White Smoke From Exhause

I have no idea what the point of the taco post was.

Well you have pretty much figured it out.

You are getting no spark.

Both the 1 and 7 are on the same coil pack.

So the wires or coil or its wiring is bad.

BTW the exhaust may smell of gas but it is water coming out the tips not liquid gas or you would have fire shooting out the pipes.

lol what you said about the gas thing is true i did not think this thru

but were is the water coming from?

today i got the coil put it on and it still smokes i also put a gas regulator a ingnition for the coil and tried to change other spark plugs and the wires as well with the

spark plugs

and still the same problem the injector 1 and 7 still drained

i got some electrical problems i am guessing

but i am still worried about the darn water i mean why is there water in the exhaust and why is the canaster for the coolant full if its water

why doesnt it drain

today i tried to disconnect the 1 and 7 injectors and the engine got a little chaky

but i just wanted to see if there was smoke still and yes so i disconnected all on one side all 4 injector to see if maybe it would burn the water faster and it did smoke like heck i mean it was bad so i turned the car off and connected the injectors back and the same thing again the gas smell ect...

but i know now that there is water for shore because it got worst with the test

if you disconnect the injectors on one side should it smoke the way it did?

let me ask you a question. when you start the car does it run roughly? i noticed that you said when you disconnected the injectors or plugs from cylinders 1 and 7 that the car started to shake badly. this would indicate that those cylinders are firing correctly. how much water is coming out your pipes? a little or alot? as for the smoke, i see you have one of the first ls that were made an it probably had the original headgasket which you damaged when you removed the pieces up top

Ok the water coming from the pipes is caused from the cat doing what it does which is burn excess hydro carbons as the platinum and other precious metals create a reaction. The by product is carbon and water with many other safer pollutants.

So as long as you don;t run the engine for long periods of time the cats should be fine and not burn out.

Now to the problem at hand.

In order to properly troubleshoot any problem you cannot just pull and disconnect parts to see if there is a difference. You need to disconnect one plug at a time and make sure every single one if firing.

Then disconnect each injector plug and note the changes.

When you do each one report exactly what you found by doing it one at a time.Anything else is a waste of time.

When you reinstalled the fuel rail and injectors did you buy a new O ring kit to reseat your 15 year old ones which are probably destroyed ?

yes i did buy new o rings and i bought a code tester to see if it would help

and the code it gave me was a main oxygent sensor a leak air induction,

bad spark plugs, fuel injectors, air flow meter o2 sensor, inproper fuel pressure

faulty distributer or ingition wiring associated wth parts

now today my mission was to toble shoot these errors

so i did check the spart plugs and replaced them with new ones

try to crank it and got the same results

then changed the disributer cap and rotor and igniter

and got the same responce

the replaced the injectors again for the third time

same responce

air flow meter, 0 2 sensor and heater were the only thing i did not replace because i dont really know what they are do you?

the locations of these items

you got all these codes? first if your o2 sensor is faulty that would be a big problem b/c th computer will not be able to mix your fuel and air properly and this could make your car run rich(might be why you are smelling fuel)

second, the leak in air induction prbably means that you have a leak in your itake manifold gasket

third, you already changed the plugs and injectors numerous times so i doubt its that(where do you get all these injectors from b/c they are pretty expensive)

fourth, the air flow meter works in conjunction with the o2 sensor and other sensors to get you the correct fuel mixture also. As for the distributor and ignition system have you changed the spark plug wires?

yes i did change the spark plugs and the injectors i got are from a local junk yard that sells really cheap unlike other junk yards they have a list were they have all the pricing so they will not charge more for a part and sence its so big they can sell the injectors for about 20.00 a set of 4

were is the o2 sensor located on this model?

and also i saw this guy selling a set of high performance injectors for this model

on ebay the bid was going at 50.00 and no one has yet bid on them

hey the car has about 80,000 miles on it is this normal for it to have so much problems?

the interior looks like new but the body has some scratches and dents and needs a paint job i work in a body shop and i am paiting it soon white perl

how much do you think i can get for it?

i just want to know because i am investing a lot on the paint sence factory paint has perl well i have to pay 500.00 more or less for just the paint and perl

not counting the engine investment and interior leather i had to pay some shop 300.00 to fix the drivers side seat because the leather was ripped

and still have to get the a/c controller because it would not read the temp or time

and the transmition has about 4,000 miles in it sence it was rebuit with a 1 year warranty i just got it done about a month ago \

a lot of people say its a great car but i had bad luck with this one

i have a honda civic that has been with me for 5 years and all i have done to it is change the oil and spark plugs has 190,000

and the only job i did to it has been the timming belt 75.00

$500 for a paint job will be a really cheap one and probably not that good looking.

I believe he is panting it himself and is paying 500.00 just for the paint itself.....

Yes a Lexus is a great car, but any used car is only as good as how the last owner took care of it.

Abuse can turn any car into junk in less then 20,000 miles.

Sorry to hear you went 300.00 just to fix the front seat. You can but a set of custom made skins, and pay to have them installed. Skins are about 400.00 for the whole car as I recall, and about 200.00 to install...

What do you know about the care and use this car got from the old owner???

I got mine from my dad. He did not drive much, and only in traffic. When he needed to sell it I bought it becouse I knew it was well cared for. But it did not drive that greaty on the open hiway, untill I did about 3 tanks of gas with an additive in the fuil, and severail 400 mile drives, to blow all the "stuff" built up from short hop, slow stop and go traffic. In fact when I got it, if you hit the gas hard, you got smoke out the back... Think it was white/blue... But no more...

So, the way it was driven does effect a car.

yes but that is my discount as a body man i will prep the car and that cost is for just paint alone with a shop discount the paint i use is glasurit the best

shine best quality and yes it can get expensive a paint job at a body shop like us

will run about 2,500.00 to 3,000.00

now there is other resorces for the people who cant afford a great paint job that is

o oh better get macco its the embasador paint job witch runs about 500.00 with a clear coat (no body work) and a 5 year garantee but like i said this is a cheap way of doing it and i would not recomend

you can ask me about body work and i can help but mechanic work terrible at it

oh man see thats what i get for not shoping around that would have been great to change all of them but i really wanted it done right away

i did not know the past owner but what i can see from the car was receipts from the dealer for tune up s lots of them and i looked for any vissible wrecks on the frame or body of the car and none no rust too and the interior was well maintained\ with the exeption of the drivers seat

the car does indicate about 80,000 miles but i am a little skeptic because the title

said 72,000 back in 2003 when the guy registered the car here in florida

and one thing about florida is that you can register a car and change the title and they dont even check the car to see if what you say the miles in the car are true

and he told me that he was the only previous owner of the car so he had the tilte when it said 0 miles , i mean for what you know the guy could have gone to a junk yard and got the instrument / miles gages at the 80,000 changed them and told me the miles are real

Just some personal thoughts.. Take them for what they are worth... And that may be a lot to you or nothing at all....

To see the history of the car try two things if you want to try them.

Have a dealer run the vin # for you. This will give you the history that Lexus has on the car. Anytime it was seen by a dealer it would go into the Lexus computer data base.

Run a car fax on the car and see if they show it as a one owner car or not.....

Lastly. I like to work on my cars myself, but as my michanical skills are worse then my spelling skills... I have learned to give most work to my locale shop. And to tell you the truth with him charging 50.00 an hour and knowing what he is doing, most of the time it saves me from waisting my time trying to do it myself or fix one thing and breaking another.... Please think about having someone look at the car for you and tell you what they think it needs. Paying a local shop (not a dealer) for an hour of thier time to diagnose the car for you will save you all this waisted time and buying of parts.....

Just my thoughts.... But like I said, may or may not mean anything to you.

Don't forget to let us know how it turns out.  Here is hoping it's something easy and cheap to fix!

yes i will let you guys know and thanks for the advice

ok guys here is the deal the cars problem with the white smoke was two things

one was the gas tank had water in it caussing this white smoke what i did was i got a fuel atifreeze with the gat cap opened droped the liquid and left the cap off

the cranked the car and ran it for an hour till it ran out of gas then refill with 93 octain and fixed the smoke

the next thing was the fuel problem so i disconected the 1 and 7 injectors and ran a new wire from the 3 and 5 just one the yellow one cut the brown white ones

and taged the yellows

and that was all, the fuel regulated great and running great with a lot of power

now the gas burns great and no smoke

apperantly the wire was making a ground some were on the system causing the injector to stay on at all times

and the funny thing was that the dealer wanted to replace the injectors

Glad you fixed it!,

And glad it was not a really big thing.

I'm also suprised we all missed water in the gas tank. I should have thought of that, as I know it can happen. Sham on me. In fact that is why I keep a couple of bottles of HEAT around incase I get bad gas (yes somethimes the gas stations gas gets water in in. More so in winter)

If you gave not done so, get a can of Berrymans B12 Chemtool (Wal Mart) and put it in your gas tank every now and then. Keeps injectors and fuil system clean, treats for water, etc. Same as Sea Foam brand, but cost less.

Again glad to hear you got it fixed, and sorry we missed the water in the gas tank :chairshot:

Um..cough, cough.. ;) post #7 I believe... :whistles:

what's that noise? oh wait...it's me tooting my own horn. Hahaha. Just kidding...

Glad you got it fixed man. I remembered water problems as a teenager living in kansas during the winter in my old VW. I let the gas get so low the water condensation build up actually FROZE up the gas line and stopped me dead in my tracks.

its still high at around 2,000 rpm's if i turn the ac on it goes down a little

and if i shift it on drive it helps even more
