ryanprun
How hard is it to replace brake pads on a 93 es300? I have a little experience with cars just not brakes ( I replaced all struts and put in a new radiator in the last year) Thanks
TROD23
Brakes are pretty easy. With disc brakes remove the tire, remove one or more bolts on the caliper (sometimes you only need to remove the bottom one), replace the pads and reset the caliper with a C-clamp, then put back together. Drums take a little more time and effert because you have to remove springs. First, remove the drum, remove the top sprig, bottom, left and right, and the line hooked to the pad in the back, take the pads off, remove a few pins inorder to remove the arm (for lack of a better term). Then put back together but before you put the drum back on you must extend the pads out far enough so the drum has a snug fit otherwise the brakes will feel spongy and you will here a clicking noise coming from the brakes when pressing on the brakes because it is trying to set itself. There are different ways, to take off a drum. If you see a couple of threaded holes on the drum take a couple of bolts and screw them into the holes and that will force the drum off. I am not sure how to do the other ways. Hope this helps :)
dropspace
es300's don't have drums on the back so your only real problem is if the rotor sticks
SKperformance
I spent a few hours a few weeks ago to make a thread with all the details on changing brakes
