What Does An O2 Sensor Do?

Recommended Posts

I just got a K and N air filter put in, and the guys putting it in said that the oil from the filter can make my Mass oxygen sensor go bad? Is that true, is there anything I can do to avoid that. And how much are they to get fixed?

WRONG! It's not the 02 sensor that can go bad, If anything it's the VAF !!! <_<

And if the sensor does give bad info to the engine, then what's that do? I'm retarded when it comes to sensors.

It will give a check engine light. In the worst case the car will not run properly. Then you'd have to clean the sensor, if it isn't ruined, but I have never had the problem and have run K&N and TRD filters on several cars.

To make sure it is not over oiled

1 after oiling it swing it around to gravity pull the oil across the surface and drip the excess off.

2 let it sit on an angle to allow the pleats to drain down for an hour.

It should be fine then

Never oil and insert right away
