  1. You can also remove the ECU fuse for a few minutes. Saves having to reset clock and other functions you loose when disconnecting the battery cable.
  2. What code numbers did your mechanic get? Bank 1 Sensor 1 is an A/F sensor (not O2). There are so many sensors on this car--if one doesn't replace a sensor and another issue arrises, your job of tracking the issue becomes increasingly difficult. Frequently, the problem is something other than the sensor, i.e. vacuum leak, fuel cap, etc. Just an opinion. Good luck!
  3. Have you checked the vacuum hose behind the air cleaner? Sometimes this is left disconnected after repairs or servicing. Also, is your fuel cap sealing properly? I have read in this forum that each of these can cause the symptoms you mention. I will be following this post because I have the same thing going on. Good luck!
  4. Has there been an OBDII scan? Do you have codes? Might be a good step before changing the O2 sensor or anything else for that matter. Some AutoZone stores will do a free scan. Good luck!
  5. Sorry I replied to the wrong post. Bank 1 Sensor 1 is an A/F sensor (air fuel) not an oxygen sensor. Sorry! The attached file will show you the location, how to test, and how to repair. Look on page SF-75. It is located behind the engine, on the exhaust pipe, below the manifold. You might also check to be sure your gas cap is sealing properly. Sometimes the vacuum hose on the back of the engine air filter casing is not attached. Each of these can cause the symptoms you mentioned. Good luck! SFI__SF__file.pdf

  7. I guess it could be a number of things. I had a similar problem on my 2001 RX300 except mine wouldn't change to heat. I replaced the mode servo and solved the problem. While I had everything disassembled, I replaced the air mix servo as well. (This is the one that could be your problem.) They are right together but the air mix is more difficult to replace. Both are located behind the glovebox. Mine made a clicking noise under the dash, above the CD changer. At first, I thought the sound was the CD changer going through it motions but it was clicking all the time. It was the servos. When it stopped clicking, the HVAC was stuck in one mode--no heat. Before going to all this work, search this forum for problems like yours. I have added links to the two parts below. Good luck! mode servo (Lexus number) 87106-30371 parts.com $117.89 http://www.parts.com/oemcatalog/index.cfm?...playCatalogid=0 air mix servo (Lexus number) 87106-30340 parts.com $116.21 http://www.parts.com/oemcatalog/index.cfm?...playCatalogid=0
  8. P1150 Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1) Not O2! This is the sensor that is on the exhaust manifold between the engine and the radiator. If you follow the wires, they will take you to a connecter on the right side (as you are looking at it from the front of the car) of the engine, just above the transmission. The connector may have been disconnected by mistake or accident. However, it is on the other end of the engine from the alternator. If you know how to operate an ohm meter, there is an instructional document that will be helpful in troubleshooting. It is too large for uploading to this site (3.7MB). If you PM your email address, I will send the document. It will walk you through the testing procedure. Good luck. My bad. Another case of writing an answer to a question that wasn't asked. I'll wait until the coffee kicks in next time. Sorry, I replied to the wrong note by mistake. My answer was directed to the originator of the topic. My mistake!

  10. I have just began using Royal Purple after being on a blend for a while. Is 10K miles recommended between oil changes? Can you share your experience with the product? Thanks!
  11. You cannot separate the plastic part from the key. Remove the insides of the key and read my first post. The key will be hollow when you receive it. Insert the innards into your new key assembly. I ordered mine (by VIN) from Sewell Lexus in Dallas, TX. One day shipping to central Texas. Plan on spending $125. If you order from the place you indicated, you must still get it cut, which presents it's own set of problems. I am sure you have a Lexus dealer near you in NY.
  12. I made an edit to my first reply--please read.
  13. You got it--off with old (one screw) and on with the new. You will need to get the key cut. I ordered mine from Lexus. Give them the VIN, they will take a blank/empty key case and cut your key by VIN. You will need to properly identify yourself. No need to buy new innards.
  14. There is a document that will help in the replacement of the water pump but is is more than 2GB in size--too large for this forum. PM me your email address and I will send the 4.1MB document. Good luck.
  15. A_C_System.pdfNeed to be more specific with the climate control info. Attached is diagram of the A/C system that may be helpful.
  16. PM your email address--I will send the wiring diagram. Keep the $5.
  17. P1150 Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1)--the easy one to replace. It's the one below the exhaust manifold on the radiator side of the engine. Look at the attached document (below) starting on page SF 75 for troubleshooting info. The part number is 89467-48011, I think. Search this forum by that number to be sure it is correct. $125-175 for the part, depending on where you buy. Popular opinion is to buy OEM--search the correct OEM part number on eBay. Keep in mind, this is not an O2 sensor even though they may look the same. Another fault may be that the fuel cap is not sealing properly. I saw on another post where a member wrapped several layers of teflon tape under the "O" ring seal of the cap to create a tighter fit. Good luck. SFI__SF__file.pdf
  18. Send me your email address and I can send an electrical diagram that may help.
  19. I have a document that helps to troubleshoot the 2003 model electrical system, including audio. If you think it will help, give me your email address and I will forward it to you. The file is larger than the 2MB maximum for this site. Good luck
  20. I am not sure, but you might check the secret menus at this link or search for others: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=29792
  21. Thanks beachlover. I'll give it a try.
  22. Is there an easy way to check that the air mix servo is getting the correct voltage for operation? On full hot the air temp is not changed. Thanks!
  23. PM me your email address and I will forward a document that contains the info you need.
