You can use either, Denso(Iridium IK20 or PK20TR11 ND), or NGK(BKR6EKPB-11) spark plugs in your 1997 ES. These are OEM plugs. Bosch Platinum plus are NOT OEM, but that doesn't mean that you can't use them. I suggest calling your Lexus dealer to find out what type they recommend and then go to your local auto supply store and ask how much $ they sell them for. :)

i have bosch 4's they made no noticable difference beside it was a new plug

you always want platinum as it wears less than copper which is its only improvment

as the rear plugs are a pain to remove

i was thinking of changing my plugs soon too.i toke a look at my back ones and they look very hard.i also noticed the coils on top of the plugs and thats the first i ever seen like that.im going to put in ngk platnum plugs.thats what the dealer recomended me to put in in my 95 es.also bosh 4s arent really that great in my opinion.i used them many times and felt no inprovment.

My 1993 ES300 V6 engine is the 3VZ-FE model. How difficult is it to remove the 3 spark plugs in the back row? Do I need to remove the air intake plenum first?

Thanks!

i changed mine today and the rear ones came out without having to take any intake pieces off, just like 2 or 3 extenders on ur wrench, get back behind the intake plenum and you can get em out

best to take the pleumn off. too much other maintenance is done at the same time not too. doesn't take long at all either.
