Does this ghetto speak come within the proximity to English? It seems like the majority of the participants in this forum type very similar to this fellow. I don’t know why I continue to check the LOC forum as if I am going to gain some sort of valuable knowledge. Is it just the SC400/300 forum or is it the LOC’s entirety? In my opinion, I gain approximately 2 or 3 useful “tips” in a one-year period from this forum. Statistically speaking, this forum gets dimmer by the minute. I don’t belong to any other automotive forums so I cannot confirm if others are similar. I will certainly rather pay a couple extra dollars at the dealer than have to deal with inconsistent, half-baked “information” from LOC members. Carry on retards. Buy some big rims and continue to fix your ride with bubble gum and duct tape.

but you have no knowledge of my low beams not working. say yes It was a suggestion to check the switch but you obviously did not pick that up. Maybe there is a problem in the switch column with the contacts.

when I first bought my 97' a few years ago the fog lights did not work. It was the switch. cheap fix. good luck.

It is tough to find a set of rims that look good on the SC; believe me i've been looking for two years! The wheels look pretty good but it definitely has to be dropped to shrink the wheel-well clearance a bit. It definitely screams, "I have AFTERMARKET wheels." On the other hand, it is the closest i have seen to something i would like to purchase aside from the Racing Hart 2-piece CX off-set. just my 2.

I believe that the TRAC light comes on for many problems. Mine came on within a month of purchasing my 97' a few years ago and it turned out to be a fouling spark plug (dealer fix). Most of the problems i read on this forum involve a TRAC light. I don't know what the deal is but to me it seems like a check engine light! good luck.

even though they are OEM rims i figured that there was a chance of rubbing since they aren't made for the SC. Im not sure of the wheel-well clearance so i thought i would ask. Thanks in advance for the pic upload. I have never bought aftermarket rims before so I thought my best bet was to go with OEM 18's. I've heard that going much bigger could lead to premature bearing, axle or brake wear/failure. Correct me if I heard wrong. thanks

I was hoping to get an idea by looking at some pics before I decide. Do you have any pics of your 18's. did you have any problem with rubbing. what size tire are you using? 45's, 40's?

i changed mine on a 97' and all i needed was my skinny fingers.

The dealer told me that the PS pump fails because it has internals that wear and start to spin and grind (they shouldn't spin). The tension from the V-belt also has a hand in the leaking, although the tension is needed for proper operation. I've done every preventative maintenance procedure that should have been done except for monitoring the pump for leaks. Unfortunetaly it's just one of those components that sux on the SC.

PS pump and Alt. Also a new V-belt and tensioner. Furthermore, if you think as your time as money; a 10 hour job at $20 an hour plus the $500 to $600 in USED parts equals a pretty good chunk of change. And double that if you have any problems with it down the road. There is always the hassle of borrowing a friends car to run to the dealer for the parts you forgot or did not know you'll need. And in your case, ordering parts and waiting a few more days for them to arrive while your ride sits torn apart. I don't like to be a downer but i like to think of every possible CON that happen, not just the PRO's. good luck

Something about "remanufactured" or "rebuilt" components doesnt sit well with me. Whats the point of putting used components in, especially when they are the components that are known to crap out. Even if they guarantee the part for a few months that only buys you a few months. I believe Chris Farley said it best, "why do they put a guarantee on the box? Cause they know all the sold you was a guaranteed piece of *BLEEP*. If you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. just picked mine up from the dealer about 2 hours ago. It was $1,600 but my local dealer extends the Lexus 12 month warranty to 24 months. Can't beat a dealer warranty and the free Camry they gave me for a week. Not to mention the countless hours of frustration and sweating that you might encounter. Bite the bullet and have it done correct. good luck

The infamous power steering pump has struck again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $800+ for the pump and $500+ for the alternator. won't be done for a few days though. I guess I'll be looking a little closer for pump leakage next time. :cries:

My battery light came on today so i went to Pepboys so they could check the battery and they replaced it with no luck. They think its the alternator so i dropped her off at the dealer today. I've looked online for new OEM alternators and the cheapest i found was $300. The dealer quoted $384. So i went the dealer route and they gave me a loaner car for the duration since they probabaly won't get to it till next week. I will keep posted as to any other problems that might be included (power steering pump). --geoff--

In theory, your degraded wires comment makes sense. But will you ever really know? Probably not. Save the $100 bucks and put in in some sort of interest bearing account and in 20 years go out and pick up your turbo. :D

How much HP will you really gain from an earthing kit? Certainly not anything will be noticable on a everyday driver, which it seems like most of the members in this forum are. I've noticed that most of the of the mods discussed in this forum are stupid penny pinching (cutting the airbox) procedures that decrease the value of the of ride. I love the SC as much as the next guy but cheesy uprades are about as good as putting little LEDs in your windshield wiper squirters. Save your money and do it right. Stock is better than !Removed!.

If it doesn't say turbo or blower; you won't notice a difference. Any performance mod that you can do for under $2,000 probably will only make you go faster when your by yourself, day-dreaming.

I've seen them for sale on Ebay but I haven't seen any pics. They seem like they would mesh with the pre-02' design.

My attempt to be PC... I believe the most appropriate upgrade for "stock" look rims on an SC400/300 would be the 2006 GS430 5 spoke rim/tire combo now available on Ebay. In my opinion, they look very "natural" (existing in or produced by nature; not artificial or imitation; functioning or occurring in a normal way; lacking abnormalities or deficiencies). Furthermore, the upgraded rims could also allow an upgrade to the required minimum 17" rim clearance for Supra TT Big Brake Kit while maintaining the standard look. Just my view. Carry on.
