94lex83457 Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 I've been looking for a wheel upgrade, for quite awhile, and i keep coming back to the IS 300 wheels. My only question is, how much do they weigh? I'm looking for relativaly light wheels, preferably 17" which i believe the IS wheels are. thanks
JDOwen2 Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 I have IS300 wheels on my 95. I don't know the weight but they're lighter than the stock 16"s
don_juan_miami Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 def good wheels. I dont have them personally, but ive heard of nothing but good things from them. Always brought up as an option for people who still want the OEM look for their car. Happy Hunting. Juancho
IIcon Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 Does anyone have a pic of IS 300 wheels on an SC? I would love to see the look.. ty
don_juan_miami Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Wow, that is def one of the sweetest looking sc's ive seen. Im a big fan of the OEM look and that just.....ahhhh. No words. God I love this car. Why sell it man. Its soooo nice. Keep the car bro. You just might regret it later. Juancho
geoffreymg Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 No offense, but the IS rims don't look very natural on the SC. just my opinion.
don_juan_miami Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Define natural, and then explain to everyone else what you are doing here?
jzz30 Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 No offense, but the IS rims don't look very natural on the SC. just my opinion. ← i agree, because the SC has more of a round shape the stock (400) rims look better becasue of its rounder profile. the IS rims ar a bit too edgy. just my $.02 too, dont take it personaly every one has different tastes ;)
geoffreymg Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 Define natural, and then explain to everyone else what you are doing here? ← Thanx jzz30
don_juan_miami Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 agree all you want, just dont say someone's car looks bad. If you dont like it, keep it to yourself. Its not your car. ('%20:chairshot:')
bartkat Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Lighten up man. Nobody said the car looked bad. :D
SKperformance Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 From the thread on wheel size and weigths in the wheel section Toyota Altezza (Lexus IS300) Z-Edition Cast 17x7 22.0 I agree it is not an attack it is just there are different opinons as th rims are from adifferent design era and do not flow with the car as some others do. but the rims themselves are very nice looking. To me it is like the current SC430 wheels and caps they look like crap on the sc but look very nice on a 97-01 ES300.
UCF3 Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Add a bodykit to it, it'll blend quite well.
geoffreymg Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 My attempt to be PC... I believe the most appropriate upgrade for "stock" look rims on an SC400/300 would be the 2006 GS430 5 spoke rim/tire combo now available on Ebay. In my opinion, they look very "natural" (existing in or produced by nature; not artificial or imitation; functioning or occurring in a normal way; lacking abnormalities or deficiencies). Furthermore, the upgraded rims could also allow an upgrade to the required minimum 17" rim clearance for Supra TT Big Brake Kit while maintaining the standard look. Just my view. Carry on.
JDOwen2 Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 I tried putting Supra TT brakes on the front with the 5 spokes and the rims didn't clear the rotors. The TT brakes did fit the back. I have since sold the rotors and calipers.
don_juan_miami Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 ....... ok ok... my bad... just a big fan of the look. There's just no convincing you guys huh? whatever, my bad. Didn't mean to start anything. Juancho
pat'sc3t Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 is300 rims are quite a bit more heavy than factory 15" i have the gunmetal/silver ones with 245/35 toyo proxes on my 92 5-speed also getting the spacers for the mean look.
