  1. I agree, sounds like motor mounts. Good luck!
  2. Remove four bolts and unplug 2 wire harnesses in the front. You can have the seat out in 5 minutes without power tools. Good luck!
  3. I'm having the same issue with my 2001 RX300 I bought this summer. There is definately a detailed thread about this in the forum that I read through. The heat worked all of a sudden one day but has not worked since. This was followed by the hampster noise and then nothing. I've attached a file that seems like it could be helpful for tackling the job. Another person posted this in the aformentioned thread about the servo motor. Hopefully this will help in taking the trim apart and removing the air mix servo. You have to get past the part of the manual that covers the A/C system, I think the servo section is near the end of the document.
  4. Thanks again ma42220! I'm having the same issue with my 2001 RX300 I bought this summer. There is definately a detailed thread about this in the forum that I read through. 5. Pull the ECU fuse in the box next to the battery. Leave it out for about 30 seconds. This way you reset your computer without resetting your clock, etc. On my RX300, I ended up changing the fuel cap even though I tightened the old one until I heard several clicks. My lights went off and have not come back on after several days. I saw a post that suggested putting several wraps of teflon tap under the fuel cap "O" ring to make a tighter fit (you will need to pop the cap from the threaded part). I just replaced the cap. BTW, the sensor on the rear manifold is an Air Fuel sensor (A/F, B1 S1). Did you use a Lexus, Toyota, or Denso? They work differently than the regular O2 sensor. Not saying this will fix the problem. I'm at the end of my knowledge base. Good luck!
  6. I just tried to use my heater for the first time. I bought the car during the summer so I do not know if it had worked last season. I get no heat whatsoever. All the modes work perfectly--I removed and cleaned the mode servo because it was making noise and working erratically. It works fine now but the noise is still there. I assume it is the dreaded air mix servo. I hear it is really hard to replace. Does anyone have how tos or tips for replacing this servo? Am I going down the right path? Thanks!
  7. You are way beyond my knowledge--I ran across this article that may be helpful: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...mode=linearplus
  8. By the way, the Lexus part number for the '99-02 A/F sensors for the RX300 is 89467-48011.
  9. Joe- You are only able to check the heater in the sensors, not the A/F ratio sensor itself. code58 - Thanks for sharing. I am at the limit of my knowledge on sensors. I have read you can check the voltage with a scanner in place and the engine running--way too out there for me.
  10. You might want to find which sensor is bad before you order. If you want a drawing/troubleshooting guide for the sensors, send me your email address. You will find page SF-75 demonstrates the procedure for diagnosis. The sensors are different than the ones you buy at the parts store. Some say you can buy a Denso and be just fine. I just purchased a LexusToyota A/F sensor for $145 on eBay. The sensors are easy to check by using an ohm meter. Good luck!
  11. I have had similar issues. I checked the sensors--all okay. I was reading this forum and came across some instances of the fuel cap not sealing resulting in CEL, VSC, etc. lights showing. Some have wrapped teflon tape around the cap, under the o-ring seal. They also said to make sure you turn the cap until you hear a couple of clicks. I just replace the cap... so far, all is well. Good luck! :)
  12. I should not have gone out to eat tonight. :) joe
  13. I do not understand "jump top row from left number 3 pin to bottom row from left number 5." Does it mean count to the third pin from the left on the top row and the fifth pin from the left on the bottom row? Then jumper across them while turning the key on then off? Thanks joe
  14. Thanks Joe for your valuable input. I spoke with local lexus dealer and they are suggesting changing the locks and a new computer (which they need to get it shipped from CA) and estimated cost of $2000+. Hopefully your homeowners your insurance will cover the cost. On the other hand, $2K will buy a whole lot of theft insurance--but zero piece of mind. Good luck
  15. A Lexus dealer can cut another master/remote from the VIN--that will get you in the car but won't prevent theft. Can the tumblers in the key locks be changed and can Lexus change the codes in the computer? Will you home insurance pay for the change--after all, your security was stolen. Not much help, but good luck!
  16. All done! Thanks for the link. The gutter screen fit perfectly and works beautifully. Took me about an hour (after painting it flat black) and I am a novice. I encourage all Lexus owners with an opening in the bumper to perform this mod before a rock takes out the condenser coil. I spent less than $20.
  17. I had success with leather as well.
  18. What a plethora of info. Thank you very much! joe
  19. What a nice thing you are doing for us Lexus owners. Thanks! I'll take copies for my 2001 RX300. joefrank@mac.com
  20. The Woolite solution is a mild solution that I will use on my trim, carpet and leather. I used three steps: 1) cleaned with the Woolite solution; 2) rinsed with a fresh water rag/sponge; and 3) dry with a clean rag. I did not use gloves and my hands were not irritated at all. If you plan on doing a lot of cleaning, gloves would probably be more safe. Note: Woolite is a highly concentrated detergent. It was designed for use on dirty clothes so I would think it would just fine with carpet. Be aware, as I discovered while cleaning my dash--when you start on an area you don't know how dirty it is until you start cleaning. If you clean the spot on your carpet, what stood out while it was dirty may stand out because it is cleaner than the surrounding fabric after you are done. Good luck.
  21. Yes, it does work well. During the first use, I missed a couple of spots and was able to see how dirty the dash really was. The first time, I didn't know, how much to use, how much force, etc. The lid to the Woolite is a measuring device so I used one lid-full to five water which makes about the right amount for a spray bottle. I used a bucket the first time but every time I put the sponge into the solution, the dirt that was successfully removed was deposited into the mix making it increasingly dirtier. The spray bottle will remedy this issue. A remark about the strength of the Woolite solution, it took forever (it seemed) to get rid of the bubbles when I cleaned the bucket. Use the spray bottle--even if you just spray a little onto the sponge each time to maintain fresh solution. Thanks again for the tip.
  22. One part Woolite, five parts water is the ticket. The shine and reflection are gone. Thanks to the forum for the ideas.
  23. Actually, my RX300 already has factory puddle lights. Sorry, I am still learning about this vehicle. The suggestions have been helpful in terms of where to connect something that is necessary during the first few seconds just before and after entering the auto, i.e. floorboard lights, etc. The LexusOwnersClub is truly a wonderful resource. Thank you!
