SpeedRacer959 Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 Requesting help!! I'm going to buy new wheels for my es soon, but I want to go bigger. You know...bigger is better theory. I know the IS300 17" wheels will fit on there, but how do you find out how big of wheels will fit w/out rubbing. I heard someone had 18's on there car. Also, how wide can you go??? Right now I'm leaning towards putting on IS300 chrome 17's on there. Post Pics of your wheels too...It may help me decide. cheers!
FLiP Sp33d Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 i was also planning on getting is300 rims for my car but bought other stuff instead. you're going to need to lower the car by at least 1in and get spacers to reduce the offset. i like the look! it would be interesting to see how it looks on a white es300 like my car!
steviej Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 I have an '02 and went from 16s to 18s but the tire guy said I could go to 20's if I wanted. 215/60-16 went to 235/40-18. I tried to stay within the proper range so I wouldn't have to worry about speedo reacalcultion or remembering a fudge factor. I know alot of 1st/2nd gen ES that go to 17's and they look awesome. I wouldn't go wider than an 8" rim though. when in doubt, consult Mason or Brandon at www.TireRack.com sj
MCV20 Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 hey.. there are more choice than the IS rims.... but for 97-99 es.. i would not go over 17 IMO.... also i got the same colour as ur car.... nice choice..
SpeedRacer959 Posted July 16, 2003 Author Posted July 16, 2003 Those IS300 wheels definately look great on the ES300. If you don't use the offset will it rub? Or is the offset just to make it look better?
FLiP Sp33d Posted July 17, 2003 Posted July 17, 2003 spacers just make the wheels stick out more so when you view the wheels at a certain angle, the gap between the wheel and the bumper isnt so noticeable. here's an example of is300 rims on a 2nd gen es300, the gap is too noticeable imo ;)
SKperformance Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 just wondering is that car photshopped or are the wheels that bad in need of an alignment that they are not centered in the wheel well
FLiP Sp33d Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 you can ask the owner of the car, he's somewhere there in cardomain.
