mbpgawest Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 sw20_og, VERY NICE! I would love to have my Lexus look like that. I'm in the process of detailing my LS 400. It takes me a few weeks, I just don't have the time to do it all at once. I'll post my pics after I'm all done. I plan on using Meg. #16 as the topper on mine. B)
jonw440 Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 I just wanted you guys to see my recent detail on a black 2000 GS300.click here (Autopia.org) Sorry, some of the terms are in detailing lingo and may not be familiar to some of you. Looks great!! NOW Top it with S100 and you will be all set!

Chemy Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Autopia.org Nice work. New to detailing. Would you define the detailing terms unders Cliff Notes? Thanks
rpwsrw Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 I have a black car with similar swirl marks. can you post what all your "lingo" is and where to get it. that would be awesome!!
SW03ES Posted August 8, 2004 Posted August 8, 2004 Excellent work! I'm "GoodnClean" on Autopia BTW ;)
philip frank Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 i obviously know very little about detailing after looking into this thread. what is SG and the WOWO method? (wax on wax off?) also, my wifes car has some spots on it left from a bad gas station auto washer. i used some Zymol, applied by hand, rubbed like hell and used an orbital buffer to remove the wax. the spots are still there. what should i do nex? rubbing compound? also: what is PC?, what is S100? where's the best place to learn all the jargon som i can become a detailing pro?
sw20_og Posted August 11, 2004 Author Posted August 11, 2004 Sorry for the confusion guys. If you want to learn absolutely everything about detailing may I suggest lurking in autopia a while to get a feel for what's going on. I'm currently using a Porter Cable Dual-Action polisher for most of the work. http://www.properautocare.com/porcabuldetm.html Revised Cliffs Notes for my procedure: 1. Wash (I used Meguiars Gold Class car wash) 2. Clay (Magic Clay to take out any bonded contaminants in the paint. Leaves a very smooth surface ready for polishing) http://autopia-carcare.com/awc-88256.html 3. Paint Cleaning (3M Fine-Cut Rubbing Compound for moderate scratches and High-Temps Light Cut swirl remover to minimize/reduce most of the swirls) http://www.properautocare.com/3mperfincutc.html http://www.topoftheline.com/tolae/hitligcutswi.html 4. Polishing (Klasse AIO for final cleaning and to add surface gloss and protection) http://www.topoftheline.com/tolae/klasalseal.html 5. Protection (Klasse SG to add acrylic protection and to add maximum gloss and reflectivity. WOWO is a wipe on/wipe off method of applying SG because it's very tempermental in it's application) http://www.topoftheline.com/tolae/klassealglaz.html S100 (also known as PS21) is a carnauba wax and was planned to be the last sacrificial layer. It added depth to the black paint and wetness. Good Luck!!
