early as it does. Any thoughts? JT
  23. Hey Craig, No problem, you will get used to the shift pattern and the feel. C ya, JT
  24. I would say that is totally normal your ECU has learned that shift pattern based on either you or the prior driver. My GS 300 also shifts through the gears very quickly while using a lighter touch. This actually is a good thing in my opinion because it increases your MPG and is easier on the transmission to not take the shifts up to the higer revs. If you reset you ECU and drive like a bat out of hell while it is re-learning your driving you may be able to change that but I would leave it. JT
